  1. We generally regard the DayZ Forums as TMW's turf ;)
  2. The Trusted Medics of the Wasteland have earned their place to be pinned in the General Discussion section. They did it once under the leadership of DayZ Hero, Dr. Wasteland, and are doing it again for the Standalone under the leadership of Marijke. They are pinned in the DayZ Mod section, so why not here as well? Standalone has not somehow changed their cause. It does not seem likely. I only say that because it would be much easier to join and use the TMW's TS server to make yourself known as a trusted medic and achieve Honorary Member status within that community. Then again, a white list is a definite advantage when operating separately from the group. Having a pinned thread that acknowledges your SteamID as a trusted medic is a great assurance to others that you are not likely to rob them blind and leave them for dead. I believe that Se7en departed for another gaming group a little while ago. In any case, this is not the thread to address such concerns. We already know a mod will come in here to keep things in check, so why not speak directly with the leaders on their TeamSpeak server instead for answers?
  3. Yes, you can, but don't expect stellar frame rates with everything on very high. The HD 6770 is pretty much a rebranded HD 5770, so the performance of that for DayZ/Arma 2 can be used as a reference if you can't find enough information about your HD 6770 running DayZ. The CPU is sort of weak by today's standards since the cores on the FX-6100 aren't very efficient on their own and that's a downside for gaming. However, I believe the real limiting factor here is the video card. Mainstream performance GPUs like the HD 7790, HD 7850, and GTX 650Ti are very affordable these days between $120 USD and $160USD. Eventually you'll want to upgrade to one of those three cards if you want more performance without breaking the bank. As for actual in-game settings you're going to want to turn all forms of Anti-aliasing off, use the lowest HDR setting available, and maybe even turn off shadows. The weird way that Arma 2 handles CPU/GPU load, you'll want to either turn shadows completely off or put them on High/Very high. Test it out to see which of those options gets you the best FPS. The rest you can leave on High or medium and it should work fine. Remember, always leave video memory on default so it uses as much of your graphic card's VRAM as possible. Another important factor to take into account as well is your resolution that you'll be playing at. I used a HD 5750 that was overclocked to the 5770/6770 speeds at 1680x1050 for a few years and based on my setting recommendations above, it ran fine. Arma 2 averaged 35-40FPS in most places and got mainly ~30FPS from good DayZ servers. However, if you're playing at 1080p or larger, you'll definitely need to drop the settings a bit again. In any case, read one of the many Arma 2/DayZ optimization guides to tweak the game to your configuration and squeeze every last FPS that you can get out of it.
  4. I can assure you that you will receive no help from the Reddit Rescue Force simply by your behaviour towards the TMW. Find some friends who you wouldn't troll to help fix you up.

    10fps?

Yeah, it just looks like you don't have the optimal graphics settings to get the best FPS out of your hardware. Combine that with a bad server and you'll get really low FPS. Your system specs are good enough to play the game normally.

    10fps?

What are your system specifications? CPU/Processor: Motherboard: Memory: GPU/Video Card:
  7. I think the issue here is that the OP needs some friends to play with. It's a shitty situation, I'll admit, but games do change and unfortunately for the solo experience, you'll have to accept that most other people will have at least one or more advantage against you. There's no possible way to restrict the use of TS and other systems for external communication short of locking the player out of the game until everything else on the player's system that has access to the internet is closed. And who would enjoy that? All for an authentic solo experience? At what point does the fun become outweighed by frustration due to the harshness of the game? It's cool that friends can group up within the game to play authentically, but this is DayZ. It takes hours to get back to the state that your friend and you were playing in when one of you died or whatever. Dying happens very frequently and it would be irritating beyond belief to put so much effort in to get only frustration in return. Better to just upgrade to external comms, such as TS, and change your fun to a different type, but at least you'll still be having fun instead of hating the game.
  8. Trees are precious. They allow us to breathe. Protect the trees.
  9. I have personally discussed the matter with Marijke and the Reddit Rescue Force acknowledges that the Trusted Medics of the Wasteland had no involvement in the recent attacks against us. In the unlikely case that there is a rogue medic from the TMW that is involved with the attacks, the blame is placed solely upon that individual and not TMW as a whole.

