  1. I want lots of skins and clothing available to customise my character as i see fit. What i don't want is an arbitrary number to force a skin onto me. So what if someone has killed 10 innocent players - why should he be recognisable to everyone for his actions? Now if there were a way you could "tag" players so that when you see them kill others or attack you, you would recognise them if you ever crossed paths again. That would be a cool mechanic. But a skin change due to your actions - no thanks.
  2. A lesson i have learnt. Stick to Urals.

Yep. Lots of locations have prevailing winds (usually the oceans) but this doesn't mean the wind always comes from that direction. I used to work out bush a lot and i was never told to look to the clouds for east-west. The fact there weren't any clouds was beside the point. I am not a weather guru.

Will they just float east again or change with the weather?

    DayZ: Origins (RELEASED)

DZC should list a few servers - i can 'see' about 10 i think.

    Pro Tips Please

Get an axe and try to find and sneak up on players unawares. This is the best tip i can give for making you act carefully around the big cities. Not aggroing zombies is a big factor as well. The moment you have a zombie on your tail you can be sure another player is coming to investigate.

I want real hordes of zombies

I ran up and down the Lingor Airstrip once just to see how many zombies i could grab. I reckon i had close to 50 near the end when i ran into the ATC to see if i could shoot them all. I couldn't.
  8. How about rats the size of dogs chewing on a corpse as well?

    Standalone Idea: Base building/entrances.

I can imagine the first 2 in DayZ, but 3 and 4 seem a little far fetched. You suggest making concrete and steel bunkers with electronic access panels which can be hacked? How is this all feasible in a post apocalyptic world with no power or supplies? I am looking forward to bases but i just hope they aren't too over the top. Your suggestions aren't too unrealistic (apart from the electronic lock) but i do wonder if it would be possible to create such structures. I'm no builder so who knows?

    Graves

Be nice if you could make the player dig their own grave before killing them.

    EASY MODE!

I don't have a problem with there being different servers which cater for other play styles, but i wouldn't want there to be any cross over. If you play an "easy" server then you shouldn't be allowed to jump over to a "normal" one just because you got geared up and feel bad ass.

Where have you found your NVG's?

On a corpse at the base of a lighthouse. Fully geared up, he must have fallen. Cracked me up.

    A Range Of Behavior

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said he only becomes Mr Bad Ass Bandit when in the company of his friends. A true definition of a bully and a coward perhaps? Could he have shot you? He probably thought about it but wimped out because he was on his own. TBH, nowadays i tend to travel solo only allowing fleeting moments where i meet other random friendlies (to bloodbag, give rides etc). I met a guy on a server the other night and even though he was friendly i just got the feeling he was eyeing my M107 the whole time. First chance i got i vanished into the trees.

    A question about zombies...

Why would their brains be rotting? They aren't dead. Watch the film 28 Days Later for a peek at what the Infected more or less look and act like. As for the Deer stands - i am no military expert, but isn't it just a term for a guard watchtower?
  15. DemonGroover

friendly fire should be an option on servers

No, it just encourages you not to shoot straight because it no longer matters. And how exactly do 'lone pricks' ruin the game? I consider myself a 'lone prick' most of the time but am pretty friendly up to a point (or is that a prick).

Why can't DayZ be like this?

    Ooops!

Brilliant video. Was sad when the Russian guy got shot.

I think the concern was your point that once clothed and fed people start hunting each other as in real life - for entertainment. What kind of life do you lead where once you are sheltered and fed you think "OK then, guess i'll go out now and shoot the neighbours!"

    Modception and DayZ copyright.

As far as i am aware, if they are using any of Rocket's code then credit must be given. What this credit is, is another matter and up to Rocket and BI i suppose. I have tried Origins for an hour or two and haven't really progressed since it turned into a deathmatch. Considering there is now a common enemy (apart from the sporadic zombies) i rather hoped for a combined effort. It will be interesting to see what happens with these "inspired by DayZ" spinoffs and especially how Rocket feels about them.

So rocket, a western city eh?

Don't forget that classic Scottish weapon - the Headbutt. Seriously though an Edinburgh map would be awesome. The castle, new and old towns, a nearby army base, and the Queens palace to romp in.
  21. That first contact is definitely hard. I find making sure i have cover while talking on Direct works best. Of course just running into someone around a corner is also a possibility. Unfortunately there are still douchebags who say "Hey buddy, friendly" and the moment you come out from cover they fire upon you. Happened to me last night - i walked out to meet a guy and he lights me up with a Bizon. Ha ha - a Bizon, i thought, as i pumped 5 shots into him with my AK. But then again i also kept running into another player around a city in Taviana. We'd meet up, bloodbag each other and run off again. Being friendly doesn't just mean you have to hang out together. Being a friendly is definitely a harder gamestyle than being a douche bandit. With banditry you don't have to worry about player contact as you are just going to shoot the first chance you get anyway.

Spawn in random buildings/houses around the map

I think the idea of Respawning on the coast is too ingrained into the DayZ experience now. It is a DayZ institution - you spawn on the beach without a clue where you are (get rid of the pop up locater as well). I think Rocket said it in a recent interview - his idea is that you spawn and inland is the great unknown, a lure.

DayZ Feature Request Poll #3 - "The final poll"

Done. Some good suggestions there. Can't remember was there one where you could eat/drink cans directly without having to put them in your Inventory first? I only found one about drinking directly from a water source.

    Day Z Urban Legends

DayZ Origins - a whole city of rich survivors who send out Elite NPC's onto Taviana Island, where you and all other players are scavenging. Time to find that city.

    DayZ: Origins (RELEASED)

Interesting concept - very Land of the Dead. I am downloading this now and am very intrigued. EDIT: Managed to get onto a server with 60+ people - spawned near Lyepestok so expected a bit of PvP. I could see all the death messages and it was apparent everyone was killing each other. Fair enough i thought as i just wanted a quick look around. All seems good so far. There dont appear to be many zombies (not sure if this is done on purpose) though. Am really interested to get towards Survivor City and check it out. Nice work
