I've always disliked the way players could simply run back to their corpse and get their stuff back. Especially if their friends stay and guard the body. I do understand that players want to play with friends but it is a definite advantage when you don't have to worry about gearing up again. For me respawning with nothing is the most tense and enjoyable part of the DayZ experience. I am actually looking forward to how the SA treats damaged equipment when you die. Perhaps gear is broken or damaged so that when returning to your corpse only some of the stuff is useable again. For example i've heard Rocket say if you are killed with a head shot your NVG's will be busted. In short, yes death should be a major hindrance and cause for much swearing and anger - not a shrug of the shoulders because all you have to do is run for 30mins or wait to be picked up in a vehicle. But i suppose everyone has their own way of playing - you just have to find the server that is right for your style.

Find a good gun, a nice sniping hill and wait.

I actually like the fact that there are lots of cars available on some servers. However, i really wish fuel was rarer and finite - once the fuel depot is empty then bad luck. As for starting with weapons and the like - i suppose some people play DayZ for different reasons. I once joined a server which gave me starting gear including ALL the tools and a DMR. I was a bit put off and confused so i climbed a hill and was promptly sniped. Have you tried the 2017 mod? Might not be your cup of tea, but i love it. No military weapons, hardly any tinned food and all resources are scarce. If you find an Enfield you think you are the king! I havent done it yet, but i hear that when you fix up vehicles they are all beat up as well - no shiny new vehicles to be had.

Ha ha and why would a brainless, hungry 'zombie' ever rest? Having stamina would be an evil addition, but an authentic one. It would make things very interesting.

Naked, hungry with a broken leg. That should be the hardcore spawn. Seriously though, i cant see Rocket going backwards and giving out gear to players. Some private hives do things like his though. I once joined a hive where i had every tool and a DMR as a starter weapon. Threw me out for a few minutes, i climbed a hill and was immediately sniped.

Most of the things you mention are the direct result of this being a mod of Arma II and will hopefully be fixed/addressed/completely revamped for the SA. Other things you mention, like knowing when somebody draws a gun or punishing banditry i cant agree with. I really dont want any interference from the game in how i should play or act. I dont want prompts. Peripheral dots, bandit skins? No - get rid of them. You say there isnt any cost for being a bandit? Why should there be a cost? Sure you get campers but you will soon learn their favourite spots and there is nothing better than creeping up behind a proned bandit sniper. Better still if you hatchet him in the head. Remember bandits are just as fearful of other players as you are......or they should be! Welcome anyways and enjoy!

So anyway, is everyone looking forward to Chernarus Plus - lots more enterable buildings and new locations? One of my hopes is that Green Mountain is fleshed out a bit more. Underground area anyone?

I like the idea of zombies "talking" to each other if it means that an aggroed zombie makes all others within earshot investigate as well. Not too sure about the crash site idea, i hope it isnt what we assume it to be.

My sarcastic point being: Do we want Rocket to tell us everything he is up to or do we want him to do what he does best? Remember only a year ago he was a normal bloke like you or i. Now he is hounded by the community and Gaming sites on a daily basis. Perhaps he just needs a breather before the inevitable madness that will ensue once Standalone is released? I am just as eager as the next person as far as a release date but for now the mod keeps me going.

I got to a similar stage ages ago. Once you get the good gear major paranoia hits and you almost become too scared to interact with anyone since you dont want to lose your good shit (i never use tents) So what i did was die and respawn - and i havent looked back. I love roaming between Cherno and Elektro, hatchet in hand. You meet people (good and bad) and you just have fun. I dont think i have been further north than Pusta for 5 months. Of course i have also tried other maps, which greatly add to the variety - my tip at the moment is DayZ 2017 - no military loot at all, hardly any tinned food - real survival. The Hobo Life.

Spawn in the middle of the NW airfield's runway - just to give the player a chance. Naked, freezing, sick, hungry, thirsty, bleeding with a broken leg and 2000 blood.

It will be a sad loss. Progress, eh? Now i am all choking up, staring out the window as Air Supply's "All Out of Love" starts playing.
