I actually wouldn't mind a rare zed or two swinging an axe or whatever. It would definitely add to the tension if you turn around and see a screaming zed running at you swinging an axe wildly above his head. But like you said, definitely no guns.
-
Nice one. For too long sniping someone has been easy with a zeroed weapon. No skill is needed if you just have to sight and shoot. Any chance of the recoil being changed as well so that the scope doesn't automatically bounce back to your previous sight?

Seaking opinion - admin "friendliness"
DemonGroover replied to dayz247's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This is deja vu. My 6 and 4 year old children had this exact same argument last weekend. But seriously ( >:( ) Elixor, the old "You did it, so why can't i?" excuse went out during the Nuremberg Trials of WW2 -

How do you fight players in CQC?
DemonGroover replied to applejaxc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
More often than not when i get shot at it is from someone unseen (i generally avoid players i see) so my general tactic is to do the 'classic' run away in random zig zags until i find cover. Sometimes they will then try and find you, giving you the advantage if you see them coming. Grenades are also very handy. -
Rivers and Islands: A Use for Boats
DemonGroover replied to mizzoufan96's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
From what i understand (from PAX) rivers are hard to do in game. I think the water needs to be at sea level and so having rivers with different elevations wouldn't be possible - you have to gouge out the terrain so the water 'flows' into the river (i could be wrong on this). The various lakes dotted about are actually objects rather than part of the environment. If possible though rivers would definitely be a nice addition and i am sure some inlets could be created. -
DayZ SA: Make zombies a threat
DemonGroover replied to maninthewall's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Now that i would like to see. Snipers shooting down on Elektro getting their ass handed to them as they aggro 50 zombies to their location. -
Disabling Post Processing will totally get rid of it.....i think.

Is using teamspeak 'cheating'?
DemonGroover replied to Maloney (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
TBH i think that Teamspeak and Skype, or any other 3rd party tool is an exploit. I wouldn't go far as to call it cheating but i can see where your friend is coming from. An exploit is anything that can be used which isn't meant to be part of the game design. In DayZ Vanilla you aren't allowed to talk to someone in Sidechat because it is deemed unrealistic. You shouldn't be able to magically talk to someone that is on the other side of the map. But then again, you shouldn't be able to see around/over walls in 3rd person either. However, it's a game and not being able to communicate with your friends would make the game unplayable to a lot of people. Hopefully the implementation of radios in the SA will give players reason to try the in game communication options instead of using the psychic abilities of Skype/Teamspeak, but i really don't think it will. It doesn't bother me tbh, i use them myself sometimes. -
DayZ SA: Make zombies a threat
DemonGroover replied to maninthewall's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
@Killzone_Kid - that's a very interesting video. I wouldn't mind coming across a rare zombie or two that is swinging an axe or machete. No guns though! As for zombies in the SA - from what i understand there will be at least 3 major changes which will make zombies much more of a threat. There will be much more of them, they will follow you better and they will be able to run indoors. Those things alone will make avoiding zombies much more of a necessity rather than running through towns popping through the closest building to avoid the zombie conga line. I think the game needs to reach the point where zombies are to be avoided at all costs otherwise you are in a world of hurt. Unless you are Chuck Norris at no point should there be an option where you think running through Cherno and alerting zombies is a good idea. Aggroing a zombie should give you the feeling that a blood curdling cannibal is on your tail rather than a bothersome mosquito. -

[3D model] Different Food Qualities (3/29 Update)

Nice work Joey, but how about a cricket bat? I'd love to go all Shaun of the Dead on some Zeds. -
You have to see that :D hahaha

Took a while to get going but was pretty funny. That Aussie guy sounded like the Backpacker Murderer. -
I know that - they grow on trees and are put in cans by Bronies.

Did you find 25 cans of muffins on his body?

Crafting. Toilet paper + fuel + empty whisky bottle + box of matches = Molotov Cocktail
-
Why would i need toilet paper to take a piss?

Not too sure about sewers or subways - seems a bit too cliche to me. How any games have you had to enter the sewers? I wouldnt mind tunnels though - maybe a road or train track through a mountainside, 1km or so long.

[video series] Cannibal Tales of Taviana
DemonGroover replied to Samurai004's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I see you have this video in DayZ Gallery so i'll lock this down. -
As someone has said, playing as a zombie (never mind that the dead don't rise in this game) isn't feasible. The zombies are brain dead half the time, wandering around aimlessly until they spot someone in their line of sight or hear something. Would a player act like this? No, instead we would have player controlled zombies staking out the best spots, stalking players and generally acting very un-zombie like in trying to ambush survivors......in fact you know what i have just described...a bandit.

I think you should have to type "raise weapon" before you can aim. -
I agree that massive quantities isnt the way to go but there should definitely be more zombies around. Cherno and Elektro should be places of extreme high risk of zombies, instead of just PvP.

I don't know if you can confine immaturity to 12-15 year olds. I have had some experiences in DayZ where supposed grown men acted like complete turnips. Point of fact last night - i was creeping around Balota airfield with my hatchet (i had a revolver also) when i was shot at. I quickly ducked into a hangar and hid behind a container. Soon enough i hear a player call out "Hey buddy i want to suck your ...." (you get the point) This was funny for about 30 seconds but he kept repeating it ad nauseum for 5 minutes. Eventually, just for some peace and quiet i charged him, he shot me and broke my legs. Thinking i only had a hatchet he continued his tirade of "I want to ..... " while circling me with his AK. He carried on like this for another 5 minutes! Eventually i told him to just shoot me but he ignored me and carried on with his nonsense. I must say at this point i was not enjoying the experience. At one point he started to throw flares at me and it was during his motion of throwing a flare, i placed my hatchet back on my toolbelt, rearming my revolver and i shot him clean in the head. Ha - now that was enjoyable!

Nice - much better than a standard loot map - you just make your own as you play. Different kinds of markers and variable sizes would be nice but i realise it is early days yet. Good job

The big hope for SA is that zombies can no longer be blatantly ignored, they chase better and more importantly don't hit an invisible wall and slow to a walk indoors. I reckon these factors alone will change the way people play the SA. Add many more zombies onto the server (possibly 1000's) and you have zombies suddenly becoming a major issue. So as far as PvP goes you may have to think "Do i want to shoot that guy if doing so brings a whole world of hurt down on me?", "Is it worth killing an unarmed new spawn?" PvP will always be there (and we definitely need it, can you imagine the game if the only threat were zombies - boring!) but i really think the PvE aspects are going to be greatly increased.