None taken. If there is a better way to dealing with satchel charges, that is great information to have and we would welcome it. We're always open to improvement. Any information to improve the security of a rescue is always welcome and I wouldn't delude myself into thinking that we have all the answers. I'll mention it to the people at the RRF and see if some of us can get on your Teamspeak in a few days to discuss these issues. Thanks and congratulations on your promotion to TMW leader

Thanks for the replies. If you check out the RRF Design Document available under the resources section, you'll see that we do encourage precautionary measures such as grouping up, and positioning overwatch, having the patient put themselves into a sitting position so that if they do try to pull a fast one, then the medic would see the animation beforehand. However, due to the open-community nature of the service, amateur medics often disregard these guidelines. Mostly due to the amount of time that it takes to set up a proper rescue and that is usually where the problems begin. More experienced medics know to follow these guidelines, but even they will often forgo them in the interest of time. 95% of the rescues completed using the RRF are not video recorded, but I won't pretend that the 95% are performed properly. I can say that a good portion of them are, so it's not that we're not practicing good standards, it's getting others to follow them. There is no way to enforce this upon users as we are an open group. The largest issue right now is that of the 18 ambushes the OP and his pals have carried out against us in the past 6 days, about 13-14 of those ambushes have been conducted using satchel charges. There's no way to defend against satchel charges since they are difficult to see, especially when they can just sit on it and then detonate it as the medics get close.

You don't seem to realize the extent of what his friends and him are doing. Since we had started up in June 2012, there was always the risk of being ambushed and the medics accept that. It happens, we get it. Hell, even the OP here had a pretty clever ambush involving a deer stand and a satchel charge last year and we gave him full credit for that. It was good since nobody had done it before. However, the sheer amount of ambushes that his crew has stage in the span of 4 days this week alone is harassment.
  13. Hello, fellow survivors. This is a friendly reminder that if you are seriously injured in the game, you may request medical help on Reddit by visiting our subreddit, /r/RedditRescueForce. The RRF is run by players for players and for the betterment of relations in the DayZ community. Here are the types of medical services that the RRF provides: Blood transfusion Revival using an epipen Cure sickness using antibiotics Applying morphine to heal broken bones Provide food and water to those losing blood from starvation or dehydration. Provide shock-reducing painkillers. Any items used in the procedures are provided by the medics administering the aid. Although, it wouldn't hurt if you provided your own blood bag for a transfusion or pass some extra medical supplies to someone who has helped you. Key word is extra. Don't give away what you cannot afford to lose (e.g. your last bandage, bloodbag, morphine, etc.) Some guidelines for the use of the RRF: Read the rules stickied at the top of the subreddit before making a post. They are pretty short, so no need to worry about having to read an essay. You must use VOIP to be eligible for rescue or to rescue people. Use our official TeamSpeak server to accomplish this. We do not help players who were engaged in PvP and need meds to be healed. We do not allow unrelated requests (transportation, items, etc.). There are subreddits made specifically for those things. We do not tolerate the discussion or participation in hacking or the duping of items.Doing so will get you banned. Contrary to popular belief, we don't have anything against fair, in-game banditry. Using the RRF to ambush people, however, will land you a permanent IP ban on the TS server and the RRF. We are Rocket approved:

Right, because an entire community of 2,600 people are all "inept medics" with potty mouths. If you can't take the heat, you'd best die quickly on the barbecue.

You seem to have mad vision. You think that anything someone says who opposes your views says is said in anger lol. Saying it won't make it true :P

Circlejerk thread supreme. Keep getting mad hahaha. You're only making yourself look like a fool. This subforum is for legitimate bandits who put effort into their killings instead of trying to make a name by taking the easiest route.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.6.1 Hotfix

The issue is that most people supporting the removal of the cans did not realize that the names of the people were not present in the main inventory list of items, but only in the item description box when you click on it and on the actual texture. The worry was that it would clutter up the inventory and force people to read the name every time, which is actually not the case. All the people see in the main inventory item list is something along the lines of "Muffins (can)". This was not communicated well at all to the people who voiced their concerns and the situation continued to churn into a ridicule-filled storm. I'd say debate, but the radical generalizations that were thrown out (on both sides) based on the website a person used prevents the thread from being elevated to that level of civil discussion. To be honest, I don't think the removal of the items was needed at all. What was needed was an official statement that clarified exactly what it looked like in-game and that the only thing most people would notice was new types of food.

