Am I a Hero now, or just another grubby Bandit?

What's TRULY fucked up about this video is what an exploit third person cameras are. That sniper got magically, supernaturally see the entire area perfectly all while being proned out. All he should be able to see is the bottom half of the wall in front of his face. So lame. Magical eye-in-the-sky third person snipers.
  2. Private servers, which are all I play on these days, are beginning to be just as ravaged by hackers. It can be hard to narrow down just who is scripting so the admins even if present can't just start banning away. But yeah, private servers are great fun. The Memphis server starts you with a crossbow and 3 bolts which is a nice change and makes for hilarious PVP on the odd occasion. Having side chat open makes the Dayz community come alive for better or for worse and it makes it easier for people to help or prey upon each other. I've found a lower ratio of bandits and PVPers in general on private servers however which is a nice change.

    Approaching a survivor.

Tons of good survivors on private servers who just want to run n gun with you for a few hours. Like 75/25 ratio between friendlies and bandits.

DayZ Server Gets Nuked : Kills Every Player

This has happened about 8 times in 25 hours play time. Once in a private hive, the rest on the main hive. Incredibly weak thing for someone to do for no real reason... People invest real time out of their real lives in their characters.

Any tips for new p;ayer getting into PvP

Be a nice, considerate type and head north to the Stary Sobor, NW Airifled region. That's PVP country - basically anyone that far north is mostly likely competent, well armed, and ready and willing (possibly spoiling) for any kind of PVP action you might want to engage in. People on the coast are often new to the game or humanitarian types attempting to help them, and are just trying to peacably gear and group up. Bandits and headhunters harass them in Cherno, Electro, Balota airfield and other coast regions, but I think those bandits/PVPers should be heading north for that kind of gameplay. Remember that being into PVP shouldn't necessarily make you a bandit or a prick - you could spend your time hunting down the bandits and undesirables on the server, and hell, they probably have better equipment anyway.

US 1337 banned for no reason

Yeah I think I may have been PERMABANNED just because he wanted to let in one of his friends. The server was at or nearly at capacity. Total asshole move for sure. I've NEVER attempted to hack any online game in my life, so that server should be ashamed for the way they act. I generally prefer private hives, and this is the first unethical one I've come across. TY ham
  7. I've never hacked Day Z, and am appalled by how hackers take it upon themselves to thunderdome and wipe out whole servers, ending lives which have hours and hours and IRL time poured into them. I was playing on US 1337 private hive and got "admin banned" for absolutely no reason. I was raiding medical tents in Cherno and just ran into a unarmed and friendly survivor who was tagging along... Then I got banned for no reason. My name was PHILanthropist and the time was roughly 12:30 PST. I would appreciate it if this was lifted because I did absolutely nothing wrong and this server has very fast load times for a private hive. Apparently the hack I DIDN'T have is number 3872661

    Still nice players out there

I'm finding a much higher quotient of friendly players on servers running a private hive - these servers often have side chat enabled, which means the whole server can speak to each other. The sociological implications of being able to publically call someone a POS has a real effect. I'd expect more evolved players on veteran servers too, particularly ones with 3rd person disabled.
  9. I like not spawning with a gun. Apparently players used to just DM on the beach with their makarovs, which is lame. I DO think you should start definitely with a crowbar, or maybe even a hatchet. I also agree that low-level weapons like the DBL-shotgun, Enfield and Makarov should have higher spawn rates. I made the rounds in Cherno today and was endlessly annoyed to go into building after building without finding an actual weapon. Finally the firehouse had a pump action with... No ammo. :D This stuff is part of the fun of Day Z and may of been a freak incident, but again I think low level spawns should be increased.

    Still nice players out there

Yeah shooting on sight can be tempting given what animals many players are... But there are good people out there. Today I ran with a guy named Captain Joyce who did everything imaginable to make it easy on me, to the point of giving me his AK74 with 4 mags while he took a M16 with none on the ground - trusting me completely, and with his only gun. Of course we helped each other and there wasn't the slightest hint of malice. I bloodpacked him, he bloodpacked me, when he got tagged by a zombie and broke his leg, I sprayed them with AK fire while he popped some morphine. It was a big, happy time. Good players, even though they are strangers, are out there. Not every declaration of "friendly" is a spurious one.
