  1. It'd be a step in the wrong direction IMO
  2. I don't even see why there's an argument? Leave it server side so it can accommodate all player types. I mean, trying to get it disabled across every server is kinda selfish, cause that's then forcing everyone to play your play style rather then giving people the option. Don't like third person? Fine, go to a first person only server, there's loads of them. But please don't force me, or along with many others to play your way, when we don't want to. You say its an advantage, but it's an advantage that everyone has got within that server. Quite frankly, everyone knows that you can't even shoot in third person as well as you can in first person, so in this aspect it kinda balances. Not to mention this game isn't a First person shooter, so you shouldn't be forced to play the game as such

He wants no third person? Can you please link me to where he said that? Not that I don't believe you, just want to know if you're correct. If so, I'm gonna stop playing. I only ever play in third person
  4. I believe the infected need a massive overhaul. I don't find them very scary threats, I find them annoying terminators. I like the new lack of guns and starter items, I believe we shouldn't even get backpacks and flashlights. However, the current zombies just ruin everything. Thats my main problem. Standing a metre and a half away from me and still bitch slapping me is annoying. Especially when you bleed. Never heard of a slap making you bleed before. I know this mod is in alpha but I hope an overhaul comes soon

    Wasted time in the beginning

It can be easily balanced. Make them slower, but increase their numbers, add the ability for them to call other infected to the area and maybe even a grapple system where they hold onto you, trying to bite you and you have to kick them off

    Wasted time in the beginning

I don't mind the new start, it's just the current zombies making everything awful. I hate having to run endless amounts just to lose them. As I suggested, they need to be slower, but made deadlier. Or even just a simple shoulder ram to knock them over would be suffice. Either way, something needs to be done

    DayZ Stories

I've had an interesting past few days. First day I was searching thru a town for supplies (I had no weapons) until I ran into a man with a gun. We exchanged we were both friendlies, and suggested we stick together for the time being. Anyway, during a scavenge in another nearby town, a horde of zombies spotted us, so we ran out of town towards a warehouse. We both climbed a ladder that lead to the roof, however there was no other way down and the infected were occupying the only exit. After about 10 minutes of taking unsuccessful potshots, the man decided he'd climb down and try and lure the zombies away so I could get away. We agreed that we'd meet each other in the forest lining. He climbed down and started to run, but unfortunately a zombie must have hit him and broke his leg as he was now trying to crawl away. I climbed down, and seeing as I didn't have a weapon, I could do nothing but watch him get eaten alive. After the infected finished and started walking off, I crawled over to his body, took his gun (RIP dude) and supplies, then decided to leave. After following the main road for a while I came across another female survivor and we decided to stick together and repair a bus we had found. After almost completion, we were installing the engine when another survivor came running towards us with 6 zombies attached. We all jumped into the bus to seek protection, but the zombies were attacking the bus now. As I was the only one with a gun, I thought I'd take my luck and jump out to kill the infected. Unfortunately as soon as I exited the bus, it exploded and it broke my leg and left me unconscious. When I finally woke up, I found both my now deceased friends being eaten, so I crawled off while they were distracted. I made it into another town in a surrounding valley, and decided to take shelter underneath a truck waiting for a survivor to come, in hopes of them having a morphine injector. After waiting for ages, I saw a survivor running around the valley with 5 zombies attached. I rolled out from the truck and shot two of them dead. Unfortunately the remainder, along with all the surrounding zombies in the valley that heard my shots faced me, and started chasing me. I rolled back under the truck and the zombies were all now trying to get to me. A zombie decided to crawl underneath and looked like he dragged me out, I got eaten and I died. Another story is I was following a dirt road in land when suddenly a guy over mic said 'hello pretty lady'. I got down, rolled under a tree and looked around. I couldn't find him! After waiting, I left the tree and followed down the road more. I asked who it was, but for about 20 minutes, this dude was breathing down his mic all creepy like. After that, it stopped and I never heard from him again. Needless to say, the whole experience was terrifying as I never saw where he was coming from
  8. So we've probably all heard the things from E3 regarding DayZ becoming a standalone game, and some other rumours such as the whole game being on server, and being set in World War II era. What do people think? What would you prefer and what would you want to see? What country would you like it to be set in? Since it's becoming a standalone game, that pretty much means we'll get a new setting which I like!! I personally like the WWII era, I think it's a great time to be set in because you don't risk the over saturation of technology, plus the general style of everything (clothing, guns, buildings, interior design, etc) I find really intriguing. I like this idea over a modern day or futuristic setting, as I believe they leave too much room for error (such as saying "I should be able to combat this with such and such) and its just been done too many times. I also hope that we play as just NORMAL people, meaning that clothing and physical options aren't military looking. I'd like to look like a civillian who can find other civillan and military based clothing (as I'm assuming we'll have different clothing options since arma3 has the ability to change your uniform). I think different clothing types should also have different tempreture advantages. Say you find a trenchcoat with long pants and boots, it's going to keep you warmer then, say, a tank top and shorts would. I'd like to see a more apocolyptic setting. Like ruined, barricaded buildings, random fires, ash clouds, etc. I'd like to see limbless zombies running around, anything that just gives it more of a gruesome, apocolyptic feeling, but still keeping it realistic. With this aspect, I'm not really afraid of it looking terribly realistic, because I much prefer an exaggerated world in chaos, rather then what DayZ currently looks like. More character aesthetics and features. Like, limping when you're injured enough, carrying other players to help someone move faster, etc. Boosting players up ledges is another feature I think would do well in games like this, it adds a new dynamic to exploring, and coop. Infected being able to grapple and slow down people would also be nice. I'd also like to see some form of political system, like player owned towns, etc (see my thread in Player suggestions section). It adds a new dynamic and helps keep the game fresh, and gives you a lot more to do then just shoot people. Plus, if it's playing like a simulator, people trying to rebuild would be occuring in a real life situation. So what are you guys expecting from a DayZ standalone game, and what sort of things would you like to see?
  9. I suggested in another thread that zombies should be slowed down a fair but, but are able to grapple you, and alert other zombies of your presence. Like, they can still punch you and what not, but occasionally they can grab a hold of you and bite you, and the only way to bleed from them is to be bitten. Bleeding from a punch is tarded. Perhaps with the grappling system, they can even crash tackle you to the ground if you're trying to run away and they try to climb ontop of you, giving a chance for zombies (now slower remember) to swarm you. Crawling zombies grab your legs and pull you over, etc I know this is possible within the arma engine, but it'd require some work. I think it's worth it though, it's more realistic, but also makes the system more dangerous, but easier to at least outrun the Zeds.
  10. I had painkillers, flashlight and a bandage. Don't think that constitutes for 'blowing out my knee caps'. And quite frankly, I don't care for realism in that aspect. A 2 ft drop that leads to a broken leg not only looks unrealistic, it just plain looks dumb. If there was a weight system that can cause you to slow down, basically hinder your movement, then maybe your realism point might have a leg to stand on (pun intended) but until they decide to start adding in realistic features that just start ruining a good experience, this horrible flaw needs to be fixed
  11. If third person gets taken out, Imma stop playing
  12. Honestly, I don't have a problem with breaking bones themselves, it's the fact that a small drop in real life will not even make you flinch, but in dayz, from the same height it'll break your leg. Or the fact that a zombie will be hitting your face, and it'll break your leg. It's completely stupid. I can imagine the crawling zombies breaking your leg, but not the ones that attack your face. I think the distance from a fall where you get hurt needs to be increased (2.5-3+ metres), and the chances of a zombie breaking your leg only limited to the crawling ones. I've fallen off that second level in the barns loads of times to escape zombies and always broke my leg. That's an easy jump that would NOT break your leg in real life. A sprained ankle where you hobble is even more of a better alternative. I'd even like if you fell from a certain height (I.e second floor from buildings) you'll stumble, maybe trip over, then scramble up, sometimes with a sprained ankle I've broken more bones in this game then my whole family has, times 10

