Why do peoples actions need to dictate their appearance?

I don't agree with everyone's seemingly desperate need to make bandits identifiable. "Make them covered in blood if they PK!" "Bandits should get spiky armor and look evil!" "Why don't their eyes glow and shoot laser beams of griefing if they have ever killed another player" or "why can't the developers write the programming for DayZ to read every players mind magically so it will pop up on your screen if the person in front of you is going to be friendly or not!" I've never been a bandit, but if I was I wouldn't be happy with the forced skin change, and as a hero I don't want to be able if the the person I'm coming up on is good or bad. There shouldn't be any way to tell... If you disagree with me I am trying to understand your viewpoint...- 96 replies

Wild dogs, Zombies attacking animals and infected meat

I would like to see wild dogs, something like emaciated strays scavenging around. They could possibly be aggressive if you got to close, maybe even barking at you and alerting Z's the dog would just run from. Could even make it so if you shot and wounded the dog it would make noise that would attract6 Zs as well, whimpering or something that you could use as a distraction. Intrinsic to that would be that Zs would engage wildlife; deer, sheep, cown, boars, dogs, if they made some of the animals aggressive they could have them be aggro'd by Zs And then my last concept would be infected mean, if a Zombie has attacked an animal and you kill and gut it, or if you come across an already dead animal and gut it, then the meat would give you an infection or illness when consumed. Ideas? Refinement? Constructive criticism? **Edited out the email footer**

I feel like DayZ, at least to me, isn't about being a sandbox game in an apocalyptic setting, but is supposed to be about surviving in that environment; adding a waste mechanic wouldn't really add or subtract to the survival aspect outside of rare circumstances where you're literally getting caught with your pants down, it would just be adding a layer of realism that isn't really necessary; just realism for the sake of realism, like making animals blink or making paint peel on buildings, it's more realistic, but it doesn't add anything.

I think you'll be happy with the recent update, a lot of people are complaining about the changes, easier to get infected, harder to get antibiotics, zombies are more challenging, but I really like the way the mod is now. Survival is the priority again.

Hey, sorry, I just saw that this post updated, I'm glad you got it working though!! I really like Commander, it does all the work for you so you can just hop in and enjoy playing.

Don't know if you use DayZ Commander or not, but it has a 'Hide Unofficial' option you can use to help sort. I don't off the top of my head know of a good server, I usually just jump into a random one.

Sadist. Really though I like the idea of there being a somewhat self detrimental way of making zombies not agro you. Being infected doesn't really work because the infection you get in game isn't the Z infection. Smearing blood and guts on you is closer but I think that might be a bit gruesome for everyone's tastes, whether you like it or not it has to appeal to the broader DayZ community or it won't be implemented. But possibly an Item you could carry, something akin to gore that would mask your smell, assuming smell is a factor with these zombies, coupled with having to walk slowly to slip by.

I don't feel that this complex of a system for waste is necessary to make the experience more, and might make for an unpleasant and cumbersome addition. For people that are set on having something like this perhaps something more pared down and simplified, a single meter that fills up slowly over time at a steady rate if your character isn't starved or dehydrated and a single function for the character relieving themselves.

I agree with OP, I find that the broken leg mechanic doesn't add to the game, just creates an insanely inconvenient mechanic; they could just as easily just make you lose blood based on distance fallen. Edit for grammar
