    New Helicopter Crash Sites

This is why you should play STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl. Basically in STALKER, after the Prypat disaster everyone panicked and scrambled around, tried to study anomalies and figure out how to solve it but eventually gave up and decided it would be easier to lock the area instead. This is where the game starts, as people have already adapted to the idea that Chernobyl is a locked off area from the rest of the word, what happened in Chernobyl, stayed in Chernobyl. Now something similar could apply to Chernorus, when the outbreak began some countries went to Chernorus to study and try to cure it, but failed and as situation worsened and got out of hand, they run away. The country got isolated in an attempt to prevent spreading of the virus and sometimes an odd country would drop humanitarian help to whoever got left behind.

    Powdered milk + water bottle

Then you would eat fish instead. If that fails, adding calcium tablets or something similar should be possible. Finally having that kind of feature in the game would be pretty cool, but just as meaningless as having different blood types.

    New Helicopter Crash Sites

You need to play it, its absolute classic of my generation. Helicopters, convoys, air planes can be labeled as dynamic. Camps should be static in my opinion. From what I experienced in EPOCH, dynamic military/bandit/medical camps were a bit wibly wably in terms of location, lore and accessibility. What can be done to add more dynamic interaction to these camps are supply drops. Similar to how Rust had their supply drops, a UN forces could fly over their camp location and parachute supply crate in containing various rare loot like guns, MER rations, water etc. My personal opinion that such events should always be announced on the radio, so that radios would actually be sought after for more reasons that communication.

    New Helicopter Crash Sites

Have you played STALKER Shadow of Chernoby? There was a bunch of UN and American weapons in the game because at some point other nations got involved, tried sending scientists and soldiers. Set up bases and brought large quantities of equipment with them, which got looted when these bases got eventually abandoned. If you think about it, that Chernarus is the original country of the outbreak, at some point other nations got involved to try to find a cure or solution to the problem. They brought scientists, soldiers and large quantities of their own equipment which had to be stored some place, some where. EDIT: In my humble opinion I feel like helicopter crash sites should be more of a dynamic event that happen during server life span (server life span = time between restarts). There was a mod for EPOCH simulating a jet crash site where a real jet would fly across a map and crash some place during the game and you had to track the location down. Perhaps adding something similar to DayZ where helicopters start in the sky and then eventually crash down somewhere. If players carry a radio with them they can even hear pilot calling mayday on emergency channel. You see helicopter in the sky, smoking, track it down to crash site, find a lot of zombies attracted by the loud sound, feasting on passengers, kill all zombies, get the loot.

Tired of spawning at the coast

I tried an EPOCH server with inland spawns and it was a bit game breaking. In fact, having a very rare novy sabor spawn on regular servers was game breaking. Coastal spawns is like a DayZ thing, it should stay that way.

