  1. I really believe that a certain amount of canned goods should be respawned on each server, each week. In addition to this, make it so that hunting is a real hard thing to do. Once zombie AI is rebuilt, add wild animals that can be hunted but will most probably try to hunt you down in the in-between, so imagine what a simple deer hunt could become, not only you would have to be lucky enough to capture your own meal, as you'd have to cope with other starving players and wild animals (who'd also need to feed themselves)

Rocket at PAX, when is he on?

I find it really unprofessional the way Dean constantly criticizes his group's hard work. Ok, the game may be trash right now, but for gods sake, defend your product, I feel it would have been less painful to hear a WarZ/H1Z1 fanboy talking trash about DayZ the whole time. The game is in alpha, we all know it, the zombies suck, we all know it, but please, the stream was completely pointless, I got nothing worth mentioning from it, in 30 minutes no houses were seen, no zombies, no news about updates, nothing, nothing but a road, trees and three books. It's not only "his" game, it's his team's effort being put into it, maybe he should start considering that, and if he really wants to move on, well I feel it may be a bloody good time to go, one of the main reasons I had bought this game was the fact that I actually felt every word Dean said when he was really devoted to this project, and I simply don't feel any interest from his part right now. Next time prepare the stream instead of giving us 30 minutes filled with a shirtless woman running around the middle of nowhere. It's not flaming, just constructive criticism.
  3. Hello everyone, I don't really believe this is much of a suggestion, because I'm quite certain you know what to do here, but anyway, this goes as a simple suggestion to fixing zombie pathfinding not working properly through walls (and a question aswell, as I'm not that sure if it would work, no experience whatsoever). I'll be using this image I made as a sort of guide on my explanation (yes, I'm using Paint!) What I feel is happening now in DayZ is that once zombies are chasing us, they simply travel the direct distance between them and the source of noise (aka player), ignoring any obstacle in between. This is my suggestion: Make it so whenever an "invalid passage" (meant path, sorry for that one) is between a zed and the source of noise, and this invalid path is in a determined distance of the zed's field of view, the zed will start circling the building (view notes*) in search of a valid path, aka door, same applies to the inside of these buildings, where these invalid paths would prevent them from jumping off of rooftops. Also, other sorts of invalid paths could be added, such as barricaded doors, where zombies would have to hit them in order to turn these paths valid, giving additional time for the players to scavenge buildings. I know this is basic stuff, but I just don't see how this could have not been implemented yet, being this the reason to why I'm asking you if this would be a valid suggestion. Thank you all for your time, be gentle while slaying me :D * Yes, I really meant circling. Instead of just finding the valid path and directly going on it's direction, it would be better if they just roamed around the building until a valid path would come on it's field of view. Zombies aren't supposed to be clever, plus, the act of roaming around before finding an entrance would help bandits locating a possible victim!

    Metro Station

I was just going to write a suggestion about this same thing! While it does not need to be a metro station, it could be an escape route developed by the military some days or weeks after the outbreak, a sort of passage between military bases scattered across Chernarus. These passages could include some bunkers developed by the remaining survivors once everything really went to hell and this was the only place they could live (Metro 2033 style), filled with loot and all sorts of goodies. Obviously all these plusses would have to be countered with the introduction of some sort of more powerful infested creatures and the danger of travelling in a pitch black environment (torches would be an awesome introduction to the game) PS: Also, instead of metro station, why not sewer system (enterable through alleys) ? :)

  13. I really can't wait for the standalone, game's looking pretty awesome to me and that part of the stream where zombies just kept coming from the woods was incredible, lucky they were that many survivors! On a side note, I'd really like to see a status screen being implemented, where it would show the various percentage of protection our armor gives us (considering each type of equipment gives different defensive bonuses against many different types of damage (slash, piercing, etc.)). This is also a really big plus on devs side, the many different customization choices can change the course of a survival battle according to the terrain and period of the day (helm with the flashlight can quickly become a threat to you during nightime as it shows really well the position of your head, since the bean of light comes from the helmet you're wearing), this brings us a whole new level of gameplay, where we must know what to do in order to outcome the other player, other than just start firing like a mad man.
