it's your story bro
-
one day when you notice you have no real friends, when you lay awake at night wondering where it all went wrong, why your life has amounted to less than a rats fart in the wind your stunted mind will recall this incident and all will become clear.
-
be interesting to hear the results when the survey has run it's course. good luck with your assignment
-
that was, without a shadow of a doubt, the most entertaining thing i've read on this forum since the night of the bayonet =)
-
did the survey =) i think the last question is a bit incomplete, what about asians, arabs and other ethnic groups all of whom are represented in dayz, also who would trust a guy wandering around a post apocalyptic world sporting blue and white braveheart style face paint?

IGN:Rasta AGE:29 DayZ Experience::5 months Timezone:UK wabbit recommended your server and that is good enough for me -
you have failed to grasp any of my points, I am pro bandit. It was you who brought zorro to the conversation. I'll waste no more words on you as you are clearly a bit thick.

happens without a weapon too

Good idea. Would give players an interesting set of choices - 1) Leave the body where it is 2) Bury the body (would need to be on soft ground and require a shovel) 3) Move the body (to a safer spot for looting, just to hide it (quicker/safer than burial on the spot?), to get it to soft ground to bury it or to place it in a better spot for player/zombie baiting) beans to you

^^ what he said, if you follow his advice, avoid panic and don't get yourself cornered you'll always survive zeds. Except for those glitches you refer to which we all experience, like rocks and trees that you can't really avoid or prevent.

Zorro, Robin Hood - whatever, these are just examples from history and fiction of those who live outside of the accepted rule of law yet are not necesarily bad or morally bankrupt. My point was that there are bandits and there are bandits, some are cowardly peices of shit who beach camp and kill new spawns for lulz and clearly possess no 'in-game' moral code, and at the other end of the spectrum there are bandits who only engage those who have a chance to defend themselves and, for me at least that behaviour does indeed demonstrate a kind of moral code. As for make believe and pretending, this is a game dude, it ain't real, it's where we come to literally make believe and pretend.

I still haven't fouuuuuund what I'm looking forrrrr, shut up Bono you pretentious twat.

Obviously there are levels of banditry, some players have turned being a bandit into a fine art and have a clear moral code they strive to adhere to. unfortunately those fresh spawn killers and coast campers? they are bandits too
-
bandit logic - If I see a player and i don't know him i will kill him, I'll say nothing and if i'm lucky he'll let slip his anger in direct chat and I shall smile as I reload.

agreed, awesome weapon but the ammo taking up too much space means no-one sane uses it, which is a shame, 4-6 bolts per slot and there is a completely different situation.
-
great update, not sure why eating in vehicles has been stopped, it leads to some tricky situations - ''...er pilot, can you set the heli down please, i need to get out to eat my beans'' prolly not something you'll hear ever in real life.

Lets not make bandits worse, lets make heroes better.
Rastamaus replied to Agiantstick's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i do see where you're coming from dude, but have you considered the possibilty that there are just more bastards in the world than good deed doers? people will play the way thier conscience dictates, encouraging or rather trying to impose a differing style on anyone will ruin dayz. There are rewards for playing differently. As mentioned in several posts above, being a good guy is rewarded, skillfull play is rewarded, team play is rewarded and yes being a total shit is rewarded, I'm not sure what else is needed. -
Counter-Bandit measures. In game sanity?
Rastamaus replied to nathanmccormick's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
now you're talking, this is the way to combat the percieved bandit problem =) become anti-bandit bandits, this will bring the kill count crashing down. Bandits want pvp, they play dayz for the pvp, they want you to fight back because they live for pvp. If you want to reduce the number of bandits then apply a little 'in-game sanity' of your own and adjust your play style, get smarter so they get less kills and eventually get bored. Then they'll go back to COD. I have watched and giggled at countless 'survivors' running around the big citys completely oblivious to any danger, standing on rooftops, ignoring any cover, crouch walking across open fields just below renowned sniper positions, sprinting along roads and across airstrips, approaching armed players while unarmed themselves pleading 'friendly, friendly, don't shoot' - all manner of stupidity is on display, it's like a comedy wildlife show. These guys are just begging to be killed and it is these very same players who rage in side chat and on the forums about the bastard that shot them and how we need to sort out the bandit problem. No cure for this problem, as long as there are fools there'll be bandits lining up to kill 'em, fish in a barrel style. -
Best and worst feeling in DayZ?
Rastamaus replied to morgan32's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
best - finding a chopper that's ready to go (only happened once, months ago, but the hard on is still wearing off) worst - disconnecting for a tea break close to the NWAF fully geared, reconnecting after same tea break close to Kamenka with no gear, no backpack, no nuthin, (only happened once, months ago, the pain from breaking my knuckle on the desk is still wearing off) -
i sometimes play as a female, amazing how often guys don't shoot on sight when I'm sure they would had they been confronted with a dude. I usually kill them for being saps.
-
I just love the way you say 'zoombies' =) edit - like the idea about removing kill stats, for me keep one stat - how long you survived.

rewarding 'goodness' amounts to punishing bandits -

What is this bizarre obsession with incentivising being 'good' all about? Where has it come from? Don't get me wrong, this game needs nice, friendly helpful souls who get us out of the shit and generally restore our faith in human nature, it also needs arseholes and kill on sighters who help to generate the atmosphere of constant tension and fear that keeps us coming back for more, but genuinely decent folks don't need a special outfit to feel good about themselves or to show the world how damned nice they are, being nice is it's own reward. If, as I suspect, this obsession with incentivising goodness is actually about not wanting to get shot all the time then try working on your game. Every time I've died in DayZ (glitches/hackers aside) it's been entirely my fault. Whether it's noobishness, over confidence, carelessness, crappy shooting, not looking around, trusting the wrong person, running in the open, general stupidity or just plain bad gameplay - whatever the reasons, I alone am to blame. I don't think to myself ''This game is fucked, i'm getting killed all the time, how can we fix this? I know, lets punish killers and reward kindness, make it so the killers become kinder so they'll kill me less''. I work at improving my game.
