I haven't seen this suggested before so I thought I would make a thread. My idea is to add fuse boxes onto accessible buildings. These fuseboxes are originally damaged but with a toolbox (and scrap metal?) these fuse boxes can be repaired returning electricity to the building, if it is night on the server the lights on the building will all turn on. I also think a neat feature would be like an alarm goes off once the fuse box is repaired just because during a zombie apocalypse the building would probably be damaged and that would set off the alarms. I thought of this idea when I was on a hospital roof and thought it would be cool if I could turn on the electricity and use the sliding doors instead of wasting my ammo shooting the windows. Please reply with what you think of this concept of mine :)

Introduction I'm now starting up a DayZ Bandit group, this thread is where all information wil be available so it may become quite a large post. All information on here will be updated as necessary. This is an all new group currently with 2 members other than myself so I'm going to be rather picky with who I let into the group as they'll be defing what the group will likely become. For anybody thinking about joining please read this all as there is important information that is throughout this post that you will need for your application. Below are the entry requirements and rules. Entry Requirements (Items With "*Blah Blah*" Are Only Preferences But NOT REQUIRED) - 16+ Years Old - Experienced Player - Good Microphone - Skype/Dobly Axon - Skype is what we're currently using but we may switch to Dolby Axon because one of our members is having an issue with Skype - Fluent English (So there's no miscommunication) - Know Have To Navigate The Map (At least Somewhat) - Can Take A Joke (Nothing Worse Than Gaming With Mr.No Humour) - *Recording Capabilities* - *YouTube Channel* Rules - Try Not To Be A Twat Groups Current Facilities - This is just things like YouTube Channels, Websites etc. Curently the only asset I have set-up is the TeamSpeak Server on my own computer as this group may not take off. Application Format & Info - For those of you that apply with friends, you can put your friends application in with yours Age: Location: (Country Will Do) Play Time: (How many weeks/months you have been playing DayZ) YouTube: (If You Have One - If you don't you can link a video or something that you are in) Resources: (If you can supply any additional resources to the group eg a better TeamSpeak, a website etc please say so) Info: (Any other information about yourself that you think would help your chances in getting accepted) More Important Stuff Warning this will be an un-organised paragraph of info - brace yourselves! After you have submitted your application I will message you telling you that you have been accepted and will give you all of our Skype's etc. If you aren't accepted I will reply to you telling you what I thought was wrong and will give you a few chances to fix your application if I think it can be improved upon. One thing that I want possible members to keep in mind is that I don't want any hackers or rage quitters, they can seriously ruin the fun of a whole group. I never feel bad about killing a player who probably deserves it, like killing players who are camping stary and other valuable loot spots but when I kill a noob who is running up the middle of the NW Airfield with 20 zombies behind him and still has a patrol pack? That's not even worthy to be put in my murder count. I'm one of these bandits that doesn't camp the coast so I can get in a firefight that is actually intense so if you are new to the game here are some tips for the Airfield & DayZ in general. - Don't run up the middle of the strip with zombies chasing you. - Have something bigger than a patrol pack. - Stay low and quiet. - Make sure you have the firepower with you to take out a few players. This latest trip my group killed, umm.. 4 players with spawning gear except for some minor weaponry, nothing really "valuable". Those few tips will help you out anywhere, also below are the bandit heavy areas you want to avoid until you can handle yourself :P Chernogorsk, Electrozavodsk, Stary Sobor. NW Airfield has a lot of traffic but not much campers, usually they loot and head to there camps. You should also be weary of Zelenogorsk and Balota, they usually have one or 2 bandits but usually easily taken out. (I put the short form of the is bold if you didn't know them)

Its more fun for me when I treat it like real life, if you treat it as a game I don't feel the same rush when I get shot at or see a player.

You just open your pack and move the gun in there to your main inventory, it should swap them around automatically

This is an interview that SideStrafe had with rocket a little over a week ago so some of you have probably seen this. It's an hour long and the majority is Rocket & SideStrafe speculating about possible new features for DayZ or at least what they would wish to implement. As well as some cool speculations they talk about improving servers and supporting more types of play styles instead of deterring play styles eg instead of adding stuff to stop player killing they add more options so you might do something else. Obviously this is pretty much all idealistic and experimental possibilities for the future of DayZ but it is pretty cool to hear Rocket's view on the community and to see how approaches everything from a developer's point of view :) These types of interviews are always pretty neat, post a reply or share the link for people to see this :P -

