It works by removing the pistol from the inventory, which opens that script to exploitation (carrying 2 pistols). Which would be the reason why we didn't implement such a script yet. We'll try to figure something out, though.

Let me break out my coloured crayons to make it perfectly clear: Atosag, instead of coming here, exercising abusive language, and seriously expecting anyone to help you, you could have described steps you have taken (e.g. where exactly you placed the files, what your shortcut looks like etc.). Coming onto a forum for a mod that is in ALPHA state, counterproductively crying about errors, and verbally abusing users will not get you any friends or help. In fact, problems similar to yours have been discussed here many times and there are several in-detail guides that could have helped you if you had made a serious attempt at solving your problem. TL;DR: This attitude won't get you any help. Thread Closed.

At the moment, we have more important issues to look at than the right sound for the mod.

The chat box is defined by the engine and not really a concern at the moment.

Mountain Dew is ingame, it is rare, and has the following description (for those who haven't found one): "An aluminium can containing fuel for all-night game development. Can be consumed as a regular drink as required." (Which is why I think it's another case of odd Kiwi humour. :D)

Have you played the original ArmA 2 campaign? The US were involved in a war in Chernarus, so chances are there were still US Soldiers around when the outbreak started.

As Griff already pointed out, the vast majority of servers is provided by people who found a liking in the mod and provide their hosting capability for free, so really a great thank you to those guys. For stability: It's an Alpha, we're working on it, we can't guarantee it. Which is why it's an Alpha and not a full release. It's possible if someone provides a server strong enough. One of the things I love about ArmA; the player cap is only limited by the server hardware.

Well, darailing and necromancy are abuse, aren't they? ;)

Zombies are dead people, so the only reason zombies would be in the woods if they were out hunting when they were zombified. So zombies in the woods don't make too much sense.

Pull up a sandbag! Its story time!
gobbo (DayZ) replied to RoaR (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Little situation I came across about a week back: I was in a group of 6, we had 2 guys with NVGs and M4A3s, 1 guy with an M4A3, 1 guy with a DMR, 1 guy with an MP5, and me on the SAW. We were approaching Devil's Castle through the dense forest, a few of us with chemlights, so we wouldn't lose each other. Suddenly we saw flares up at Devil's Castle, so we instantly killed all our lights and split into 2 groups. Me and the marksman went left, the rest of the group went right, along the treeline, and halfway around the castle. Just as we were about to attack, an update was announced to happen "some time within the next 5 minutes", so we stopped and waited for the update to come. Suddenly a shot cracked through the darkness and we thought it was whoever was occupying Devil's Castle, that they spotted us, when one of our guys guiltily admitted it was him. When the update wasn't rolled out 10 minutes after the announcement, we moved in, to find the castle abandoned. We immediately took the tower, bringing the marksman and one of the NVG guys to the top, the other NVG guy and me covering the door, and the other 2 guys finding a window to look out of. The spotter announced that he had seen movement in the woods to the east, so we moved out, with him and the marksman staying on top. We approached the person in the woods and told him to put his weapon down, but he didn't comply. We sent a few shots in his direction, prompting him to flee. We chased him through the woods, but because we were moving slower than him (bounding), he got away. The last thing we ever saw of that guy was a flare being lit, about 1km east of devil's castle, quickly moving away. If you read this story and recognize the situation from the other end: We didn't mean any harm, we were just cautious. ;) -
Version for Mod Compatibility?
gobbo (DayZ) replied to Clevername's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
We have no timeframe in which the port to ArmA 3 will occur as of now. However, the main parts of the mod are proven to be working with ArmA 3, so it might be a matter of a few days to port the whole thing over. But I doubt we'll just abandon our ArmA 2 player base, though, so even after the release for ArmA 3 there should be ArmA 2 servers floating about (Day Z has over 2/3 of ALL ArmA 2 OA/CO players!). And with ArmA 3 releasing September/October, ArmA 2 is still well worth its money. -
The debug monitor can't be moved, the location and width is fixed by the engine.

You do realize the "Report" function has a text field for you to give a reason for the report?

Haha! A DayZ rehab program is required :P Are you mad? NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! :D

To fix the hull, you need Scrap Metal, to fix the fuel leak, you need Fuel Tank Parts, both of which can be found in industrial buildings. - Questions answered, thread closed. - Edit: - Thread reopened on OP request. -

If you can script that, go ahead and sooth dayzdevteam@gmail.com a mail. Currently we have other things to focus on.

Flying bird people or Crows attack humans
gobbo (DayZ) replied to debo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Flying bird people? Really? And for crows: Enough carrion = happy crows, no need for them to attack you (from their POV). Very hard to script correct flight paths for birds anyway; despite ArmA having birds, they behave more like helicopters than actual birds. -
And how exactly is that different from reality?

You guys haven't read the Zombie Survival Guide, have you? ;) In a scenario with an unknown infection, would you risk your life for a few fresh pumpkins? For all you know, they might be infected with whatever causes the zombification...

1. Ambient life: There are animals around Chernarus that you can hunt for food. Remember, the mod is set a while into the infection, so most animals have been killed for food already. 2. Hostile animals: Wolves and bears, the only animals that would attack humans, are widely extinct in Europe (which is where Chernarus is). 3. AI Humans: Bad idea. We discussed that a few times inside the dev team, and that is our conclusion. 4. Money: Was never planned. Oh, and please stop shouting, I've got a headache and reading all caps is an eyesore.

Tents not saving inventory and dissapearing
gobbo (DayZ) replied to Maximilian (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
The tents are not 100% working at this time, so items or even whole tents might get lost during restarts. -
Backpack disappeared after entering a lake
gobbo (DayZ) replied to Aquiller's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yes, sure, but let's put this into perspective: Can of food: ~1kg Can of soda: 0.5kg M4: 2.9kg One magazine of 5.56: 0.2kg So, with an M4, 5 magazines, 2 cans of food, and a can of pepsi (or coke, whichever you prefer), you would already carry ~6.5kg around. In addition to your clothing, and not counting your backpack. I dare you to go to a pool and jump in in full clothing and with a backpack filled with stones. You WILL drop that backpack in order to not drown, trust me.
