  1. Hello survivors, heroes, and bandits.... BBF (Baptized by Fire) is currently looking to add members to its already veteran squad. The majority of us have been playing Day Z since its infancy and have played nearly every mod there has been for the game. We do not require the same experience level, however. We are currently looking to add quality members to our close-knit community of apocalypse survivors. I will explain a bit about what we are and what we do.. you decide if you are interested and follow the directions below. First and foremost... BBF is organized. Organized how? We screen all our recruits and process them over the course of month(s) before approving for full membership... Why? Obviously this is how we get quality over quantity. BBF has no interest in playing with other players that are not quality.. What is quality? People who share our core values. BBF represents Honor, Fairness, and RespectHonor: To win and lose while displaying good sportsmanship. Fairness: To not cheat or knowingly allow others to cheat. Respect: To treat all persons in the online gaming community with respect. 1.1.1 All BBF members are to uphold these values above all other considerations. This is one portion of our clan charter. Everyone is welcome to view the rest here: (http://www.clanbbf.com/forums/home/index.php?site=static&staticID=4) We absolutely, under no circumstances, accept cheating.. exploiting.. "hacking".. in any form. We have had to remove recruits in the past for this very reason and will always uphold this rule... There is no leniency here.. 1 strike only... "Are you bandits, survivors, heroes???" - Answer: We are all the above. We place no rules on our members play styles.. We do, however, expect all our members/recruits to conduct themselves in a way that is befitting of a BBF member. No douchebaggery will be tolerated. If you do not know what constitutes douchebaggery, you are probably not a fit. What is our goal? - To construct a well-oiled machine to survive the apocalypse. This will also eventually transition into the standalone version of Day Z and we view Day Z mod(s) as a good practice point for our group to hone its skills and combat abilities to become a force to be reckoned with. Do you guys have TS? - Yes we have our own TS and this information will be supplied to all recruits upon their application being submitted. What server do you play on? - We currently play on the "Foxy RC" server for the most part, but have hopped around as needed (if certain ones are down). TL;DR- Anyone who is interested in a well-organized group to survive the apocalypse with, apply for membership with us here: http://www.clanbbf.com/forums/home/index.php?site=static&staticID=12 **************************APPLY************************** Sincerely,
  2. We had our first server event yesterday. About a dozen people showed up to participate. A paramilitary organization intent on blockading the central dam rode in on a URAL loaded with high tech weaponry and a prototype device being tested to withstand the effects of the EVR blasts. As expected, a resistance force emerged from all directions and attempted to seize the supplies for themselves. A bloody firefight ensued and the attacking force was pushed back to retreating to the far reaches of Namalsk.
  3. But he's dreaming of taking his morning glory in the woods ;)
  4. DayZNamalsk - EXPERT DIFFICULTY - No 3DP, No CH, No Nothing. Cry About It. IP Address: 108.62.145.138:2332 While it is widely believed that Namalsk is the red headed step child of Day Z community, we have currently dedicated a server to the map and removed all handicap settings from the game in order to ensure a more difficult and challenging experience. No, we have not removed blood suckers... No, we have not removed the blast effect... We have turned off third person. We have turned off cross hairs. We have turned off death messages. We have turned off waypoints. We have turned off name tags. We HAVE NOT added 500+ vehicles to the game. We HAVE NOT added in custom load outs so that you start off with the best gun and don't have to work any. We HAVE NOT added ANY additional handicaps to players. What makes us different than other Namalsk servers? We plan to populate (the few in existence are empty majority of the time), advertise, and market our server to those who are seeking a legitimately challenging Day Z experience and to play the game the way we felt it was meant to be. If you are anything like some of our members, you have grown tired of the everyday running around, looting, and losing zombies through buildings and the occasional player encounter that lasts a whole couple of minutes. You want some challenge and a way to really test your survival skills in the world of Day Z. We feel that with community, comes some amazing experiences. There is great potential. Some other features we plan to implement very soon: Server/Community Events An actual story to follow if you choose A living, breathing atmosphere with constructed world events (both scheduled and random encounter events) An overall experience that is a bar above the vanilla day z experience of old. We welcome any questions regarding the server and/or a visit from you to our server.

Would you quit if servers went expert?

