consoles are aimed at the mass market and cost is key, cutting edge components come at a premium and the fixed nature of console architecture means pc's will always be more advanced and better performing, it's all good though, consoles take most of the COD kiddy types away form the PC universe (unfortunately not all) but most is better than none. I think as well as having deep pockets you should have to undergo an IQ/personality test to buy a gaming rig to weed out the financially blessed half wits too but that's just me. Always seeking gaming nirvana.

i met a brand spanking new player, it was literally his first ever game and he knew next to nothing about dayz other than what a friend had told him. He'd just spawned near elektro when I bumped into him and we got chatting. I started off really liking him and was doing my best to help him out without spoiling his experience, you know, took him round looting and showed him how to lose zeds etc but the more time i spent with him the more i realised he was actually a bit of a twat, my initial desire to assist him soon turned to a desire to troll him. I asked him if he wanted a helicopter, he said yes, he would definitely like a helicopter, come with me I told him. I took him to my camp up in the very top north east corner of the map, gave him a compass, food and drink for a long hike and a bicycle. told him to ride North west for 3 hours where he'll eventually spot a tall tower, you won't miss it I told him, it's 300 metres high and as the 'off map' terrain is so flat you can see it from 25 km away so even if you veer a bit off line you'll find it, behind that tower you will find a fully fuelled fully repaired helicopter, my gift to you. I watched him through my binoculars for about half an hour as he headed off towards nowhere, unfortunately I had to jump servers to meet with some squad mates so that was that. Well, i'd forgotten all about it until two days later when i noticed a skype message from him, he'd sent it about 5 hours after I'd left him - i'll cut and paste it here.... (my in-game name at the time was guetapens) Hey Guetapens Its me, ZombieKilla, we met in dayz earlier, the one you helped. I did exactly what you said but that tower was not there or the helicopter :( I rode about until it got too dark but i must have been completely off course or something. Anyway thanks for your help, how do i get back to the towns???

1 - Add some kind of in game player recognition system - http://dayzmod.com/f...hey-i-know-you/ 2 - Reduce amount of military grade gear (guns, ghillie suits, heli etc) and completely remove NVG's/Thermal scopes. 3 - Make wilderness survival more challenging and rewarding by improving hunting, adding foraging/fishing/snaring.

why care how many you've killed? this game is not a kill contest the only stat that matters is how long you manage to survive

A very good idea, to echo other peoples additions the name tag should only appear when you can see the players 'face' clearly from a suitable distance, that distance should be say 30 metres or closer and appropriately further if scope or binoculars are used. This would reduce exploiting and also make it more realistic, you would have to manouever yourself to get a look at his face to ID him, this would add a new element to gameplay and make the whole player recognition system believable. Also be sweet if you could colour code the name tag, eg green for friendly, red for enemy and yellow for unknown etc

with the addition of infectious diseases this activity would become even more risky, even though cooking the flesh should make it safe to eat the act of butchering the carcass could expose the player to any infections present

i've been playing dayz on a laptop for about 6 months, i bought a pretty good one ( http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/vortexIII-Elite/) but it struggles with dayz even at low settings. Desk tops are the way to go dude

i agree with OP, thermals are just stupidly over powered and the game would be better if they were excluded.

Agreed! all that ocean, what a waste of space. Scatter a few islands, sort out some decent water craft and Chernarus map is transformed and a whole new facet of gameplay introduced. Have a few with settlements and buildings and a few just trees and rocks providing new places to put camps, make good boats rare and even have some rowing boats/canoes for stealth.
