Those pants where pristine, saved my life xD
-
Interesting... just an hour ago I was shot in an hangar, I've spotted the surroundings and wondered where the shots came from. Only my pants... as weird as it sounds, got damaged from the shot... which means the shot most likely came from the ground. Damn... those exploits are really getting on my nerves.

I like that Violin, have my beans.
-
Most likely it will spawn at the crashed heli sites. There are several items which only spawn at certain locations.
-
We need to be able to destroy the buildings which are carrying the loot... that's more effective. I know how this works, I'm Rambo... but the game does not let me, Fuk'em.

OMG people are complaining about this? Really?!
-
That's a brilliant idea... the game should realize when the microphone is activated.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

I'm playing on a server that restarts every hour because the current loot and zombie system (both only respawn on restart) is a placeholder. Especially when it comes to zombies it is really boring to play on servers that only restart a few times a day, as most cities in that case do not have any zed population -

I am against that too, but I do have the opinion that a player who wears camo does not wear that to hide from zeds but instead does it to ambush other players. It is a rather simple gameplay mechanic, throughout the game you can decide if you want to wear civilian or UN clothing which in fact makes you an easier target in most environments or you go for the military look to get an advantage above other players. Of course... not everybody in civilian or UN clothing is friendly, as you say...he might just gear up. That is the risk that somebody may take or not -> KoS. My Experience: Once you leave the coast you will rarely encounter Bandits who are not heavily relying on camouflaged clothing. -

This is a hero (thats me by the way): This is how a bandit looks like, for obvious reasons: -
Normally I don't give a shrug when I die, its part of the game... regardless if I have any good gear or not. That being said, I was quite enraged a single time. I've was pretty well geared up, just logged in and was about go on a trip around the map. I went into a factory building as I needed to sort my inventory, suddenly a zombie glitches through the wall... half of his body was in the ground. He was moving extremely fast and attacked me straight with that "jump attack"... guess what, I instantly fell down unconscious (I did not wear a helmet). End of the story: That zombie basically killed me with a single strike, in a matter of seconds. I had no chance to react xD That was the only time where I felt enraged...

Found two in Hangars... seems like thats the best place to get them, one of them was in pristine condition.

Anybody knows what the Speedloader-Attachment achieves for the magnum? At the moment I'm carrying both guns... I have 3 mags for the FNX and the Flashlight-Attachment + Revolver with attached Speedloader. I'm wondering which of those two guns I should ditch out... as I do not have enough inventory space for both.

What do you think of people calling Kill on Sight players ... "kids"?
YassirX replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Maybe some people think that DayZ-Alpha is a Jogging-Simulator where you just walk around and drink/eat stuff to continue walking.... I mean, there are no zombies (maybe 40 on the whole server, at best)... so what do those guys do the whole time? Do they loot weapons or clothing and why? To walk longer distances? No... to be able to kill other players and to defend yourself from other players. Players don't want that fancy military camo to hide from zombies (zeds don't care)... they want to hide from players and/or ambush them. Best weapon against a zombie is a woodsplitter or firefighter axe, guns are a waste against zeds because in the current state of the game they are not a challenge. Still... people loot every house and search for a mosin... why? To kill other players. There is nothing to do in the alpha aside from pvp... which makes me wonder why people moan about it. -
I'm basically just throwing in my thoughts when it comes to Zeds and Player Progression. There have to be different types of zombies, some examples: Walkers [fast running speed, small damage, low health, attacks in groups] Infected manifestation = several zombies clustered into one body [very big, high health, walking speed, high melee reach, deadly, poisons items, other zombies and players with infection in a 5 meter radius]) Soldier-Zombie [running speed, medium damage, bullet-proof vest which heavily reduces the received damage of pistols and other small caliber weapons] Standard-Zombie [walking speed, low health, has no cheek (hits cause infection)] - Should be 100% of the Zombie Type population in small towns. Zeds should mainly react to noise which makes them very dangerous at night. Everything aside from Walking creates noise, the amount of noise should depend on the speed of movement and the surface. Shooting with a weapon creates noise too and depending on the type and caliber of the weapon this can attract very many zombies, especially when the player shoots a shotgun inside of a city-center. Some Zombies (depending on the type) should still have good vision. Soldier Zombies should be able to track movement at ~200 meters while Infected Manifestations and StandardZeds can only see in a radius of about 50 meters. I'm pretty sure that those values would need some testing and maybe should be lower... There should be a very high amount of zombies all over the map. Like 50 zombies at a military base, 100+ at the NWAF and Cherno should be a zombie fest with like 500++ zombies walking/lurking around... Minimum amount of zombies in the major cities should be 300... Zombies-Idle state should makes rather loud croaking noises which sound different depending on the zombie type. I mean... in the major cities there should be so many zombies that you cannot even go into a building without clearing those zeds in front and of course... inside... of it. Zombies have to be deadly and devastating, forcing most players to work together to be able to survive. Zeds should be scary and they should be a real challenge. There should be no way a fresh spawn can go straight to one of the major cities. In fact the major cities should be endgame locations where only well equipped players which operate in groups and/or are very careful can survive a loot run. All Fresh-Spawns should spawn in Kamenka, Kamyshovo or Niznohye. Small towns like those should have ~20 zombies max. That way players can slowly gear up and move towards the inland... places like balota, cherno, elektro or berezino would mean a fast death for a bambi. Player-Progress (due to area/zombie difficulty) should be like this: "LvL" 1. Small Towns, Cars/Vehicles, Train-Stations, Castles // Main Opponent: Standard Zeds "LvL" 2. Medium Sized Towns, Industrial Areas/Factories, Shipwreck, Crash-Sites (Civil Heli/Plane,) // Main Opponent: Standard Zeds. Walkers "LvL" 3. (endgame) Cities, Military Areas, Airstrips, Abandoned Military Convoys // Main Opponent: Extremely high amount of Standard Zeds + Walkers, Infected Manifestations, Soldier Zeds.

