  6. why does it always have to be really close identification with you pussies? how is that a mechanic at all? we need bandit skins back because the survivor can ID you at the same distance as you, the bandit. Bitchy whining by losers (mostly bandits themselves) got this removed in the first place.
  7. no skin morphing = no dramaturgical dyad = NO STORY = boring & won't bother playing. also, a bandit can kill without confirmation @ whatever distance. A survivor cannot confirm a bandit visually, but only close (heartbeat). How is there ANY skill whatsoever to being a bandit? I used to wear the bandit skin with pride :)
  8. I don't think even RV4 is up to the ambitious requirements of DayZ, the hacking issue won't ever change. It's pretty much unofficially confirmed that The War Z is using the CryTek Milsim engine or @ least a variant... sweet :) look guys, the hackers hack because they can and are impatient/dumb/slow/more-anti-game-than-u/hate any rules. Hopefully they'll go and ruin WarZ when it comes out and leave DayZ alone for the circlejerkers and ghosts. yeah I hate everyone :)

    I also play the avoider/ghost/binoc/nvg playstyle, and always get the drop on players/groups. I used to call people out unseen (observed them for good behaviour) and try to team up, when there was skin morphing. Now I just kill them first, dont even use direct chat anymore :(

    here's the thing, Bandit skin's DID work, probably too well - instead of players embracing their banditry (like myself) - they instead opted to whinge (even though we bandits used to start with CAMO!). There should never have been an option to increase humanity through deeds (humanity farming) only for time waited (pvp aversion) or killing other bandits (infiltration). I've mentioned previously that bandit skins were an essential dyad. I can almost virtually guarantee they will return to this model. It's pretty obvious that the majority of forum dwellers agree with a return to a basic dyad like skin morphing. derp!

  15. in electro fire station ~ 3:00am ANZ 2, all doors shut, no1 anywhere, move to ground level, close gunfire (can see flash) get killed instantly. waited for like 5 mins in death screen, reconnect - I'm in the same place full health minus the MP5 i grabbed before I died. weird... I think the guy just teleported right behind me, there was only 3 player on the server.
  16. the game's a total deathmatch 24/7, removing weapons has helped a little (occasionally I run into friendly, but always unarmed or melee). The game needs an essential diad like char morphing. Was waiting a few hours avoiding players to become a Survivor again a real big deal for all of you? It was pretty simple, you could disconnect, change server and avoid if you REALLY ACTUALLY WANTED your humanity back. bunch of whiny bitches, I bet they'll bring this feature back anyway.

    Removal of 3rd person view exploit

    interesting idea about not being able to switch difficulty between servers. However you forget that server-switching for loot is a design element that increases server slot availabilty. The devs will never remove 3rd person entirely. 3rd person playstyle is a major reason for the popularity of this mod, slowly tempting WoW (&WoWclone) players back to tactical gaming. Good job chaps @ Bohemia :) - I'm sure something will be done about this when the game goes commercial. Then you guys will bitch about "the good 'ol Alpha Dayz..."
  20. Just thought of a new equiptment idea, a field listening/spy/recording kit consisting of 1x Parabolic Mic, 1x Headphones, 1x Mixer/DAC unit. You would have to find all three (v. rare). Effects could be: -reversed rolloff/soundcone in pointed direction of parabolic mic (with a low Q). -decreased HRTF filtering (if any) or louder footfall sounds from other players (especially from behind, with a stereo cue also). Plus a rolloff or filtering/nulling of own footfall sounds. I can't really find much info about sound design within the VBS/Arma engine. You guys use XACT3? other API's? or just code directly to xaudio/openal2? God, I would love to work on that thing, lucky employees of BIS :)
  21. have to say, since .5 the night has been fine, I still use the gamma trick. Don't know why everyone was complaining anyway - because on the old lighting, you could gamma up so much, that you could see like 3km's clearly (that's bad).
  22. does it really f-ing matter? nearly everyone is using ESP hacks anyway (mostly clans). It just means most people (i.e. esp hackers) will head for the nvg spawns... guess where im camping? On the bright side, I just scored 7 DMR mags & 5 nades @ green mountain, Booyah! noone is even bothering visit non-nvg areas. FIX THE G'DAMN ESP HACKERS!! WHO GIVES A TOSS ABOUT DARKNESS!

    you're right mostly, nearly everyone would look like a bandit. I didn't really think of it as a 'balancing' issue, more as a niche option for people who like to direct-chat & solo (they need a signifier). It's just the random encounters and standoffs that I miss... It's also a LOT to do with direct-chat in of itself.

    Having only "bandits" is not ok' date=' because it removes the choice of whether to trust others or not. That pre-determines mine and others' actions. Others' intentions should be somewhat of an intrigue. Having only "bandit"-type behaviour removes that intrigue. That makes possible scenarios of interaction between people more limited. As result, the game gets less interesting than it might have been. [/quote'] i remember when i used to spot a fellow survivor unseen, call them out, see their behaviour & make a decision. what a rush! none of that anymore, just gank on site. ClinClin, I don't think your detractor's understand you, because they didn't really play extensively before 1.5.8 or play Arma much in general... why didn't they just make bandit skins permanent? kill >15 survivors = permanent bandit. Want to be a survivor again? buy another copy of ARMA and play like a human, there's no real excuse for pk'ing >15 survivors (even in self defence, as you can avoid). The whole 'management' around humanity (i.e. lack of permanence) made it complicated. The dyad of survivor/bandit also served as a type of 'auto-narration' and increased immersion 20 fold. I don't even plug the mic in anymore :(

    It would be incredibly funny if all players have been monitored since 1.5.8 and based on their humanity levels atm, a permanent bandit skin change occurs. That would be pretty damn tearful for a lot of players (=fuel for Rocket). Perma skin change would also give incentive for the survivor to play well, like a human being. Maybe then some people would buy a second copy (fresh humanity) and actually ROLEPLAY. I already have my friendly mule character (the 1st one) & my circlejerk-voip-douche-pk'er character. Friendly mule hates giving all his sweet loot to the former :p
