Events you would like to take part in or watch on Youtube?
DemonGroover replied to Slugfoot's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We could have the Sniper Dash on the NWA runway. Snipers sit in the ATC and players have to see how far they can run down the runway before getting blown away. -
I'm Confused Please Help.
DemonGroover replied to mronebadkid's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Download a map from DayZ Commander for example and you can play on these maps. Even though your character name may be the same the saves aren't linked so eventually you end up having about 15 different DayZ games going because you have played on15 different maps. My recommendations are Taviana, Lingor and Namalsk. -
FRANKIEonPCin1080p - Mar 2013 - Interview with Matt Lightfoot
DemonGroover replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Nice. -
I just think that full character customisation could be used as an inbuilt difficulty factor that the player can give to him/herself. Everyone could survive a few days with a young, athletic character that can run, jump, carry huge guns and the like, but try surviving as an 80 year old with a bad hip, who can only hold one tin of beans and a pistol to see how tough everyone is. Big, small, young, old that's my idea of full customisation.

I hope that you can fully customise your character so i can be a midget or an 80 year old granny if i want to.

[Questions & Suggestions] DayZ Standalone
DemonGroover replied to supertine's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hello there, some nice ideas in there 1. I think this is pretty much in effect - the best military gear is found in barracks, deer stands and military tents, whilst the best supplies of food and medicine is found in supermarkets and hospitals 2. I don't think NPC's of this nature fit into the DayZ world, where everything is player driven. Some free towns and trader towns have been created in game before but invariably fall. Anything you want in game should be player driven - you want to set up bounties then give it a go. 3. Currency is pretty useless but bartering is quite common even now. I have often traded guns, food or medicine for another item. I dont think the game needs a currency implemented by the devs - again, it needs to be player driven. 4 and 5 - see point 1 6. I like this idea and i am hopeful something like this is implemented whereby you scavenge for parts and build your own "Mad Max" type vehicle. Some mods already have a system like this 7. Temporary Safe zones could be implemented by clearing an area of zombies i suppose , but already safe areas free of zombies are easy to find even now. 8. I think that underground bases are the way to go. Unfortunately due to the nature of the game, server hopping would negate any surface base you can create. How secure can it be if someone can just log in behind you and light you up? 9. I agree, food should be scarcer. Water not so but as in point 10 may require boiling to rid it of disease. 11. Diseases are a big thing for the SA - though getting infected by a zombie i am sure isn't on the cards (we are immune, i think) 12. I think more housing and enterable buildings are a feature of the SA 13. It would be nice to be able to block a door with furniture etc 14. With the new zombie models and optimisation hopefully wandering hordes are a possibility - i agree we need some danger away from towns and villages, there should be a chance of finding zombies anywhere 15. I agree that zombies should be more attracted to lights, fires etc 16. Grouping is entirely up to the players - the only way the game should encourage helping one another is to create a world where it is more advantageous to help than KOS. For example by making the zombies a major threat players may think twice before firing a shot at another player in the middle of Cherno 17. Not a fan of AI controlled towns etc 18. Hopefully Molotov cocktails make it in game. I also like the idea of being able to blow up gas stations 19. I really hope a sleep mechanic doesn't make it in game. I know it is realistic but some things dont need to be implemented, I always assume when i log off my character goes to sleep 20. Why would you want to do this? Tents need to be grounded since you have to peg them in. 21. Like point 19 i don't see the need for sleeping to be in game, but perhaps with a sleeping bag you can regain warmth or something 22. I agree the more items available the better 23. It is more of a combination - many things are being done independently to Arma 3 that you could consider it its own engine Anyway nice first post. A few things have been mentioned previously but are still open for discussion. -
The clue is in your thread title. I will move it over for you. {Shazam}

You must have been Sleep-hacking.

Bullet wounds are horribly unrealistic
DemonGroover replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think there has to be a trade off between what is realistic and what should be put in a game. If you want bullet damage to be ultra realistic then pretty much any bullet wound would be the end in a scenario where there are no doctors and you are scraping around in the mud. I am not too sure people would play a game this extreme. I do hope the effects of damage are better in SA and i think limping, broken arms, legs, ribs etc are going to be a feature some day. Not to mention diseases. I dont want the game to be too ultra realistic - i mean if you dropped me in a warzone with a gun IRL i doubt i would last 2 minutes. -
I wouldn't mind seeing a wandering NPC called Max - who is very Mad.

