2 player profiles/characters same cd key
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to PigMonkey's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yep, I agree with everyone else. I think DayZ needs to take the Minecraft approach where we all get one and only one alias. This would prevent ghosting and loot farming. -
I should add that I also think humanity should reset to zero when you die (if it already does, forgive me, I haven't died recently lol), which would counteract this problem. Why should it reset? Because while the player's mentality hasn't changed (a bandit is most likely going to go on being a bandit in a new game), the humanity score is just that...a score. So when you die, your score is reset and you have to work to gain it back. Think of my suggestion as a currency system. In the case of a clan friend killing his buddy intentionally to gain survivor status, that guy will lose all of his humanity to his friend when he starts a new game, so there's no real benefit. And if bandits want to kill bandits, well, that's a form of justice because they're not killing innocent people.

Rewards for survival (Open for suggestions!)
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to -Atlas-'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think the reward is survival itself. If you have enough supplies to live, you're doing exactly what is intended. I do think there should be harsher restrictions for running low on drink and food, like not being able to run as fast, aim properly, or blurred vision. -
I think being able to activate radio towers would be awesome. For instance, you'd have to find parts and fuel to repair a nearby generator, then when you've activated the radio tower, you can broadcast messages via text or voice and if other players happen to have a radio on the same frequency, then can view/listen to your messages.

To Put It Bluntly- DayZ Is Too Easy
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to Zetal's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I get what you're saying. While this game is supposed to be a sandbox, there aren't many mechanisms to expand the gameplay and make it a true sandbox. It's very much combat driven, not so much survival, and about 75% of the players use the game strictly as a way to PvP. There's nothing wrong with PvP as the choice should be as free as air, but I wish the game would focus more on survival tactics and scarcity to make the environment more akin to The Road Warrior. Additionally, I think when zombies are able to run indoors, players will almost be forced to sneak around instead of just bolting from building to building, which will add another level of difficulty to the game. -
It is, but what I'm suggesting is that if you kill a bandit who's been terrorizing the server and has a score of -25,000 or something and you kill him, you now have 25,000 added to your score as a positive value. In other words, you've in sense become a 'hero' for taking down a notorious bandit.

Setup Completed, please wait stuck !!!
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to Carlofatalo's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This thread is in the wrong section, but have you tried logging onto a server that is up to date? In my experience, the game will hangup if I try to log onto an outdated server. -
I think somebody would be stupid not to take the DayZ model and make a Jurassic Park survival game!

To Put It Bluntly- DayZ Is Too Easy
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to Zetal's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hey, I'm all for Rocket making the game as difficult as he pleases, I look forward to it, but I guess my point was the game is enjoyable as it is. -
Player Proximity halts loot respawns
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to T.G.'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think there should be a system where you can't logout of the server if you're in proximity to certain locations (like saving in cities, villages, or interiors of any kind). If you force quit the game for whatever reason, then the game would place your position to the closest 'safe zone'. It wouldn't make loot farming impossible, but it would make it more of a hassle. -
I still think the rare encounter with a player is pretty suspenseful for me. Nothing gets your blood pumping when you've been alone for days and you get that speck of a glimpse of a person half a kilometer away. You never know if you should turn around and run the opposite way, shoot him on sight, or try to make contact. On the subject of zombies, they will be more of a hassle when the animations are tweaked and they can run indoors.

Changing Weather & Wildlife
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to jordanmammo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd like to see the seasons change based on the server's location. You'd only need to have replacement textures or overlay textures for autumn and winter, plus it would mean the whole gameplay dynamic would be flipped upside down for a few months out of the year because players would be able to track one another in snow, fighting the cold temperature would be harder, and visibility would be much better (camo would be ineffective). -
Spectate Mode ~ Anti-Hackers
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to CerebralZombie (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hackers will be much less of a problem in the standalone, so I don't think spectating is necessary. Here's a cool thought, why can't we choose to play as zombies? -
Second that.

