Last line was a joke.

This game should have been released solely on consoles. That way everyone has the same hardware and the settings can be locked so no one can "cheat" their way to a better experience. Oh wait, we have to restrict the size of your television. Players with 55 inch TV's will have a huge, unfair advantage over players with smaller TVs.

I have to agree. From my experience with the mod, I would be VERY hesitant to light a fire anywhere on a packed server. We need more wide open, empty spaces in IMHO.

Played STALKER right when it came out several years ago. Hell, I followed its development for years before that and suffered through every delay. The game I finally was able to play wasn't quite what I thought it would be and it was a buggy mess, but it was well worth it. There's a million mods out there for it now, so if you have the patience give it a try.

Told this story once in another thread, but it's relevant here. I spawned near Balota and since I nothing to lose I thought I'd see what I could find. I didn't expect to see much, but I did manage to loot a pipe wrench on the way, which would come in handy just a little bit later. My expectations were confirmed with very little loot in the tower and the hangers. However, once I was at the top of the hanger scanning the new military area some new spawn came after me with his bare hands. I guess he didn't notice my pipe wrench. He was already bleeding when he attacked me so I can only assume he was desperate and hoping I had bandages on me or something. Anyway, just a couple of swings does him in when one of his buddies rushes up the stairs and attacks me. He's also a fresh spawn so he doesn't last much longer. By this time I'm shaking like a leaf. I had never experienced a fight like this one. Even in the mod, which I have played for about a year or so. Sure, I've been in plenty of gun fights but it was always against one person. I'm usually a loner. I avoid the big cities in favor of heading north and looting the small towns here and there until I end up at an airfield. After leaving the tower, I head toward the barracks when another fresh spawn approaches me. He sees me, stops, and then lifts his hands to attack. He flips me the bird and charges and I end up killing him also. Three kills and nothing to show for it but a pipe wrench and a backpack. Just another day in DayZ.

Whenever I step into a stream, I lose the ability to run (shift-w). I can sprint by double tapping the w key, but that is it. At first, I assumed it was an attempt at realism since my clothes would be actually soaked if I ran through a stream, but this bug hangs around until I log out.

I hear zombies in wooded areas and footsteps and drinking sounds when in buildings. As if I wasn't paranoid enough already.

Glad to hear this is happening to someone else. I assumed it was the Green Mountain faeries trying to infiltrate my brain, again.

I have a similar story. First time I logged in and managed to have some daylight, so I hot-footed it toward Balota to try my luck. I made it to the top of the tower when all of a sudden I see some guy bleeding behind me. He immediately starts punching me, but I guess he didn't notice that I was carrying a wrench, so I clobbered him quick. After he's down, one of his buddies tries to fight me bare fisted and gets the same treatment. Once it's done I shake my head in disbelief while looting what little gear they had and then leave the tower and head for the barracks. Just outside another fresh spawn comes up to me, flips me the bird, and then proceeds to box me to death. Two good swings of my still pristine wrench ends it for him. All that trouble and I only ended up with some gun parts and a bunch of shells.

Just got home from work and Chernarus servers are coming up just fine now. /shrugs.

I've been playing in Namalsk for awhile and now I want to play the Chernarus map. When using sixupdater I can only choose Namalsk servers even when I pick Chernarus servers.

Special thanks to the two gentlemen who helped me out from Balota to Cherno on US 1988. Never got their names, but they helped me get geared up so that I could continue on with my loner ways up north. Nice to actually meet players who dont KOS for a change.