I've deleted the majority of your post for the sake of space but I will be refering to each paragraph :P You're definitely right about the way players complete content faster than it's created but if they can create content that is randomized providing PvP player an alternative, I saw a post that the radios should spawn and randomly get distress signals and this will trigger a mini-mission with the option to find & help/find and kill or ignore. As well as other types of missions but I won't re-post :) When he was talking about holding back on big announcements I think he may be working on something that could provide an alternative option than PvP possibly. I have no argument against this paragraph really other than it is in the alpha so we may not have seen the results he is aiming for. I completely get what you're saying but he said it himself "If he knew the answer it would be implemented". I think any sandbox game with no designated route(Quest chains) will always head for PvP but its about designing a game that is creating the illusion of a sandbox but has you on a designated path with goals possibly? This is actually a really good point about having more rewarding feelings from the game, right now im pretty tired and I can't think of anything off the top of my head that would prove a strong positive motivator or boost for players but I'm sure somebody on here can. I believe he meant traumatic for both players, at least that's how I took it, after him speaking about how he felt bad about shooting a player and everything, how he plans this I don't know but if he makes death harder without creating something to make players taking a second thought before murdering another player, I'll have to agree with you then. Well its not that not killing players is difficult, its just boring. All you need to simply survive is a hatchet, a hunting knife and matches but this is a video so we always need something to do that is worth our time. I try to kill other fully geared players because that is a challenge since we're on the same level, my most recent murder was a bandit camping Stary, he saw me first, luckily I only had a Winchester and was coming in the direction of the coast so he didn't think I had night vision goggles took cover behind a bush, waited, then flanked him a shot him in the back of the head. Killing him was rather satisfying :D -
Why you shouldn't buy a SERVER

I have to say that there should be passworded servers, obviously so the server hosts can filter out the hackers. If instead of resources being put in to filter out hackers aren't working how about putting in place filters to prevent them? You have to apply to get a server password etc your added to a mailing list every 24hours password is changed and e-mail is sent to everybody that has been accepted. If ANY proof is given that passwords have been leaked by users or he is actually a hacker removed from mailing list until proven innocent? I don't think this would be a good idea globally for DayZ but it could lead to more hackers being banned possibly through filtration. -

I get what you mean, I think these possibly are for the hype, I think he is hinting at what will be in DayZ for ArmA3 mostly but who knows :P Hopefully these bugs will be fixed though, the duping of gear is a tough one though, it plays on server lag and is easily done, i've done it a bunch of time unintentionally. -
LOL If you go up there with no gear you're likely to end up as just another dead body though.

A Final Solution to the Bandit Problem

The chat option should ONLY be available after that person you are speaking to has been within an identifiable range on the bandit (close enough to see it is him 100 meters-ish) and once he loses sight of the bandit he can only know his last KNOWN location. Even if you are butt hurt about banditry you have to keep balance in the game, unless every single bandit is a confirmed hacker this is an unfair advantage for friendlies, also won't work, I'm in a large group of bandits and with the amount of blood bags and morphine etc I've used on my group-mates I'll never get infamous. -
Bears would be awesome just your idea needs some improving upon I believe. They provide 5 meat (Less than a cow), I'm not an expert but I think bears have less meat worth eating on them compared to cows. More health than zombies, bears are quite large and often fight one another, than can take a few nice hits, possibly 8,000 health? I like the idea about the fur coat though and being in forests is a given :P I don't think the bears should be another treat for players I think a bear should be a "Fuck it, RUN!" type deal haha. Thoughts? Someone suggested wolves there as well, I think they should have 4,000 health(Same as zombies) but you encounter 2-5 at any given time and they give 2 meat per wolf (since there is loads of them). Same scenario for wolves, only in forests and such. I think they should spawn if you have a campfire down; - 5% Change that after cooking meat a bear will spawn between 250-700 meters from the fire - 2% Chance that simply lighting a fire will attract a bear - 2.5% Chance that cooking meat will spawn a wolf pack 250-700 meters from the campfire - 3% Chance of lighting the fire the wolf pack will spawn - 0.25% Chance that both will spawn, from either lighting the fire or cooking meat After spawning they start walking towards the fire, wolves will spread out around it but bears just go straight. They walk until a player is spotted but have better vision than zombies? These percentinles stack depending on how many players are within a 250 meter radius of the campfire so big group of players have a greater risk of being attacked. This will hopefully bring balance for lone wolf players by challenging large group of players with ore campfire attacks? I have got a lot of thoughts about this now once I gather them all I may make my own post :P Again, thoughts?