What Have you Expected DayZ to be?
DemonGroover replied to Goreman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I didn't really have any expectations i just thought it sounded awesome - a survival game in a zombie apocalypse. I too was in the midst of playing Skyrim - and i haven't really played it since. -
Radios (no chat channels except direct)
DemonGroover replied to cf3kylerees's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I really like the idea of being able to use Side chat, or a radio channel only after finding a radio. It would be cool to find a radio, turn it on and be able to speak to others in range. The problem is and will always be people using Skype or Teamspeak, therefore nullifying the need for radios. -
A friend of mine asked me an interesting question yesterday...
DemonGroover replied to phamilton82's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You cant win. Eventually you will die. One headshot while scavenging for beans and it is game over. That's the beauty of the game. Eventually you end up respawning on a beach with nothing and you have to start over. Unless of course you have a hidden stash and friends who can come grab you with a Huey. -
Arma3 Alpha release potential Impact on Dayz Mod/SA
DemonGroover replied to OrLoK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I admit that i knew absolutely nothing about Arma before i stumbled upon DayZ. Playing DayZ gave me reason to try out some of the other features and mods of Arma 2. I would never have played a military simulator if it wasn't for the DayZ mod. I dont think it will be long before a DayZ mod comes out for Arma 3 (assuming Rocket allows it of course) so this could have a drastic effect on the DayZ mod in Arma 2. I don't think anything will affect the SA though as i view them completely separate and tbh the SA is all i really care about at the moment. I do think that Arma 3 could give us a bit of insight into some of the things we may see in the SA. Arma 3 looks cool and i am downloading now but as soon as SA is released publically i can see myself playing that non stop once again. -
Clearing an area out for a certain period of time would be reward enough i think. Also, finding a silenced weapon, finding a nice spot and head shotting as many zombies as possible is always good for aiming practice. If you kill enough zombies you will naturally get better at aiming - there doesn't really need to be an in game mechanic.

What do you want to NOT be realistic?
DemonGroover replied to phillyjoker's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You are going to be very disappointed then. This is one of the features that will change how people play the game - no longer will you be able to just run through towns without a care. It was always silly that some invisible force field made the zombies slow to a walk once they entered a building. For me one of the things that doesn't need to be realistic is sleeping - i don't think there is any need to implement sleeping into any multi player game. -
The giving of a title to the one they call "OrLok"
DemonGroover replied to TheDesigner's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Anything else you want to sell Orlok? I am quite partial to souls. -
Some servers are like that - they obviously need a restart. Try another. You're not playing the DayZ 2017 mod are you - all i've ever found were tin cans.

Worst Weapon In Dayz -Vote
DemonGroover replied to BuzzBurridge's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I must admit that i never pick up a double barrel shotgun unless i am completely unarmed and i will quite happily drop it for a hatchet. -
What would YOU like to see in Standalone?
DemonGroover replied to Puffy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Moveable objects like furniture. I am so tired of getting blocked and stopped by chairs in games. -
No podcast for a while? How come? There has been plenty to talk about.

You bastard! At least i let them bloodbag me and gain some humanity before killing them!

Dayz Standalone Zombie Thesis and Gameplay Mechanics
DemonGroover replied to guyver1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Very interesting, well done my good chap. Just one quick note on your population percentages. Going on these numbers it would be quite "easy" to kill all the dangerous fast zombies and then just be able to wander about since the others are slow and easily avoidable (about 70% of your total). I would up the fast zombie numbers up. -
What's up with people wanting to find No PvP servers?
DemonGroover replied to recklesspanz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Like a few others i am not really that interested in PvE servers as i actually enjoy player interaction, even if death can swiftly follow. For me, if you take away the threat of a player the game loses something greatly. Some players enjoy the exploration aspect of DayZ though and aren't too keen on the PvP that can eventuate. Or more simply the Kos attitude some players have. I do understand the attraction of non PvP for some and if there comes a point where zombies are a real threat i may even enjoy a game or two myself. -
Well hello Ryan, welcome to the forums. If you want people to play with try the Survivor HQ - in fact i will move this thread over there for you.