Dean Hall on Vehicles and Barricading

Fear of death and lack of content encourage gun fights. If a guy with SKS, enough ammo and few clips for it sees a fresh spawn with an axe, what will SKS guy think? "Oh look, a fresh spawned survivor, maybe we should band together to have better chances surviving in this zombie filled word!" Or perhaps his first thoughts will be "I better make sure he does not kill me and take my stuff". If using guns against other players were as dangerous as letting other players close to you, maybe then we would see less KoS. EDIT: Item rarity can also be a reason to kill other survivors. Imagine this, you made it all the way to North West airfield and you see another player. That player is looting items that can be potentially yours, so if you remove him from the equation, all that loot belongs to you now. The benefit of killing him outweighs the benefits of having him alive by 10 to 1 and so that player dies. Had there been enough loot spawning for everyone to get something useful and had there been actual need to have more players to protect yourself from environment, than perhaps you would try to befriend this player instead of shooting him. What would you consider "serious time and effort"?How would that "serious time and effort" be comparable to how easily you can die by simply encountering a random player/server hoper? I believe that every server should be a self sufficient eco system with restriction only set by the server owner. This is not an MMO where all servers are owned by the company and people are paying subscription fee (ala WoW) or supporting company via micro transactions (ala GW2). Every server is owned by someone, someone is paying for it. If Dean Rocket Hall gets to decide what loot spawns on my server and that for whatever reason my server is not permitted to have a router assembly spawned because "reasons", than the value of my server is that much lesser than that of other servers.Otherwise people will go private hives, or hosting companies will provide their own versions of hives splitting community apart even more. What weapon is used is heavily influenced by accessibility, usability and versatility. For instance you can find ammunition for crossbows in all kinds of places, however a crossbow is rather rare and because of that rarity you do not walk around hoarding bolts. Because by the time you come across a crossbow, you will already have a different gun and couple of mags and good amount of ammunition for it. I can often find a P1 in fire stations and 9mm ammo is quit common, however finding a magazine for P1 is rather difficult. Thus a revolver have better value for me, even though its munition can be difficult to find at times. Sporten 22 is easy enough to find and you often find clips for it too, but you can't attach anything to it making it rather inflexible weapon. In my personal experience with 0.5 there is a higher chance that you will find a shotgun before you come across a Sporten 22. There is a reason to why people prefer one typr of fire arms over the others, for me a 1911, FNX or CR75 would be more sought after because I can put attachments on these guns. I can add a flash light and be equipped for night time as well. Usability and accessibility are important factors why people user some items over others.

Lying down in water to cool off = damage

On unrelated note I once broke my legs by walking towards prison building in Zelenogorsk, that included pants and boots, but I could still walk.

I miss the global text chat channel that was in the MOD

Apologies, I thought you were criticizing suggestion for not being realistic enough. I don't know much about radios either, I simply thought that having a channel designated as something else than tree digits and a dot would be more helpful to players in terms of explaining what this channel is used for. I now checked a bit more around and it looks like most hand held radios (ala similar to walkie talkies we got in dayz) got programmable buttons.

I miss the global text chat channel that was in the MOD

Who put that stick up your bum? A game first and foremost has to be accessible and game rules has to be easily understood by the players. If a player has to visit wiki in order to understand rules about radio use, than the game has failed to effectively communicate its rules to the player. Specifying an emergency channel button for radio might not be entirely realistic, but it provides a clearer explanation to what this channel is for. Furthermore if you really want to beat this dead horse argument of realism, how realistic is it to use walkie talkies for communication across dozens of kilometres? How realistic is it to be able to sprint for multiple kilometres with dozen of kilograms worth of gear and only get "Overheated" instead of completely exhausted? Sometimes realism have to give way for entertainment. On a different note, there is an international emergency channel and nobody will blame a radio manufacturer for creating a switch on their product in order to easily access emergency channel in case of emergency.

    AK74 and AKS74U magazines

There are magazines for these guns in the game? I seriously thought that they removed everything except for Makarov mags! Do you have to play on like persistence off server with restart every hour to find this rarity?

Lying down in water to cool off = damage

Something similar happened to me, as I was obviously overheating I found a pond near green mountain that I could use to cool off. Since it takes about five minutes to drop from OVERHEATING to HOT and then another five minutes to get to normal I left my character barely in the water. Ten minutes later and I find him dead...

Yes I know that it's possible (if walketalkies were working to begin with), you can also specify it in server rules. In future server owners will possibly be able to spawn players with radios to begin with and announce in console rules about radio channel. But I would rather have designated channel so that when you right click on the radio it says TURN ON ENERGENCY and then Turn on 87.8 etc.

The future mod of Dayz SA that will become the new SA

I face palmed so much while reading this thread. While I think insulting others are childish, some of the ideas suggested by people are outright silly. We are talking about a game dudes, dying in dayz is already a harsh experience, no need to push it even further unless you want to make 80% of the community hate the game.

