    [Suggestion] Night/Day Cycle

    I know this has been posted before but the other threads about this seem to be buried or closed right now and I'm also aware that the devs want the 12/12 hs cycle in. Anyways here it goes: Im seeing lots and lots of players that only play in daytime, as soon as night falls ppl start changing servers. So what I suggest, is a shorter day/night cycle about 6h each, but (and I don't know if this is possible) syncing up every server so that its night in every server at the same time, this way ppl would be forced to play at night, this in my opinion is more realistic than the 12/12 cycle. Right now you are not forced to play at night (or forced to play at daytime, it has its dangers too), you can just change servers and its daytime/night again. I think one of the ideas of the mod is to convey the sense of a real survivor trying to survive in zombie infested world and trying to survive at night is a big part of that. And besides the 12/12 cycle doesn't add up with the amounts of water and food you need to consume every day, my character needs like 10 meals a day and 700 hundred liters of water each day. With the state the cycles are right now you almost never get to see daybreak or sundown or get a feeling of accomplishment for having survived through the night or a sense of despair for being out of food or water at night, you never get to make the switch for the different styles of play required for night and day in one sitting. I'm ready to receive your insults now P.S: This is the greatest game ever THX rocket and all the other devs for this its amazing, I just can't stop playing In 14 years of gaming I have never seen anything quite like this mod Thank you

    [Suggestion] Sleep

    I think it would be really cool if you had to sleep for 5 minutes every couple of hours or every 4 hours. You could be able to wake up any time and check your surroundings and stuff but you wouldn't get the rest required if you don't sleep for the 5 or whatever minutes straight. This would force the players find a safe spot to sleep and also add to the trust dynamics between others survivors as they could kill you steal things from you while you sleep. Lets just say I'm running with another survivor and we need to sleep so we get to a safe spot and sleep. Being able to wake up anytime, my partner wakes up two minutes in and steals all my items or puts a bullet through my head and walks off, he wouldn't get the required sleep cause he didn't sleep the complete 5 minutes required, but he got a bunch of items, or I could wake up while he is looting (because i distrust him and I know he will try it or because he is making loud noises enough for me to hear while i sleep), catch him in the act and all hell would break loose. Also with the new temperature feature sleeping and keeping warm will increase the risk so other players could see your fire if you decide to sleep in the wild. It could be even better coupled with my other suggestion about the night and day cycle I think it would make the game much more realistic. Don't know what other ppl think or if this could be done but I think it would be awesome. I would like to know what others players think!! Edit: Sorry. I just saw another suggestion about rest/sleep, sorry for dupe. I did use the search function before posting and missed that one post about sleep doesn't seem to be any other. anyways my idea differs a bit form the other one so its not a total waste. Again, sorry

    Under the wrong impression (Temp)

    I love the idea of the new temp system, but I agree it still needs work, also I believe Rocket and the rest of the team are more than aware of this and they are working on it, I think they are just testing the temp system right now and that is why it was included in the latest build. I don't intend to be an ass or be repetitive but lets not forget this is an alpha Anyways I agree with the op on how the temp mechanics should work

    I must be the only one that likes the change of skins for bandits. Lets take a look at movies for example, you almost always know from the look of characters who are the killers, sometimes they are good killers sometimes they are bad, but in almost every movie their look gives them away. And I tend to think that if one day I find my self in zombie apocalypse I would know who is likely to kill me and who isn't, but maybe its because I get all my info on zombie apocalypses from the movies. I will try and ask someone who actually experienced one, for example someone who has been to Disney World, or someone who plays a lot of Wow

    The Radio tower should be the only place you can braodcast voice or chat to everyone. Could be cool if ppl went there to annoucne safe zones they set up and other things.

    I tend to agree with most of the op ideas At first when I had no idea of where or how often loot spawned I was real careful where I went and how I moved now that I know that guns and equipment abund in specific places, I'm way less careful, it was much more fun for me in the begging Death should be horrible and it should make you rage and cry for extended periods of time I'm growing extremely tired of games where death just means less score or even worse nothing at all And I agree that for veteran players death in dayz means absolutely nothing

    Yeah the idea of making zeds attracted to bandits seems to have no logic at all and besides bandits are fine they are an important part of the game and without bandits the game wouldn't be half as fun

    Love this It's impossible right know to know who is who right now Yesterday me and my buddy where looting one of the airfields we both went into the control tower he went up the stairs and sees another survivor he thought it was me at first luckily this guys were cool and we left the control tower withou incident, but if something would have happend and I had to go upstairs to hel my buddy i would have no clue of who I was supposed to shoot I might as well ended up shooting my friend as there was no name tags on the server, And name tags ruin the fun as I you can spot ppl far away if you're lucky enough too place the mouse cursor over them. The new skins might alivate this issue a bit but it would still be a problem with large groups

    When I say it's more realistic what I meant was it would make much more sense with the hunger and water needs in the game right now, you are required to eat and drink way more than you would normally do in a day. You would still get to play at night when it's night IRL just not for 12 hours maybe for 6 hours I think that should be enough for everyone and would please everybody

    I agree that something could be done to improve zombies at one point, I'm not quite sure what I would like zombies to be, the slow zombie that requires a headshot doesn't quite seem right, but I agree that the running zombies are not enough of a threat and make the game to arcade like Besides the fact tha they never stop chasing forces players to exploit the bugs in the AI which kind of ruins the game a bit for me Anyways dayZ is still the greatest mod ever and considering its still in alpha stage the potential for this mod is just stupidly high

    I understand your point of view, but for this mod I personally don't think that having to sleep for 5 or 10 minutes every four hours would be too unpractical or ruin the fun of the game. and if it does i believe that the possibilities it brings outweigh the irritations it could cause on some players. And most of all i don't think its stupid, but maybe that's just me Anyways thx for your comment

    In my opinion you are half right and half wrong, I agree with you that the idea of the mod is to make players experience an apocalyptic world including every situation, the situations that they want to be in and those situations they don't want to experience, in this case night. If a player can just leave a server at night and play in another sever in a different timezone thus playing in perpetual daytime, something is wrong and the goal we both believe the mod has is not being achieved. Its not about servers being empty or counting numbers is about those players that prefer night or day not getting the full experience. Night players wont find servers full of ppl at night or find players that are not comfortable playing at night to prey upon, and the same goes for daylight. No one is experiencing the mod as i believe its intended, nobody is suffering at night because they really hate nights and they don't know what to do without the light of day, the only one who suffer at night is the player that wants to hunt other players at night because the lack of prey or the only prey they have are other players who like the night and are doing exactly the same thing they are doing. All those ppl who don't like to play at night and change servers are missing a great part of the mod. Being terrified and not being able to accomplish much at night in my opinion is superb, but even when I enjoy this feeling i don't want to spend 12 hours or my whole session like that. This is why I believe the current day and night cycle is a mistake (its just my opinion im not complaining) I think all players should experience night and day as different as they are in a single session or at least in one extended game session, so everyone will experience the terror of night and the slightly less horrific days when they play. I believe this will prevent most ppl form changing server and playing always at daytime and prevent most servers from bending the rules. If it was up to my (which im perfectly aware its not, again im not complaining) I would go even further and sync every servers day and night cycle so there would be no escape for anyone from day or night.
