  1. Yeah, i see your point with being new, i guess it can be a bit daunting making the jump from console to PC, tho im suprised you didnt ask beforehand in our comms or even the hardware/software section of our forums, hell, even of asked silver..:) I don't roll with the above mentioned, more so hunt them on a nightly basis...lol You would know me as Sgt.xander, one of the head admins and member of BSM for somewhere around 10 years now. Never had the pleasure of getting into a fight with you or Thane but i know that your presence there did encourage other to play as a squad and try to engage you both. anyways, maybe see you out there when the standalone comes out or maybe before..;) danny.
  2. I don't usually get involved in shit-throwning topics but this is stupid. Noxious, you sound like a pretty clued up chap and certainly not stupid. WHY would you click a link on youtube for an 'fps fix' when its obviously not the thing to do? trolled and hooked, cd stolen and banned [or so it was told]....not really clever. Shame too as i enjoyed having a bandit like you on the server, it made things fun. The accusations of bad admins is bollocks too, they are looking out after their community and their players, just off this server they have made new regulars who have been invited to become part of the group. May I remind you once again that the site clearly states any player with the prefix 'Sgt' is an admin, [bSM] are regs who have been invited to become part of the community. Whats wrong with a little banter anyways?...gets the peeps riled up and encourages them to fight/be more cautious in what they do. I guess they could always disable the side comms. From my understanding, the BSM dudes who run the server [as far as i know] try to keep it a fair playing ground for all aspects of player, from bambi to pro. It really doesn't matter as long as the server is having a laugh and peaple enjoy it. Shame to see you go as well Thane, some good laughs had but i guess your choice of leaving was exactly that. Good luck in your gaming lads.
  3. just wanted to shout out thanks to all that pushed the server to 50/60 players tonight, some good battles, some hackers banned and some mad vehicle chases! Cheers all!
  4. i shall be about later too, be nice to get a bit of PvP in ^_^
  5. Something we are debating is to have a PvP night where we backup the DB, switch maps and load out peaple with a basic kit and shoot the hell outta eachother. Thoughts please peaple..:) btw, in-game name is [bSM]Sgt.xander.
  6. Found this server with a few of my community about a week back and have been having a good time playing there until last night when things went wrong. I left after a good nights looting and a little bit of bandit action after the Admins reset the server 3 times in a short space of time. On the 3rd time, just after we had raided a chopper base the server was dropped again only to cause us to loose the attack chopper and die. I'm not bothered at all about loss of items or the chopper [We run our own community private server so this was a getaway server] but more the fact the admins could so blatently show how not to behave when being given a little bit of a hard time by a few bandits. I left after this incident and logged off, only today to get on our TS channel to find 4 of our community were banned for being 'too good' and 'c*nts' which is usual lame excuses when Admins can't be bothered. One of our community was also given racial abuse for being German by the admin called KingCobra. Nothing much I can really say regarding the comments currently as I wasn't about but there are screenshots of a majority of the convo which i will post up later.

    Player bodies despawning

Depending on what server your on, the bodies do dissapear after a set amount of time. We have had firefights where no-one has been burying bodies and they still sink. This seems to be mainly on Vilayer servers altho it could be a game-wide update to help run servers more smoothly.

    Vilayer Server help

We also wanted to lock a server down for clan only play, but were told it would not start as it cannot connect to the vilayer hive [forget the name] so at the time of asking it was impossible to start it up. The guy you need to talk to at vilayer is called Lee. Off the top of my head, i think the TS ip is; ts3.vilayer.com

    GB #500. SUKA Server Hackers.

Same shit, different day....on public you have no chance of getting any action taken unless you get vid evidence or log proof, even then you'll be lucky if they bother to add them to the ban list that they can now buy their way out of. Sad thing is so many peaple enjoy this game even in it's Alpha stage and yet so many peaple hack. The hackers do spoil the game true, but all the time they do all they are doing is giving Battleye or whatever party the details of how they are exploiting the code, so while its in Alpha/Beta this hacker activity is crucial to future Anti-cheat programs that will be run in the final product. We are part of a test to see what the future faces for this game, and as crap as it is that we get hacked, its part of the plan, after all, you cant counteract what you do not expect and that is why we play this mod.
  10. I think as a Admin, its a duty to make sure the server is running correctly and with the items/vehicles/crash sites all spawning when they should. We were hit, as many have been and everything was teleported, just gone....this killed the moral of probably 20 or so regs and admins alike. A little digging into the logs and we were able to let the players know things were on map and to keep looking which in turn kept them playing, plus the fact unless you have figured out how to read the co-ords, its not that simple to pinpoint [yes, you can flame me for that!..;P ] The ability of being able to say 'yes, the chopper is on map' is a huge boost for many of our lads who after the last mass wipe were happy not to play. 50/50 on this tbh as if its a private sanctuary/community funded server then i would want the full control to a trusted Admin where as on an open public server the chances are a few bad apples would spoilt it.
  11. Yeah, i agree with Paddy there.....sometimes it's difficult on-the-fly to ban or prove who hacked what but given a little time in the logs it's not that hard to. As a legit player, and providing the tents were not bugged, I would have buried the hacked items on a dead zed, saved the tents empty and maybe alerted an Admin to the issue as they should be able to acsess the logs and see who scripted the items in.

