Let me know when we have better starting items
Elias (DayZ) replied to zverofaust's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Survive = improvise, adapt and overcome. And stay positive all the way :-) Even adapting everytime to all the gameplay changes in this alpha is some sort of survival, the same rules apply. Give it another go, change your playstyle, see what's good and what's not; and give feedback about your findings. Good luck to you! -
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE AMOUNT OF AMMO?
Elias (DayZ) replied to leo235's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
LESS It would be a interesting experiment, and maybe it even would make people think twice before shooting somebody. I'm not sure how it would workout, and if the gameplay would benefit from it. There are many, many bullets ingame, that's for sure. Maybe less bullets would change the balance in an interesting way. It would make the player even more vulnerable. It would be a nice experiment just to see how it goes. -
no Side chat = Community Growth will be damaged
Elias (DayZ) replied to daish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Again' date=' if it's more immersive to you, then turn it off and let the vast majority who prefer it, use it. [/quote'] I would turn it off, I like it better without. Which is the whole point. Global chat should be in with a way to turn it off if you don't like it. Just taking it out completely is BS. I don't agree. I think it should be turned off for everybody. But there should be other ways of communication. One of them is direct chat. -

I like the no-side-chat feature. It's more immersive this way. -

Autohotkey works great, I'm using it ingame to hit a single key, then autohotkey will open chat, write the message and send it. Keeps me free to focus on the important issues; like staying alive.

That's a good tip, I'll have to try that. I used a grenade once, that was very effective too; but was a bit noisy :-) Thanks.

Probably the most immersive situation i was ever in
Elias (DayZ) replied to Ingway's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That was a great adventure; I've read your whole story. Thanks for sharing! -
best advice i've gotten on this forum..
Elias (DayZ) replied to Finkle's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree. It's just as in real life, having too much stuff and the fear of losing it all will just hold you back. . -
You are lucky, that's a great find!

What you love (positive only)
Elias (DayZ) replied to p3zd1sp3nx0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What I love in this mod: 1) that you can chop wood, build a campfire, hunt animals and cook their meat; 2) living in the woods, trying to survive; 3) never knowing if someone is 'friendly' or not; 4) the atmosphere, the surroundings, it all has a 'apocalyptic' feel to it; 5) the fact that you can carry only one main and one secondary weapon; 6) micromanaging my inventory, making choices about what to take and what not; 7) spawning with allmost nothing, not even a weapon. 8) the fact that we are co-creating this mod, helping with the alphatesting. That's just great! . -

Why is everyone I meet an ***hole?
Elias (DayZ) replied to Deacoon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There are many good people out there. Don't get mixed up in the beanwars, so leave the coast. Fast. Move inland. Head for the forests. You will find friendlies there. In these woods there are people who have been surviving for a long, long time. Make sure you know how to lower your weapon. Get your direct comm. sorted out. But be ready to shoot in self defence. Good luck to you, maybe we'll run into each other someday. -
Be friendly...or not :-) What you want, it's your game..play how you like. I'm always friendly, i'll only shoot in self defence, but that's how I like it. Maybe there are just too much bullets ingame...makes people think less about how to use 'em.

You'll be happy to know that this is somewhat allready the case. Except the part about the 'skin-choosing' of course. There are people playing Day-Z using army tactics and formations. Groups of bandits working together and trying to outsmart/kill other banditgroups etc. Personaly, I like the 'working together' part. But gangwars...I don't know. But please, feel free to start one without me :-)

There is no way to return your items. But it happened to all of us, everybody on this forum has lost some nice stuff. Don't get to much attached to your items (because you will 'lose' them again and/or die). I wish you the best of luck and a lot of fun playing (and collecting new stuff). .

Fun and Rage at the same time
Elias (DayZ) replied to Hayabusa (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the mod is great fun. I just love the fact that everything is still in development and we can help by playtesting and by giving feedback on the forums. -
These models look great! Good job.

That's some creative thinking, I like your idea. +1 .

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
Elias (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES 1) very vulnerable, more fear; 2) you'll have to play smart to stay alive; 3) finding your 1st weapon will be so much joy! . -
20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
Elias (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
NO Then it would be just some sort of a detection 'device'. Now nobody knows (for sure) who is 'bad' and who is 'good'. Much better. More tears.