What are we considering expert? As i'm only aware of Recruit, Regular, Veteran, and Mercenary? The server that my clan currently runs is a Mercenary difficulty server with everything turned off... you are right about the low population. We are lucky to have 10 or more players on and we have 40 slots. Its our personal preference to play the game like this as we feel its more of a challenge and gives a more "immersive" feel to it... The harder, the better- for us at least. we've had a number of people come to our server and express that they LOVE the settings and have been looking for a server like ours, but then they usually die a few times and I fail to see them return. We got a few devoted followers on our server, but certainly not even close to half as many as our server had when we turned on 3rd person... Soon as you turn on 3rd person it seems like a horde of people come flocking in (which usually resulted in more instances of cheaters and hackers as well...) So ultimately, I prefer it this way for a variety of reasons... Our server is quiet, but quality people are in it. Haven't had a hacker instance in a long while.. and when it happens, its very seldom and its handled right away... Seems most scripters and hackers prefer 3rd person (and highly populated) server to try their hacks out on... not my little island in the middle of nowhere that has all the hardcore settings on and too hard for them... (most hackers seem to be self absorbed and can't stand not being able to see themselves in the game... its its just too hard for them to fly that hacked in heli without third person, I guess.) TL:DR I would love it if all servers were "expert" (and by expert I mean everything turned off).
  6. This.... This is how I would have envisioned it being like... I'm not entirely sure if its proven that hero skins give any kind of bonus (they say they run faster and deflect minor damage better?) but I didn't see anything for bandits... We were discussing this (a buddy and myself) and thought that bandits after each murder, get calloused by it all... We all see how running long distances winds your character and when you try to aim down your sights right away, its rather shaky... I think fresh spawns (supposedly brand new to the apocalypse by "immersion" standards) should have shakier aim when trying to shoot while veterans of the wasteland get more solid nerves as days progress... nothing totally game breaking (and not some perk you see in COD)... but some minor percentage bonuses to steadying a weapon while aiming down the iron sights or scope... or calming down your breathing after a brisk jog faster than most people by a small percentage... (Think Red Orchestra, if anyone is familiar...) But as the poster im quoting said... murderers/bandits should have psychological problems that flare up randomly depending on their morale compass status... Would be interesting to see survivors have a psychological break down over time based on serious immoral choices... Hallucinations... hearing things.. schizophrenia development... Seeing survivors that are not real ...player may shoot at them or not.. if it was a hallucination, the image vanishes and they realize they just gave away their position and it was nobody... get the blood pumpin'. There should be more pharmaceuticals in the game, too... Nevertheless- I'm gonna say that I agree with OP that skins are lame... but in the end, they really don't determine who shoots who anyway.... I'm hoping that theres more clothing options down the road... loot bandanas in grocery stores or something... wear them if you want... who knows... I agree with outward appearances growing worse the longer someone lives in the wilds and survives... get a bit more ragged looking and haggard... Not freshly pressed and white shirts. Blood wouldn't be much of an accurate indicator at all times, however... as if I'm dressing the wound of a fallen comrade, I'm likely to get blood all over myself... as well as getting up close and personal when killing zombies... or my own blood on myself... never know. I'm ranting now so i'm gonna shut up.... TL:DR If you want to take your towel off, jump off a building and respawn- this new skin system seems to reset your skin on death OR when you put on camo/gillie suits and take them off again... Not sure if thats intended or not, but its one way to get give your diaper back to the diaper lady.

    Bandit/Hero Skin Stuck?

Alright guys... update: I went and got a camo clothing.. put it on and took it off... It took the towel off and I was a regular survivor again... I then decided to go ahead and jump off the international hotel in cherno after our heli dropped me off... I spawned fresh and still had no towel on my head so I figured I was on the right track... we went to a hospital and gathered up some medical supplies and did a grind of getting hit by zombies and applying bloodbags just to see if the "20 blood bags from neutral humanity gets you the hero skin" and sure enough, right around 20 (about 17 and some morphine and painkiller administrations) my screen ticked the ocean and I was given a hero skin... So i guess the trick is, either put camo clothing on and off and/or kill yourself and spawn fresh ... One of those set me back to where I should have been (neutral) after our adventures as a medic.

Lol, I will let you know if the towel lets you fly or not.

    Bandit/Hero Skin Stuck?

Yeah I may do that after I've exhausted any other ideas... gonna try the gillie/camo clothing and see if i can get it to trigger something.. if not I will have someone put me down or do it myself... hurl myself off the international hotel.

    Bandit/Hero Skin Stuck?

Thanks for the info. I got the bandit skin right after i shot that guy and the only previous instances I had was shooting a guy who shot at our heli. Its possible that guy had a lot of humanity, but he did not have a hero skin on himself so I'm not so sure. He was a regular survivor like myself. I've had this towel on my head for a couple days now and I've been playing a medic role for my group ever since in hopes that I could get the thing off my face but i've had no luck... either im incredibly sunk in the bandit hole or im bugged. Was curious if anyone else had a similar experience or a suggestion to possibly reset myself if im bugged (maybe putting on gillies/camo and taking back off, etc).... which I have not tried yet.

    Bandit/Hero Skin Stuck?

As someone who is attempting to go about the game in a way that is "playing nice" it would be nice to not have a towel on my head is all... not trying to cheat any system by having a hero skin to trick people. I feel I'm jipped if there is no way to get this towel off my head is all.

    Bandit/Hero Skin Stuck?

Yep im trying to cheat my way out of the same skin i was cheated into I guess... thanks for the help guys. Was just asking if its an issue or not or if this is intended. If so, cool- just wanna know whats a bug and whats not.

    Bandit/Hero Skin Stuck?

Nah... situation was... I was a new spawn... guy ran up to me and aimed his M4A1 at my face... i asked if he was friendly.. no answer... I saluted him.. no answer... he kept moving the barrel in circles around my face like he was outlining it... So i looked in his backpack and saw a DMR with 2 mags.. took it out and shot him down... I felt it was justified. Was hoping to redeem it and get a hero skin but it seems im stuck with this bandit skin.