No UH1H on my own Server?

We have a similar issue on our server, hacker turned up, teleported the tents and all vehicles out into the sea and insta-killed us all. The server provider said we would get the vehicles back 'shortly' but that was over a week ago. Anyway, a hacker came on last night and teleported all the missing vehicles back onto the map and then was killed after being observed teleporting over the map [we have about 10 active admins in server pretty much all the time] so when he accused one of combat logging and demanded we ban him, he was removed and the hacked guns buried. I checked the server logs this morning and it states that 2 UH1H have been spawned but where we simply do not know as the server provider will not allow the chap who's paying for the server check the files to ensure its not spawned back out in the sea. We run a sanctuary server so expected more ability to run it as admins.

BE script restriction 41 and 38?

The restriction 41 is an issue a lot of peaple are having with the new update, however I'm aware that server admins are able to roll the version back to allow players to join the servers again. Bad update I guess.
  14. Damn good post! Without going off-topic here, i just wanted to explain something about why our community has survived 10 years of gaming through numourous games and waves of hackers, it's because we care about the games we host and also about the community members we have following us. Dayz seems to have hit a nerve with a good portion of our members and as such, most nights we have between 5-15 members in our TS channel, which is growing rapidly. We have all been at the end of a hacker's fun, and we all know how it feels to be raped of kit but we are all aware that it can happen, and will happen again so we try not to let it bother us. Last night we were hit again but this time it emptied the server and it didn't fill back up. Admins should be allowed to have a bit more control over the servers is what i hear on a daily basis and to a point i fully agree, but i also understand that there are a lot of peaple new to the game that would class a good kill as dodgy because they are used to playing games along the lines of COD, MW etc and aren't used to this kind of survival genre. You got my beans on the post there Ray.
  15. We tend to use Teamspeak as its what we host along with our other games. We do have a few US Admins too, only one of them is playing Z tho. Don't worry about killing me, it happens a lot :D
  16. Yeah,it's pretty funny when you see that. Most of the lads in our group are Admins in our community and as such we dont tolorate hacking or glitching to an unfair advantage. We all know that the game is a pre-alpha so loosing kit, being teleported etc etc is just part of the game currently and theres simply nothing that we can do about it. The chopper is not hacked in as we have repaired and run sorties out in it on a good few occasions, some good and some bad...;) To give you an idea of how it was last night, in our TS channel we had an age group of 17-50, myself being 35, there were players from Sweden,Germany,Ireland and the UK. There were 2 groups running different tasks; one picking up fallen team mates and one hunting for supplies. I'm also sure that we could see what we can find in the way of transport for you too as most of us love the military side of the game and stomp ground from a to b.
  17. Yeah, Leon is trying to sort the time issue out, my eyes are now round and green due to the amount of night playing we have been doing. When Leon got it set back to daylight, the server was 75% filled in no time at all which made the play a lot more fun. We have seen a lot of activity with regards to the vehicles lately too, I have been hunting for a motorbike for 2 weeks now and not found one but yesterday 2 bicycles and a motorbike were spotted on the coast, a jeep and 2 cars were seen racing about and the chopper was spotted heading North so it was busy. The SVD camo might have been my brothers, but i think his other half banned him off game last night so i will phone him later and see if he wants it back, if not enjoy it..:)
  18. Hey, no worries at all, my group grabbed what they could off my corpse and we met up further down the coast. We were looking for vehicles [hence why we let peaple run off with them] and had a party of 6 or so scouting bero for supplies so we spawned a shit load of zeds in too. Was a damn nice shot though ;)

    AS 50 for free?

kill em, make sure the hacked item is in their inventory and bury the bodies.
  20. Yeah, we run similar too, always in a group and normally with high placed backup. Might be an idea to pop onto our TS so we dont get any friendly fire incidents :D Shout one of us when we are in game and we will sort it.
  21. I think we found it around the corner from the Cap later on last night although it was missing a few parts..;)
  22. I have been killed more times at stary than i can remember so I only loot there if I'm returning from northern camps. If its gear your after, i would suggest stocking up on food and water and trekking the hills in search of camps. Use the map to locate what you would consider a 'safe' area to pitch and head for it via waypoint/gps or plain old map reading. Tents tend to be better stocked than stary too, but be cautious of players guarding them.