Just let it go, man. What's done is done. Nobody is serving themselves well here by continuing this endless debate.

Well, the decisions have been made, so I guess there's no use in arguing about this anymore.

    1.7.6 Cans and Drinks

You're pretty closed minded and you completely ignored what I said. I said that the names of the contributors should be added to the splash screen. The team that did Invasion 44 did an excellent job of this: It's just the names of the people at the bottom of the splash screen. You only ever see the splash screen once: when loading a server. In-game, the credits are "splashed" as the item names. So, really, the more noticeable of the two is the names you'll constantly encounter while playing the game as a reminder. Careful now. You just demonstrated that you don't understand the meaning of community and generalized the DayZ playerbase in the same sentence. Once again, your utter lack of understanding of how a community project works is shown. The developers make changes that they think are nice and will benefit the community. They release these changes to the community to get feedback and gauge the response. They get a response and make a decision accordingly (either leave it alone or adjust it to suit player feedback). That's exactly what happened here. DayZ relies heavily on its playerbase to shape it because it's a game that needs to be improved continuously, month by month. If two-way interaction is not allowed between the developers and the playerbase, then what is the difference between this game and the traditional private developers that most games are designed by? A large part of DayZ's success is due to the communication between the players and the developers. This is a valid point. To most of us, it doesn't affect us nor do we care what the items are named. However, we cannot be so inconsiderate as to think that it may not affect other players. I've often seen the following point brought up about "immersion breaking": Well, shit. That's a good point. Well, the thing is that those are things that are within the game's world and we learn to look past them and "get used" to them. Despite all that, people do learn to continue to be immersed in the game after all that. I mean, isn't that why a large part of the playerbase likes DayZ? There's just something about opening your inventory to get a drink and seeing that the soda that you clicked on is named "mZLY yZLY." I may not play for immersion, but I don't have to be one of those people to know that would never be used as a drink name, even in Europe and Asia. I like some of the other names since they do give some character, but they should be shortened. For example, Powell's New England Clam Chowder is pretty long. Maybe shorten it to just Powell Clam Chowder so it looks more like an actual brand.

    1.7.6 Cans and Drinks

Oversaturating the game with a ton of new drink types with names of all of those who contribute is not the correct way to recognize the people who spend ridiculously amounts of their personal time to service the community. While weird item names don't bother me, it does break immersion for the people who do truly want to feel like they are in a realistic world that has been hit with a crisis (which is what Rocket set out to create anyways). Hell, I'd love to see maybe 2 or 3 extra drinks with the funky names, but 9 new drinks and 12 new food items with the weird names? It's just too much. The proper way to credit the hard working forum moderators and developers is to add their names to the splash screen that is displayed when starting up the mod.

    1.7.6 Cans and Drinks

This right here, though, is straight misinformation. Once again, the DayZ forum moderators are not the Mod developers. They manage the forums. The Devs do the work. They just decided to add the forum moderators' names to some items in the game without asking them. The mods may not all contribute directly to the mod, but manage a very large community and so the developers wanted to recognize these people in the game. Sure enough, this proved to be a bad design decision, but the devs listened and reverted the item changes. This shows that the community devs are reasonable people and are open to criticisms. As a side note, any time there are concerns like these, they should be posted here on the forums so that the DayZ vs Reddit forums over-generalization bullshit can be avoided entirely. Something else to note as well is that this entire community consists of the developers, moderators, and players. All of them. So it is nonsense when people say that criticism is invalid unless you've done coding/modeling work for the DayZ mod directly. That is backwards thinking. The mod requires both work and player feedback. That exchange between the developers and players is what makes it a community.
  23. I see. Thanks for the info. Hopefully with it we can make sure this won't happen again.
  24. JonesWilly was the one who organized the event. I can tell you he is no Rescue Ranger, so he indeed lied to people. Do you know which TS server they used, btw?
