Great little video seies in 5 short parts following a DayZ virgin through his first experience of Dayz, the fear and panic and confusion we all had. Episode 3 has a special guest appearance too. this will take even the most cynical bandits back to a more innocent time

Just an idea... could you tie all in game sounds to an easily recognisable icon, examples :- a footprint for footsteps, 2 for running, 3 for sprinting a zeds head for zombie, plus a number to show multiple zeds a flash for a gunshot, or even a sillhouette of the actual gun fired to help with identification etc etc You could colour code to express distance, and a kind of radar icon to indicate direction. Of course with multiple sounds there would perhaps be difficulties but even with good hearing many sounds at once can cause confusion. As I say, just an idea I'm sure it would be pretty simple to implement and easy to understand and use, it would even be useful for able eared players who, for whatever reason want to mute the volume.

As stated above half are old ideas already earmarked for inclusion, the rest is pure nonsense, the only part of this thread \i agree with is your reference to your strange brain, I think if there ever was a zombie apocalypse the zeds would spit your brains out.

never played on a private hive, apart from the fact that all your gear is non transeferable between other servers how does it differ? If someone could fill me in I'd be very grateful, is there less hacking for example. I worry about the possibility of admin abuse too which happens on non hive servers but would, i imagine, be a bit more detrimental on a private hive, correct ne if i'm wrong.

I was out with my bodyguard the other night, in the middle of nowhere we were returning from a medical mission where I'd just saved someone who was starving to death by giving them my last piece of cooked meat. I hadn't realised it was my last piece of meat until just before we saved the patient, my bodyguard declared he had 'lot's of food' so I dropped the precious meat and another life saved we were on our way. A short while later when I noticed my hunger indicator flashing red I asked my partner to lend me some food and he declared that he did in fact have none, 'I was sure I had 2 beans in my backpack' etc and was close to red himself. We realised with horror that we had a matter of minutes to find some beans or sardines or an animal to kill or I'd be dead and him soon after..... ...as those minutes ticked by, as we frantically and fruitlessly searched the farm buildings and deer stands and scanned the horizon for the blessed silhouette of a cow I remembered looking at my bodyguard as his disconsolate form emerged from another shed, his pathetic voice declaring again 'nothing in here 'cept jerry cans' and despite all the hours of companionship and shared adventures, the times he's saved my life and I his, I knew that if I could have killed and eaten him I would have. Please devs, include this in the standalone, it might just save our lives.

superb idea - beans to you

sad when you think just how much harm the dupers and hackers have done to DayZ. Most players now seem to have a full toolbelt including radio, rangefinders, night vision, ghillie suit, coyote pack, silenced pistol, mountain dew, camo clothing, AS50 (often with hacked TWS sights) and other supposedly rare items. Chernarus now feels less like the setting for a zombie apocalypse and more like a bizarre holiday camp for special forces fantasists.

Have searched for this suggestion and just found a poll for storage trailers. It would be great if you could take boats out of the water by using a trailer attached to a vehicle and stash them inland. Also would be great to have rivers, canals and streams which cut across the country side and were usable by boat.

agreed, there should be a 're-organise ammo' option, to condense half filled clips into full clips. even if it meant manually doing it it is something that we'd all do if we could.

that chopper pilot must be sick of the sight of his left hand

Spawned on the hill overlooking Elektro this morning, it was night and the server was quiet, i was planning on stocking up on food and drink so I scanned the town with my bino to check for activity when I spotted it. A chopper, the first one i've seen in game sat in a field just to the north west. I watched it for about 30 minutes, also scanning the area for possible snipers etc, there was zero zombie activity so I ventured down. No gear on it, my excitement subsides as i expect it to have a problem mechanically or no fuel, in i jump and bingo! it starts =) about 80% fuel in the tank and in my mind 'Ruse of the valkyries' is playing full blast as I tear through the sky living out my nam fantasies, first vehicle I found in game and it's a chopper, happy days.

let's have these in DayZ please Dev team

ultimately dupers, hackers and cheaters in general are only really cheating themselves, the whole point of this game is the struggle to survive and finding stuff is part of that, they are depriving themselves of the rewarding feeling that comes with achieving things in game through hard work and pure luck. Of course i understand why people get angry and frustrated by this behaviour but in my humble opinion the cheaters are losing out, they will soon get bored by this game because they can have it all, right here right now and rarely will they experience the true joy the rest of us are occasionally blessed with.

Imagine the following scenario - You have just managed to evade a horde of Zeds, you are crouching in the corner of a warehouse, revolver trained on the door when you suddenly need to use the toilet. it is overpowering, there is no choice you simply must empty your bowels. You put down your gun and lower your trousers and just when the wave of relief hits you the zombies enter the building. You try to hurry, pulling up your pants, fumbling for your gun but it is too late, they are upon you and you are dead and in the most undignified of circumstances. As sure as we need food and water to survive we need to pass the waste matter, this could cause all kinds of problems for a survivor, we've all needed a piss at some inopportune moment and we all know how difficult it becomes to move comfortably until we relieve ourselves, (trying to put your key in the front door lock anyone?)

Thankyou James, I'm guessing that someone nobbled the chopper to stop me moving it and are already retrieving the engine parts, will give it a go though. EDIT: on second thoughts, i will stake it out and snipe anyone who returns while a buddy gets the parts.
