  1. Just happened to me on US 128 as well to everyone, within a minute of me logging in and finding our camp completely emptied. Talked to my buddies and apparently it was raided by a hacker with a bunch of vehicles and NPC soldiers while they were on earlier. Awesome. I checked the GPS coordinates, it appears to be so far south it's outside of the borders, so why did it save my position when I immediately quit? Thought being outside the border (such as the debug wasteland) would cause you to be put back inside the map...

    Boy/Boy. So how many PMs did you get asking for your A/S/L from all the teenagers? :) (See this all the time in online games, when a player says they are female all of a sudden half the people stop playing and start trying to pick up said female. Rather pathetic really.)

    new player.....what just happent

    Could have already been tents there before, there is a bug that occasionally happens on servers where after it reboots where all placed tents are missing. Or, it could have duped your tent if you tried placing it multiple times, I've had that happen before. Tried placing a tent near a tree a few times and finally got it down. After the server rebooted there were additional tents where I had tried placing it. After the next reboot the dupes were gone though.
  6. To the carebears who think DC'ing is a valid tactic, keep it up, in many cases it may earn you a ban from the server, or even having your character reset by the Dev team. I record all of my PVP interactions, and when PVP DCs happen all I need to do is send the video to the appropriate people. I just wish there was a way to filter servers by player names so I could follow them to their new server they changed to in order to finish them off. And of course it can be annoying to get sniped, especially by those who camp the coast shooting unarmed newbs or who do nothing but sit up on a distant hill killing people without any intention of looting. Just don't assume that everyone is doing it for the lulz, in many cases where I'm on sniper duty with friends, you're going to get shot if you pose any threat to my mates, and my mates'll do the dirty work of looting your corpse. I shoot 'em, they loot 'em. It's not our fault you weren't careful and didn't recon the area before rushing in hoping for some mad loot.

    Buddy found a bicycle bell on a dead guy once, he grabbed it and it seemed to disappear from his inventory, but he was still able to run around ringing it. Was pretty funny actually.

    Sniping!

    Honestly, just practice as much as possible. Find a secluded town with some zombies and take potshots at them, it's probably the quickest way, although you won't find zombies more than a few hundred meters away at most, unless there are other people there. So is Justin Bieber and McDonald's. That doesn't make them good. :) You like the game and that's fine of course, I just don't understand those that fall back on the 'Millions can't be wrong' defense because they can, in fact, be wrong. Oh? I beg to differ. Appeal to Popularity Fallacy.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.5

    I hope the graphic glitches involving the barbed wire and the dead bodies fixes everything. I don't usually have the problem somehow, but my buddy it is nearly impossible for him to play anywhere near a military location because the dead military guys cause so many issues. I thought I heard others mention it could be the wrecked humvees too, but those are usually surrounded by dead soldiers too so who knows. So is proper spelling.

    Glad to see another update! Here's hoping that the disconnecting immediately after death removing the player corpse is fixed soon, tired of the pussy bandits that shoot at you and try to disconnect before they die, only to have their dead body disappear when they rage quit.

    Bear traps hurt you when removed

    Had the same thing happen to myself. Placed a bear trap, and didn't like where it dropped, so I removed it without even setting it and when I walked over where it was it still broke my legs.
  15. 1. Make it so it takes a good 30 seconds at least to 'make camp' where it can be cancelled simply by moving or firing your gun (so you're still able to defend yourself if you get attacked in the process.) Being shot at or hit should also stop the timer. 2. However, if you fire your gun or are fired at, maybe make the timer longer, like one minute? And naturally, force quitting would cause your character to stay in the world, once they figure out how to prevent the duplicate character issue. 3. Prevent you from logging back into the same server for maybe 5 minutes, maybe even longer. You're still free to join another server immediately, but this would also help prevent those who 'server-ghost' to re-position behind players. 4. It's also been suggested there should be a login timer of sorts, where you have to pack up your camp/bedroll. You'd be stuck in the 'doing-something' animation for 10-15 seconds once you load into the world. Would also help alleviate server hopping on top of other unsuspecting people.