To Put It Bluntly- DayZ Is Too Easy
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to Zetal's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
On the point of survival, I think when more interior spaces are opened in the standalone, loot will be scattered more thoroughly. Right now it's easy because there are only a handful of places to find equipment and they're easy to identify. With more areas to explore, I'm hoping that means less chances to find loot, thus more difficult to survive. All in all, DayZ is just a game. I think the mechanics are fine for what they are and if they are identical in the standalone, that's fine with me. I'm not up for spending 5 hours just to get on my feet only to be taken down by an invisible sniper a minute later. The game's design to allows players to pick up easily after re-spawning because death is so rapid and unpredictable. -
I agree fully, and as a side note, I'll never understand how you can pack a helicopter rotor assembly in your bag. But more to the point, I think a secondary weapon should only take up 2 slots and primary weapons shouldn't be packable. I don't see how a shotgun or even DMR can fit in a bag with room to spare.

Right. If a bandit kills a bandit, the accumulation would be positive, so their score would move closer to zero.

I will never adopt the kill on site mentality
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to Justine42's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have a rule of not killing on sight, even though it's backfired a number of times. I always type "friendly?" before making any quick judgements, which almost always is followed by no response. I'll watch the person closely as they slink out of sight or make a gesture to show they're not a threat, but if I feel threatened or they don't give a response, I give them fair warning that if they don't respond I will kill them...and usually I do. I think that's justifiable because this game is about survival and if I'm in the position to take the first shot at a suspicious person, I will, so I don't wind up back on the coast with empty pockets and a zero zombie kill count. And let me add that I will always shoot a bandit without warning! -
How to Stop Pointless Killing
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to SquirrelGott's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Boo. I've never killed another person unless it was self-defense and it's fair to say I've been killed at least 10x more than that. Do I care? No. It's the nature of the beast and it's what keeps this game thrilling because you never know at any moment when your life is about to end. It's Bandits vs. Survivors vs. Zombies and I don't think anyone should be punished for wanting to role play as a murderous thug. That's what makes my role, as a survivor, so suspensful and fun. -
You know you're playing too much DayZ when...
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to Sula's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When you walk outside and immediately get that lumbering feeling that a sniper is about to pick you off. -
Average Life Expectancy lowered when in a vehicle
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to alexthedude's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicles are great for making short hops in the northern, unpopulated sections of Chenarus and storing all of your loot, but I try not to get attached to them. Generally, if I find a vehicle, I use it until it's out of fuel or until I get to where I was going in the first place. Holding on to one is just too cumbersome and makes you stick out too much in my opinion. -
I always play as a survivor and make it a mission to pick off bandits whenever possible. One time, I was just north of Cherno and just as I was coming out of a barn, shots from a nearby hill started hitting the ground at my feet. I was able to dodge the shooting as I weaved my way into a forest where the sniper gave up. I laid there for about 20 minutes waiting for him to make an appearance until about half a kilometer away, I could see a firefight between two guys in ghillie suits and another victim. They took out the poor guy and I assumed they were the guys who were shooting at me, so I patiently crawled my way toward their position where they were looting the body and just hanging out. With my CZ, I aimed at one of the perps...click..pow! He didn't go down, but he was crippled and they both started running around wildly, searching the hills to see where it came from. I was thinking they might retreat away from my position, but fortunately, they started moving closer to me which is when I made my second shot. This one picked him off for good, but because zombles were closing in on my position, the other bandit had no trouble finding me and we had a quick shootout, which ended badly for me. I have to say, these rare and few gripping events are what make this game so much fun!

People in this game are just complete dicks.

So you were trying to make a deal with hackers and we're supposed to feel sympathetic? -
I want Sport bike in game! really fast one!
Marshmallow (DayZ) replied to doom4mr's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It probably doesn't fit in the 1980s Soviet Union, but that'd actually be pretty cool for the stand-alone. I don't see any reason why there shouldn't be a motorcycle!
