I'm sorry to hear that. I have no issue with the Zed, I just sneak into a village and loot everything without problems. I crouchwalk and keep a safe distance (+/- 10 mtrs) from them. I keep situational awareness by looking around a lot, and I try to stick to the structures, you're less visible that way. Hope you'll get lucky soon, wish you the best.

A few months IRL, I started playing a few months ago and I'm still alive. I got lucky a few times, though. Looked death in the eyes. But I guess the Lord of all Avatars is looking out for me.

There! You've found a whole new level of gameplay, good for you! Hopefully your story will be an eyeopener for others, so they will finaly *know* there is much more to this game than just PK'ing everybody. Letting people live takes so much more skills than shooting on sight. +10 for you.

Welcome, great to see you. Day-z is a great mod, I hope that you'll have a lot of fun playing it! Nice that you can team up with your friend, it wil definitly boost your chances for survival. The steamversion works perfectly, never had any problems. (I bought Arma 2 CO on steam.)

Don't go into combat when your chain is red, if you can help it.

Good plan! It's a great mod and there is much exploring to do and adventures to experience. Some advise: know that there are people who will shoot you on sight (I'm not one of them). Please don't be dissapointed when it suddenly happens and then turn to the *dark side*, like many others have done. Keep true to your own morals and standards. I wish you a lot of happy exploring!

Part of your advise is flawed. Trust no one = good Shoot everybody = bad (unless you are a murderer of course: then you should murder everybody) remember: it takes more skill to *not* shoot first... and to live to tell about it. I'm still alive, so I must be doing something right. I'll give you some advise that is even more valuable: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Selling items? You mean, for like real dollars? On Ebay? Maybe try selling beans: everybody wants them beans. But seriously: Ingame you cannot sell items. There is no need and no ingame 'money'. But you can try trading your items; it happens, people do trade.

I agree with OP; if something doesn't work, try a different approach. You'll have to adapt in this game, if you want to survive. Take it slow. Make a plan. Trust no one and live by the golden rules. That's what's kept me alive for months. (1st golden rule = do unto others as you would have them do unto you) (2nd golden rule = don't get attached to your gear, because you will lose it)

37 murders is amazing. Good job! I have 0 murders and I'm still on my very first spawn since the beginning. Haven't died once and I never dc'ed too. It's really funny when you think about it; your ingame goal is to murder me and my goal is not to get murdered by you. I really love this mod and the tense situations we get entangled in.

It's hard, but not impossible to survive for Noobs. I agree; if you don't know 'how' to play, it may seem impossible. - The more you practice, the better you'll get at it. If something doesn't work, try a different approach. - Learn the interface and setup your controls. If you're new to Arma, practice the tutorialmissions first. - The map is big enough to avoid other players; get a basic gear at some quiet village first. - No weapon? Play even 'smarter'; use smoke if you have it, or trow tin cans etc. Without some simple preperation dying may indeed be frequent and demoralizing.

You can do what you want, the only limit is your own imagination. Maybe you can make it your goal to find a NV or GPS, because you don't have them yet. Or you can make it your goal to use your ATV to drive to a far point on the map, and then back to your camp again. And survive. You get the picture, there are many things you can 'play', it's a sandbox game. Make it 'interesting' by setting your own ingame goals.