    Character Customization

Yeah, I was gonna suggest just waiting for arma3 cause you will be able to swap your outfits there.
  14. I personally didn't care much for the sized chat, but I can understand people who want it. I think it should be a server option, but moreso then that, I'd rather it be used for radios. I find radios will add a more realistic dynamic cause you won't be constantly hearing tards talk about crap that detracts from the game, rather I can imagine People using it as an emergency function like 'help, trapped on the hospital roof in Cherno' or 'I broke my leg in elekto, need help'. In saying that, I think chat needs to be increased, cause it currently stands at 20, yeah? Maybe 20 m's for normal chat, and 40 metres when using shout or even caps, that could even attract zombies if you're close enough...
  15. I'd like to be able to hide in ruined buses, vans, etc, have doors be able to break down from infected and barricaded, and climbing thru windows as well
  16. The number one problem I see with infected now that I have no starting gun is that if one of them spots you, it can be an ongoing chase for ages. I know they are suppose to be deadly but it just seems like such a drag when it happens too often, there's just absolutely no way of defending yourself. I'd like to see a ram function added where if you're running and press the shoot/action button, you do a shoulder ram which knocks over the enemy, stunning them for a short time while theyre getting up, giving you a chance to get out of their sights (especially since they run faster then you). This can be balanced by getting tired easy and not being able to do it as much. To me, current zombies are like invincible killing machines that really you should be able to just knock over. Tho dangerous, they shouldn't be any more untouchable then a human. Another thing I'd like to see is zombies slowed down a bit, but given the ability to grapple you, hold on, then alert surrounding infected of your position. Of course you should be able to hit them off (they can start eating you if you're unsuccessful in getting it off you) but by the time you already get them off, a few more zombies are coming at you. Id like to also add that you only bleed if a zombie bites you. Bleeding because of a bitch slap is just frustrating. To me this is a lot more realistic then what is currently implemented. Also, i'd like to see injured animations. Like if you're below 4000 blood, you slow down a bit, limp and hold your side. This might encourage players to help one another, or even just leave a dying person alone
  17. Ehh, wounded animations to me look more realistic. Looks funny when you're running around like a wild person then instantly pass out

    DayZ Supply drop

I thought of random helicopters flying over every now and then dropping supply crates. I'd like to see this. But not alerting all players, only the ones who can see the chopper and bother to follow it

Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)

I think something where you choose what your profession was before the outbreak might be nicer. Like, if there was to be lots of different models, id be up for it. For examples: Medical profession: You start in a hospital or medical bunker with 3 bandages and a blood pack. You wear a medical-type outfit Civilian profession: You start in a city or town with a water bottle and a few baked beans. You wear normal clothes Military background: You start in a military base or airfield with a pistol and chemlights. You wear cargo pants and whatever. Apart from starting points, what your starting items are and what your starting off clothing looks like, classes shouldn't effect anything more then that.

Cool patch notes, cant wait. Any news on the gender reversal issue?
  22. I wouldn't mind seeing London/surrounding rural area as the setting tbh. I really would just like to see at least 1 or 2 big cities (actual cities. Cherno and elektro are just big towns to me)
  23. Thats what I meant :P
