[DayZ SA] The Drunken Huntsman | NYC East Coast (EST) 40 Slot Hardcore (1st person only) Server (4.5 hrs day, 1.5 hrs night)
Gekkonidae replied to Gekkonidae's topic in Servers
Yeah sorry dudes. This server is dead. To do what you're asking though, we went through vilayer servers. Basically, you pick a server start time and aim for a target reset time that would accommodate the hours you want for day/night. Just gauge it. -
god damn it i hate it whenever I find a lone girl in dayz
Gekkonidae replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
I find that 90% of the time this is absolutely true. It doesn't always work, but most of the time it does. -
I do like the idea of an abandoned quarry where you could go and mine some of the rock there yourself. DayZ Origins mod had a couple of abandoned quarries you could gather rock from. It was nice, but snipers loved to camp them for people looking to mine. Cannot tell you how many times I was shot at while mining. I agree with the wood mill needing electricity though. I think using an axe to collect a bunch of wood is fine the way it is. I mean there are a shitload of trees everywhere you look on the map.

I nearly just spit coffee all over my monitor while reading this.

^That may be true, but as 'customers', we also agreed to the terms and conditions of what this Alpha actually is. It's not just some annoying pop-up ad that we just need to close every time we fire up the game. It has a pretty clear purpose. What a lot of 'customers' didn't do was understand what those terms and conditions actually mean. The willingness to actually do that is left to the user, and from what I can tell, many have failed miserably in doing so. That's not really their fucking problem, nor their focus (and really shouldn't be at all). The fact that they even released early access is, in my opinion, both generous and smart on their part. With the warning, you have to expect a shitload of bugs and broken things. The fact that some people think that releasing to early access that this was somehow a user's playground for setting any sort of expectations from the development team is laughable and petty at best. It may be true to a degree that these 'expectations' are taken into consideration, but certainly not to the level of some people whining and demanding. None of the negative whining helps, and only serves as more useless shit they need to filter through to get any kind of meaningful feedback. In short, they don't give a fuck and will make the game correctly, not to the will of a million whiney, screaming babies. What many of these people need to learn is one simple fact: You are not fucking entitled, so get over it. Your opinion may matter, but you should know that it is exactly that, an opinion only, and does not dictate what, how or when the team should do anything. That is their job and not yours. I think many people need to change the way they look at their own expectations here. I'm not directing this post to you specifically. I guess i'm just sick and tired of so many complaints and misunderstanding from the user base. Anyway, i'm bummed that they couldn't figure out a fix for the rubberbanding issue, but i'm really happy they've identified the cause and are working to correct it. It is quite a pain in the ass to deal with. I'm hoping they can correct it in fairly short order. Best update out there so far, just that damn rubberbanding!

i agree with the map idea, not a mini map though a find able map of the area. i don't even know where i am or going ever. that will change when using the online map at dayzdb.com and playing enough. You will eventually know where you are and where to go pretty much as soon as you spawn in, believe me. Use landmarks to help you remember.

That scope with the folding stock replacing the wooden one, which appears to make the gun a shitload more accurate, is probably the most ideal setup I've been seeing so far. Good video!

You are fully geared, would you shoot these people?

All this poll tells me is. If you're a sniper, and you're found out, you gonna have a bad time. -
How to set up an autorun key in DayZ
Gekkonidae replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Not sure I understand how an auto-run key would be considered cheating in any way. That doesn't make any sense. If anything, I would consider it a disadvantage to those using it, as it temps users to leave their keyboard while running, making them a running duck, ready to be shot down. -
How to set up an autorun key in DayZ
Gekkonidae replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Yeah thank you! This is very helpful info! Also, to the guy posting about macros.. c'mon man, this is quite far from a macro. This is a single key press configuration. -
They'll come back with more optimizations, i'm sure. Just give it time. They use those to test things when they are up, so i'd imagine they will make performance tweaks and throw them back up again for additional testing. It's a process my friends.

Which bullets are bigger/do more dmg?
Gekkonidae replied to frozenjaws's topic in General Discussion
He didn't specify what you'd be in a firefight with though, so technically he isn't. I would say this is accurate if you got into a nasty firefight with a crazy rabbit. -
"If you go to the beach and get sandy, it was your fault. Maybe he was cheap due to the hack, but take solace in the fact that he probably filled his canteen with your tears. So in essence, a part of you lives on, as long as that canteen exists. Cheerio!" Exactly. until he's pissed out those tears and is thirsty again. hacking (if it were the case) happens. The dev team is aware of it and will do what they need to. In the meantime, just find a lower pop server where the dickless swine won't target you so readily. I've seen 2 hackers now that killed me. It's alpha. restart and make another story for yourself. Try not to let it get you down so much. After all, they are literally still building the game.

I was actually thinking of a way to make torches the other day. I think this could be doable with maybe sticks and rags (torn shirts). But as far of the realistic aspect of it goes, I wouldn't really know. It would be awesome to have something like that though. Lanterns are nice, and I hear the fires are really nice, but I think this option would be pretty cool as well. I think it should be scaled more around the thought of a desperate attempt to see light as an "on the move" solution. I think they shouldn't last a really long time. You're putting yourself at risk, but at least you can make sense of things if only for just a little while. At least long enough to have a chance to point yourself in the right direction sort of thing. I haven't gone out and actually wrapped a ripped up shirt to a stick to see how long the fire lasts, but I would imagine it wouldn't be that long, unless a low burning fuel were involved. Good post. Flares are coming, so that's something!
