How you play - Social experiment questions
Elias (DayZ) replied to Bobcomss's topic in New Player Discussion
> How long you have been playing: 133 ingame days. > How often do you play: +/- 5 times a week. > Why you have chosen that lifestyle: Lone wolf, I like being on my own. > What drives you to play like that: I like to be stealthy and to observe the gameworld without being seen. > A normal session in DayZ for you: Hunt for food, fill my waterbottles, explore the gameworld, have adventures. > Has this game affected aspects of your real life: No, not at all. > What made you choose DayZ: The very large open ended gameworld. The choices that I have to make to survive. > Why you play DayZ: Because it's great to be out in nature, trying to survive. > How you feel the team has done with the game: They have done an excelent job. A lot of love and hard work has been put into this mod. > The impact of Hackers/ scripters: I don't want to play with them, wish they would all just go away :-) > Will you be buying the stand a lone game: Yes, definitely! -
Maybe the mountain dew curse is true
Elias (DayZ) replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Blasphemy indeed. He will burn in the Holy Lootpile for eternity. -
That was a close (blood count)
Elias (DayZ) replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I fell of the stairs in some barn once. I broke my legs, passed out and then infected started to eat me. That's when I thought: "this is it, this is where I die. In some filthy barn in the middle of nowhere..." Then a guy in a bandit outfit appeared, he shot the infected and saved my life. -
Maybe the mountain dew curse is true
Elias (DayZ) replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What is it with you people, blaming the Mountain Dew for your 'bad fortune'? It's allmost like you want us to stay away from Mountain Dew... Why is that? I'll tell you, and it's not because I'm paranoid. Others have told me: "Elias, you're paranoid, that's why you know these things". And they are right, I know things, things that you need to know. But really; just because I'm 'paranoid' it doesn't mean there isn't a conspiracy to hide the truth behind Mountain Dew! Here is the truth: because I live alone in the forest I don't get distracted by human interactions. This gives me like a 'sixth sence' for the enviroment and all the things in it. And I have visions too, but that's beside the point here. Because of my knowledge of the 'world' I found out abouth the 'hidden' stats that define the amount of 'luck' that is allocated to a player when loot is spawning or when he's in a firefight etc. The number of cans of Mountain Dew you carry seem to be directly related to this hidden 'luck' factor. I explaned this many times before in other threads, I don't know why people don't understand this simple gamemechanic. That's why I always carry 19 Mountain Dews in my Alicepack and 9 Mountain Dews in my primary inventory. I strongly advise everybody to do the same; to carry 28 cans of Dew to max out your luckstats. And trust me, you do not need weapons for selfdefence with so many Dews in your inventory. Keep the fate and let the Dews do the work for you! It works for me! :-) -
Clockwise or counterclockwise?

Great story, very well written. Please continue. -
Anyone else plan to play the mod even after the standalone comes out?
Elias (DayZ) replied to rollo23's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Let's just wait and see what happens. Probably the standalone will consume most of my gametime when it comes out. But the DayZ-mod will always keep a 'special' place in my heart, And, like Fraggle, I'm also curious to see what other modders will add to it, how it will grow in the future. So I will definitely keep my eye on it, follow it's future development. -
Keep it in your backpack, it will increase your (hidden) 'luck' stats (rare loot spawning when you're near). It's a well known fact.

Very informative, thanks for posting. -
Why is there no punching in the game?
Elias (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
New spawns find that they do not have a gun, but do have some latex gloves and lubricant in their backpack. More experienced players could then help them and show them what its for... -
Why is there no punching in the game?
Elias (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It would be great to do some 'fisting' with the snipers who murder noobs on the beaches...just rip open their wookie-suits and give it to them...hard and deep. Make 'em beg for more. -
So many choices, but I think the right answer is E. Hope that I'll pass this test, I'll have to rest now...

Why is there no punching in the game?
Elias (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I guess because fisting can cause laceration or perforation, resulting in serious injury and even death. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ I'm sorry, but the title of this thread is just *asking* for it. -
Always check the troubleshooting forum for all your issue's: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/32590-addon-dayz-anim-requires-addon-ca-pmc/ and http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/30185-server-dont-accept-key/ Hope this gets you closer to the solution.

Move along please, nothing to see here :-)

You're not a bad person. But, IMO if you encounter a player and you are *not sure* if you can trust him, IMO you should break contact and leave. If there is no direct need to 'murder' him, you shouldn't do it. I know it's hard to make the right decision 'in the field'; every situation is different and someone who wasn't there can't judge it. So no blame to you, but the fact that you wonder if you *did the right thing* tells me that the next encounter you have, that is similar to this one, will probably not end in murder. You are a good person, good luck to you.

Would you play Dayz without Zombies?
Elias (DayZ) replied to Flavalicious's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ without Zeds, No. Only if they remove PvP too. Lol. Then we can all just sit around the campfire, eat beans and sing songs together. And play with our dogs. -
When I get to a server dayz puts me invalid CD-key
Elias (DayZ) replied to DracXDragonX's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No. Why don't you contact Bohemia? It's their game. Asking for cd-keys is not done, IMO. -
Reddit - Aug 2012 - Q&A with Rocket
Elias (DayZ) replied to Max Planck's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Good job, thanks for taking the time to compile the Q&A list! I'm always very interested to read what rocket has to say and where the project is going. -
Lets Discuss - Way-Points.
Elias (DayZ) replied to U.B.C.S. Ravin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think waypoints should be taken out, it's making it far too easy to navigate. -
Trading "Revolver Gold" for your offers.
Elias (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, just get rid of that hacked revolver, dump it in a lake somewhere. -
you know when you played to much dayz when....
Elias (DayZ) replied to leeds2007's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Come on, too much DayZ? Too much? There is no such thing as 'too much' DayZ! DayZ is ment to be played 24/7; they didn't put the day/night cycle and the 24h days in for nothing. I log of once a week to get more supplies from the store, though. Raw meat, beans, coke and matches. And I take of my wookie suit when I go outside. Don't tell me I play to much. Now, where is my hatchet and matches...I need to cook this meat...all those silly questions got me distracted... -
Dual 7970's, 6-core i7, 32GB RAM... 3FPS?!
Elias (DayZ) replied to jaws4096's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
How is your framerate in Arma2 OA? In Singleplayer there are some benchmark missions you can run, at the end it gives you the average framerate. Don't know if you tried these allready, but it will help you rule out a connection/server issue. Also, I've read somewhere that Arma 2 CO doesn't like Hyper-Threading from the i7 CPUs. I don't know if this is really the case, I don't own a i7. You can try to add "-cpucount=4" in your steam launch options or disable HT in your BIOS. Again, I don't know if it will do anything for you. Also, view distance is a setting that has great impact on performance in ArmA2. I advise to lower it to about 1 or 2 clicks and see if it improves your framerate. I hope you'll get some better framerates soon, good luck! -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
Elias (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Tested 1.7.2.5 today. I did noticed one issue; wildlife despawning right next to me. It happened twice today; once with a pig and once with a cow. I was right next to them (> 1 meter), but before I could kill them they disappeared in thin air.