    Freaking Failure.

    It seems to depend, I've had it break after a couple shots, and I've also had it take 10+ shots. I try to use the hatchet now, it's silent and it seems to break it in a single hit most of the time.

    Darwin List: Banned Users

    Guess the moral of the story is, don't use cheats or scripts. BattleEye bans you from any server using BattleEye, so since you got banned by BattleEye on an enabled server, now you can't play on any other server that has it enabled.
  18. Sometimes it can make the body disappear. I've seen a few people ragequit after getting killed though and their body stayed and I kept the murder. I once killed a guy at Stary who was apparently on a crappy connection, he was warping and rubberbanding around a good bit before he stood still in a tent and I hosed him down from up on the hill with my m249. He fell to the ground, I got the murder, then see him disconnect and reconnect, and he is put back in near his body with all his gear still, and he rubberbands away before I can kill him again. I checked his corpse which was still down there and took a few things. But then when I log on the next day the murder was missing.

    Not 1.7.2.1 related, but installed the latest beta patch, and doesn't seem like it's backwards compatible because I'm unable to join any server still running older beta patches?

    It wasn't removed on purpose, it was a side-effect of the new anti-hacking measures in the latest patch.

    Who the f is Vipeax? Someone who's too lazy to update a changelog accurately apparently. Like that would be of any use to anyone?!?! I think rocket just likes slipping in ninja changes to see people rage.
  23. I know it was no coincidence. The reason I even remembered the loot so well was because that was the third time I had checked the tents that night. The various lower-tier military weapons, ammo, chemlights, backpack, and other supplies were all in the exact same tents, in the exact same position each time. There wasn’t much in the way of garbage loot, so anyone that did happen to come by likely didn’t find anything worth taking. I even ran over to Noby Sobor to check out a few buildings, and the house & stable buildings on the west side of town all had the same supplies & junk loot as the night before. The server wasn’t rebooted in this time. I’m sorry if I didn’t bother taking screenshots and a detailed inventory of everything before I logged out. This was also several weeks ago before I even knew you could empty loot piles to force new items to spawn. I was still under the impression at the time that the loot would cycle on its own after a time even with nobody taking stuff. I even posted about it in the one update thread.
  24. The problem is, it doesn't. If its intended to work that way, it's something that needs fixed. I can confirm that loot will never respawn if it's not cleaned out. I once checked through the tents in Stary Sobor before logging out for the night. When I logged into the same server the very next day 12 hours later, I checked them again. They all had the exact same loot! I'm fairly certain that at one point loot was supposed to cycle on it's own, but it hasn't worked that way for quite some time. I see this problem when I check out places like Cherno, every single loot pile has nothing but garbage, because the piles that DID have anything in them has been picked over, until there is nothing left but empty cans. Most people don't bother cleaning up the garbage, but I do, even when I don't intend on coming back through later. Let the next lucky survivor that comes through get a rare item. I would also like to point out how I try to drop all the loot into a single pile for each building, by making sure I look at the same loot pile to access it each time I drop stuff. At least this way if I'm dropping stuff that someone needs later, it's much easier to find being in one pile instead of 15 small piles on top of each other.
  25. I finally figured out what my problem was and got this method working again. The OP might even want to take note of this and add it to the post, because this may be affecting other people as well. Seems that for some reason, every now and again Arma2 will add mods to the Arma2OA.cfg file in the \My Documents\Arma2\ such as DayZ, expansion, the beta patch, etc. This means they will always get loaded, even if you’re not trying to load them in the launch parameters! I had this problem a long while back where Arma2 was always loading up the DayZ mod even though I was trying to play vanilla Arma2CO without DayZ. Removing all –mod launch parameters still would add @DayZ. What you need to do is edit the Arma2OA.cfg file. Near the bottom is the list of mods the game loads by default. The only thing that should be listed there is BAF & PMC. Anything else should be deleted. Having a mod listed in both the .cfg file and listed in the launch parameters causes serious issues such as crashing on launch or other problems with loading.
