Why not have the mic 'open' in game direct chat permanently with no option to mute it? Permanent in game comms would mean teamspeak or not players close to you in game would hear your chat which would be far more realistic and really force players to think before they speak, this 4 - 6 guys spread all over the map talking away in 'game silence' just feels wrong. One potential issue would be background noise, but then the only people to suffer from the effects of that would be the ones responsible for it and any nearby team mates, so i reckon this would police itself. I can see situations where a squad is flanking round a sniper say, in total silence and someones mom shouts random shit which is heard in game. That would suck, so you'd better just try to control your rl environment better. edit - Walkie talkies are a great idea to enable chat over distance, trouble is people will just use 3rd party comms no matter what so what's the point?

lol, agreed. basic holes in the ground shored up with planks of wood, enough space for a couple of players and some gear and a piece of board over the top covered with turf. Maybe, maybe have narrow tunnels, but they should take a whole lot of man hours, materials and effort.

he could have been bullshitting of course but as i recall he used to get a lot of ghillie/woodland kills. I would have thought that stuff would be server specific too, I'm going back to 1.5.2 or earlier though so it might be something that was possible then but has been addressed since. Back to topic - it should get much, much harder to spot a player in brush the further away you get.

i'm not 100% on this but when I first started playing dayz i ran with a guy that told me he could tweak his settings (shadows/detail?) so most brush and trees disappeared and he could clearly see any players hiding in the woods over 100m away. I also remember him saying that ghillies show up like ''turds on snow.'' Like I say I'm not 100% on the details as it was a long time ago and I soon decided not to continue playing with him (he turned out to be a cheating fuck), could this be related to what you guys are on about? if so that would definitely be something that needs to be addressed.

there is no doubt that sacriel has some of the qualities you'd attribute to a leader, but not all of them. He dominates his squad well enough, sometimes though you have to wonder why they take his selfishness lying down, I suspect they have decided to trade self respect for internet fame. I suppose that shows a leadership of sorts. His silence here though is deafening, where is that leadership now? This is the official forum for the game that he is making money from, 2000 views and rising, subscribers and non subscribers alike, yet he deems himself above joining the debate leaving poor oshi to defend his buddies crumbling reputation alone. I take back my previous comment Oshi, you are not a mook dude, you've just spent too much time with one and it's rubbing off. Would be interesting to know how much of the cash made from his channel goes to his team mates, and how long before they realise they may be better off without him and his dummy spitting, limelight hogging, self adoring ways.

judging from the vids i've watched it lust seems they get together for a self congratulatory back patting and ego massaging session. There is no real sense of fun or enjoyment, the level of gameplay is patchy and in oshi7's video featuring mitch connors for example, just watch the dude in the top right hand corner of the screen, he's a mook.