Well, the main problem is that currently zombies and items share the same server-load. Dean said that the team is working on a different method to manage zombie spawning which will be independent on server restarts. They even mentioned that the amount of zombies will be a lot higher in the future... I just hope that they will use those resources at the right places (cities, military bases and such).

There is nothing else in the game that you can do at the moment, due to its alpha state. As soon as there is crafting, base-building and stuff... KoS will be less of a problem. PvP will always be part of the game but there will be ways to play PvE-styled without getting bored.

DayZ is NOT fun for new players, which makes me worried.
YassirX replied to Murakamo's topic in General Discussion
Thread title should be: DayZ is NOT for everyone, which is totally normal. -
I've started with Regular/Veteran Servers but as soon as I realized how abusive the 3rd person view actually is... I switched to Hardcore-Servers. It took some time to get used to first person only, but I have to say that after about 10 hours playing in hardcore I cannot go back to 3rd person, tested it and it feels weird. The whole immersion is a lot bigger in first person view and if you have got good peripheral vision you can discern yourself from the rest.

Awesome. You forgot "The Rambo": As soon as he acquires a Light Machine Gun, the Rambo decides to shot at everything that moves rabbits, zombies and players alike until his ammo runs out and he becomes the #6 mad axeman.

There is a Shooting-Range Mod for Arma2 (http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=14616) which could be used to practice with the weapons available in DayZ-MOD. It seems like Weapon-Physics are not the same anymore which makes me wonder if I have to play Arma3 to practice with the available weapons? Actually I wonder if there is even any method, aside from shooting ingame, to test out the weapon physics... as DayZ SA seems to be somewhere between Arma2 and Arma3. I'm mainly asking because I want to practice with the M4 on certain distances with hit detection...

How to get a long range scope now that tent spawns have been removed??
YassirX replied to africanhungergames's topic in General Discussion
I've just found a Long Range Scope in one of the hangars at the NEAF, which means they are defiantly still in the game. -
Note: This video was not made by myself. I've used the sawn-off IZH-43 and iron sight with this weapon is extremely inaccurate... you will not be able to hit the target. Even if you fire from the hip, which seems to be the only option, the shots have extremely high dispersion... I stood 10 meters away from a target and shot with iron sight aiming straight at the body... and the shot missed. Additionally I have been shot at with a Sawn-Off Shotgun several times at close distance and never received any damage.

Hatchet as an alternative to axes (idea proposal: discuss)

+1 for the Tomahawk, should have a throwing option though.
