I play on a Sony Vaio i7 2.0 and 8gb RAM and ti seems to work fine for me. I'm also thinking of doing the RAMDISK trick but I'm gonna wait for SA and see if the optimization works for my system.

I think I should perhaps go get my Steam acct sorted out. I never got it to work right and then I forgot the password. Since I didn't use Steam to DL Arma II, it wasn't a pressing concern until now :)

I like this idea a lot but it addresses one of my core concerns with the game. There is no benefit to killing zombies. I understand the mechanics of the game but it pulls me out of the experience to clear a barn, walk 100m away to get some food and come back to a whole new group of zombies there. Even that I could live with if there were some reward mechanism in place for killing 1000 or X number of zombies.

Same thing on Fallujah. Very nice.

I saw that DayzDB had released a new loot map for fallujah so I wanted to take a look. I joined the server I normally play on and sure enough everything lines up! Except...The map shows some medical tents at 067925 just SE of the industrial area! I was surprised that I had missed those as they would be really welcome, there being no med supplies between the airfield and Jeghafi up in the NE part of the city. I headed over in the cool night air enjoying my newly found NVG's (found on day 6 of a 8 day character). Head to the firestation, make a right and head south...no tents. Pop over to DB map to check, align landmarks, bend in the road...no tents :( I wondered if this was a fluke due to the server so I decide to try a couple other servers to see if the tents are there. I run off about 100m so I dont enter in the middle of a tent with some looter there and log off. I pulled up the server list and grabbed the first low pop server I could find: DONT GO THERE DONT GO THERE DONT GO THERE!!!!!!!!! 209.222.102.242:2302 Fallujah 1.0 UTC-12 blah blah blah 80 vehicles [sOS] by vilayer. DONT GO THERE DONT GO THERE DONT GO THERE!!!!!!!!! I join and as soon as I connect I fall over dead before the screen even renders! I aborted and spawned in the middle of nowhere with NOTHING, no bandage, not a damn thing, my inventory screen is completely blank. I thought maybe it was a private hive so I joined another server to check, No dice, dead. 8 days, first time ever finding nvg in Dayz EVER on any map, and Im dead for what reason I cant even tell. The question is, can an admin set up a server that automatically kills you as soon as you enter? I sat in the lobby and saw this happen to a few others before I got the You are Dead message. I did notice that player "crayola" had been killed 176 times...That seems a tad suspicious, no? My theory is either the admin is a DOUCHEBAG and set up a whole server just to grief players who are looking for low pop servers to join or crayola is a script kiddie sitting there and insta killing anyone who comes in the server. Anyone else come across something like this? I haven't in several months of playing all the maps. Well, time to go regear, the nvg and the m4 sd will be the hardest to replace.Still, no player kills EVER so far for me:) -Octarine, survivor, medic, tourist with the WORST travel agent ever.

Do antibiotics spawn in this map? I've been to a dozen hospitals on many different servers and have not found a single box.

Had a fun day, ran around, got some sd ammo for killing zombies and met up with CombatDoctor and gave him a woodpile so he could get back to health. I even found a pair of legit NVG!! I think I might actually switch to a M4 SD instead of the std version as I have enough sd ammo now I dont need regular STANAG as a backup.

I have to say I have enjoyed this map greatly. Yeah the spawns can suck if all you want is the airfield but I'm a zombie killer and it's been easy to gear up for me. The hatchet is your friend in the city, it's so dense that firing a weapon brings Walking Dead like hordes upon you. I can pretty much roam at will with the hatchet. Lose line of sight for most and the darker coloured residential buildings with interior stairs are killing zones. Run up the stairs and hatchet them as they shamble up. The construction sites are the first place to start, grab a hatchet and a toolbox and all the sodas you can. Then head into the middle of the city. There's hospitals, grocery stores, and what I imagine was the US embassy with two schools and two mansions surrounded by 2 flat apt blocks on one side, loot heaven. Forget water bottles, use them and drop them- the fountains don't work. You seem to get sick more in this map so find a hospital and stock up on morphine and most important antibiotics. crawling around with a broken leg SUCKS in this map! Also grab wood piles, there's no forest but you can gut animals. The cows have saved my ass twice now. Just lose any aggro then run straight out of the city, you'll find something to bbq pretty quick.

So a zombie can drink from a lake but I'll die of thirst lying completely underwater in the same lake? Riiiight.

Definitely take the junk with you and drop it nearby. Then circle back later (after hitting another stand for instance) to check the respawn. I always approach from the woods crouch walking. That gives the zeds time to spawn and disperse. Ive found m4s, aks of all types and lots of ammo. Now that i use an m4 a3cco with sd ammo (i kill zeds only), I dont need to hit them up as often.

I pulled into the gas station and the attendant was very unpleasant. He just stood there flipping me off and singing one of those new "raP" songs - it just sounded like yelling and growling to me. He was also quite unkempt, I think he was eating the flaming hot Cheetos, his face was all red. I was going to give the station a negative review on Yelp but I can't find a good wifi signal.

Strangely enough, I had no problem getting out, it was geting in this time that had me vaulting and shimmying on place like a Cossack dancer.

I hate barbed wire for the reasons given above. But I can top barbed wire! I hit the south barracks at nwaf and there was a fucking park bench in the foyer next to the showers!! I was able to get in with some difficulty but it was worth it as I found a 5.56 ammo box. If I had been running from zombies Id have been toast.

Hopefully someone from US1627 will read this. I came across a body belonging to ** *** and took some mags off of it. Sorry, had to be done:) Then I found a van in the woods near where your body was. If it was yours, it's still there. I needed to borrow it to run some errands but I filled the tank, added some glass, fueltank parts, and an extra jerry can to the inventory, plus some food and a bloodbag and some other stuff. I blanked out the name in case that wasn't his truck. If you PM me the right name I'll confirm. I put it back mostly where I found it, wasnt too sure it is in the exact right spot. If you go back, it might be a tad further N than you left it. -Cheers!

Well...I guess posting the name of the server was not so smart, had two hackers teleport to me when I was in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for not killing me though, I really appreciate it! I'm gonna have to find another server to go do good deeds on now, even though they seemed benign, I'm not gonna take the chance. Oh, and the van was gone, I did save it so maybe the server ate it or the rightful owners came back and got a nice surprise.

I mean, sure I ran over that group of nuns who were carrying baby giraffes to sick children and then backed over them because I decided to go back to the bar to do more Irish car bombs. ...but now I just bought a new Hummer (with EasyKleen grille!) Why cant I go driving again?!?

Agreed with m4 but if you are going to avoid players, the m4a3cco regular with sd ammo will be silent to zombies even though you hear it. Plus it can use sd and regular STANAG so you have more options. Currently thats my primary qhile I search for sd ammo.

M4A3CCO with STANAG SD ammo. I don't shoot players, only zombies. Since they cant hear it I can clear out tent or barracks or what have you without ringing the dinner bell. I really hope that quirk stays in the standalone.