To be honest, I think adding an EMERGENCY global channel to radios and walkie-talkies would really help the immersion. Imagine you are playing on your regular server with your friends on TS, got a radio in your inventory tuned in on EMERGENCY broadcast channel when suddenly you hear a voice "Hello, is anyone out there?". Then of course you have your own private channels spread across various radio waves people can use if they don't have TS, or Skype, or just don't want to use either of those. But the thing is, these channels are still PUBLIC, anyone with a radio and nothing better to do can tune in on your conversation. If my memory servers me right there is only limited amount of available channels on the radio too.
  16. I've played EPOCH on private hive for a long time, it was open to public so anyone could join the server and everyone new to it would be a fresh spawn. There was no server hoping and no ghosting, everything that happened on that server, stayed on that server. This was the best DayZ experience I had, as I could role play as a hero and eventually get a good reputation, and have an awesome base to boot. This whole concept of moving your character from one server to another is very new, I can't recall any game that allows you for this type of freedom. Think about it, when playing Counter-Strike you can switch servers, do you retain your money and gear? The only game that permit a limited version of server hoping that I know of is Guild Wars 2 where you can visit other servers for a day. That was actually pretty useful when they rolled out Tequatl the sunless update. It was a very strong boss that required large amount of people to work together, people on low population servers joined other servers in order to kill him. Now I have some radical ideas in regards to DayZ. Multiple characters When my preferred private hive EPOCH server introduced multiple characters, it was like heaven. DayZ need something similar, as you currently have only one public character avaliable. Let's say you have this fully geared character you like to take out with your clan mates, but you also love running around on your own, so you make an alternative character and play on the same or different server. Then if your main character is dead while you are with your clan mates, you can jump on your alt and continue playing without having to start from scratch. One thing to note, when you join a server where you just been killed with a different character you can't spawn anywhere near your dead body. Server slots Each character can have up to X amount of servers attached to him/her per day, lets say 3 servers. That means the first 3 servers you join will be the servers you are restricted to play on for the next 24 hours. Server slot becomes free after 24 hours has expired and you can join a different server. This way you will limit server hoping and loot farming while still retaining some freedom to play on whatever server you like. Now this is only an idea, no need to bash me over the head if you think it's a stupid ass idea, thank you very much.

    Bring Back Burlap Sack Masks!

You do have a sky mask type.

Where to loot (if there is any point?)

They introduced privet hives not so long ago, meaning if you play on private hive your character is only locked to that server. There is no good answer as to what you should loot, all building have a chance to spawn useful items, some have greater chance than others. In the end, if you want to good stuff you need to visit military locations, there you will be able to find military type of clothing with biggest amount of storage space and biggest backpacks. When it comes to weapons, you have limited choices, Mosin or shotgun, makarov or revolver. Everything else is nearly impossible to find.
  19. Zing Freelancer

    Weapon Attachments?

OP, consider these things removed from the game.

Dean Hall on Vehicles and Barricading

This is so stupid, every server has to be self sufficient, just like in the mod. Server hoping is when you have searched a whole of Cherno industrial for a tier but have found nothing. Your options are to either run to the next town or join a different server and make a new round, repeat until you found a tier. This is not an issue with server hoping, this is an issue with loot spawning. If you don't want to be a victim of server hoppers, play on private hives. Global restriction is the dumbest idea I have ever seen, imagine you are playing WoW and farming for a rare item, but only 5 servers out of 1000 have a chance to drop said item. You don't know if your server has a chance to drop said item, but you still keep on farming like an idiot for dayz to come. Every server has to be self sufficient, if there is 10 helicopters (broken of fixed) then there need to be at least 3x times spare parts on that server. Why? Because a map is fucking huge with thousands of industrial loot spawns. Nuff said if what he talked about gets implemented, am done with this game.

The good and the bad of 50th patch

You mean its too little or too much? Is this issue only on one server or multiple?

    I am overheating

What I discovered works best is to get soaked, then you can cool off by staying still and waiting, after something like 10 minutes you might start freezing. But running around while soaked seems to prevent you from overheating too fast.

A story of triumph and tragedy...

Cool story bro, glad you have friends who still play DayZ.
  25. Yeah, me too. I will immideately turn around and board the NOPE train out of there. But firstly they will have to greatly improve zombie AI, currently you would hardly be able to run away from such large horde. Fighting it with a fire axe while possible is too time consuming and there aren't enough bullets out there to kill em all.
