Tents are the lifeblood of late gameplay in Day Z. Elite groups of survivors rely heavily on items stockpiled in hidden tents. Unfortunately, they are currently in a very unstable state. Blinking Tents Bug Every time a server admin improperly restarts the HIVE along with their server, tents (and cars) are not loaded into the game. They still exist in the database and will reappear upon proper restart, but they will not show up until then. These improper restarts happen all the time because the game is currently in an unstable state. For groups that operate out of their camps, they never know when their tents (and cars) will be missing for the majority of a day. It also makes it difficult to tell if cars have been stolen or simply if the server just needs a proper restart. Tent blinking makes them extremely unreliable. [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6] Duplicating Tents Bug Every time you place a tent, it is there forever on the database. You can package the tent and place it down in a different place, however the server will still remember the old location (as well as the new one). Many people have encountered this bug and been able to essentially farm tents. Beyond making it extremely easy to acquire new tents once you have your first, this makes it virtually impossible to create an organized camp. Any tents you placed will come back every time the server restarts. Since ownerless tents despawning after 2 days has not been implemented nor has an ability to simply delete tents, this leads to a cancerous case of tentception in a campsite that will eventually take over everything you know and love. [1], [2], [3], [4] Difficult to Place Tents Tents have always been very fickle about where they can be placed. In the past, it was necessary to place them at least twenty-five feet away from any other objects (such as trees) and on a perfectly smooth surface. This makes tents incredibly difficult to hide, because they have to be in a clearing. Fortunately, this was noted and the radius was reduced in patch 1.5.8.3. Unfortunately, now tents cannot be placed at all. Anywhere. [1], [2], [3] The aim of this post is to consolidate the current issues with tents in order that greater developer attention may be focused on this area of the game. Comments and discussion are welcome.

We have many tents we were able to place previously, but now there are literally no locations that will allow me to place a tent. = (
-
Ah, I misunderstood you. Our actual cars are missing, things in many of our tents, and some of our actual tents that were placed (which is impossible for a player that is not the owner to do). Our issues are slightly different, but could both be related to server data corruption with the latest patches. EDIT: Server just restarted again. The tents and items from today reappeared. The cars and items from the previous day are still gone. We are now assuming it was a raid, followed by the "tent blinking" bug.
-
We are experiencing similarly lost gear. Our campsite had not been raided in over two weeks, so its location was very safe. The items we lost over the last two days has been lower tier, making us think it was not a raid. In addition, today 3 placed tents that were mine actually just dissapeared, which should be impossible for a player to do. The US HC1 server we are on has been restarted multiple times, so it is not the "blinking tents/cars" bug. In total we have lost the following: -Yesterday- 1 camo UAZ, 1 yellow UAZ (each of which had tons of car gear and fuel tanks) 30-40 DMR mags, 1 DMR (entire stack of dmr ammo) 30-40 Stanag SD (entire stack of sd ammo) 20-30 Blood bags (entire stack of blood bags) 1 M240 10 stored tents 10-20 food (all food in tent) 5-15 water (all water in tent) -Today- 3 of my personal placed tents that just entirely deleted, which contained: 2 M16 Acog 1 M4A3 CCO 20-30 smoke grenades and grenades 10 painkillers 10 morphine Can you give a more thorough description of what exactly happened so we can determine if this is the same issue? With the problems over the last few days, I am thinking it might be data corruption.

At the very core of Day Z is the concept of survival, and that often means surviving other players who are trying to kill you. As a result of this, moving through terrain requires as much stealth as possible to avoid being seen by other players. The current black military skins stand out rather sharply with the terrain, so there is a very large need for fully camouflaged ghillie suits that perfectly match tan fields and green/brown forest. Especially considering the amount of players that choose to equip themselves with sniper rifles and camp areas for player kills, ghillie suits would be an amazing addition. These ghillie suits could be dropable items that could spawn at military drop locations. Upon having one in your inventory, you could select ghillie suit (or normal skin) through the scroll wheel much like you do to create a fire.

Also having this issue. I sent the RPT file to the developer email. Here is a description of my problems: Throughout all of this I was repeatedly respawning, because I was experiencing strange things and trying to unglitch my character; in addition, I was joining several different servers (Texas 1, US servers, Virginia servers, USHC1, Colorado) to determine whether it was a single server's problems. First I started spawning in non-spawn locations (Polana, Dolina, Cap Golova) with zombie kills and random amounts of blood. Then I started spawning in the exact same place in Polana grocery store as if it saved right before I clicked respawn. The patch was released minutes after this, so I updated. After update, I now spawn in the debug zone bleeding out with broken bones. I have bled out and been killed by players. Every time I respawn, I am placed in the exact same location in the debug zone, bleeding out.

I am having the same issue. Extremely low framerate even at low settings since the latest patch. Previously I was able to run Day Z at very high settings without framerate issues.

Disappearing Inventory when swimming
adrianscholl replied to BobBlackadder's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I just tested this by slow swimming a large distance back from the ocean debug zone with gear. I was put into the debug zone after sniping laying prone, so no exhaustion prior to ocean. While you can slow swim a very long ways, you eventually drop your gear. I estimate that I slow swam for somewhere under 5 minutes before I dropped my gear. I was unable to further test whether or not treading water every minute or so would replenish stamina enough to slow swim indefinitely. On a related note, I just lost a M4A1 CCO SD, M9SD, DMR, Coyote large, GPS, and a few other things. >_< -
Date: May 9 What happened: Murder count not saved Where you were: Two separate locations on the map What you were doing: Logging back into the server Description: While the new bandit system works almost flawlessly (although you randomly pull out your secondary when you turn into bandit), I have experienced a new problem in regards to murder count specifically. After killing a non-bandit, receiving negative humanity, and turning into a bandit; you may lose the record of the murders (and regain humanity) upon logging off and back onto the server. Sometimes murders are recorded and other times they are not. My suspicion is that rolling saves are not saving the murder count, and only disconnect saves are, because the times I lost it I think the server itself crashed and the disconnect save was not triggered. Hopefully this issue should be addressed because at the moment the system is not accurately recording murders, and thus players who are bandits will often not be displayed as such.

The town is Prigorodky, a small town between Elektro and Cherno on the coast. Pusta is slight north-east of Prigorodky.
-
Bumping the thread because sniping as a bandit (white on a black or green background) is extremely stupid and not currently viable. Snipers should be a hidden threat in this game. Not easily spotted from a mile away.

Date: May 16 What happened: 2 cars, 4 tents disappeared Where you were: At the previous site of tents and cars What you were doing: Going to offload more inventory into tents Server: US Hardcore 1 System specs: Intel Core i7 Processor 2GHz, NVidia GTX 460M 1.5G GDDR5 VRAM, 8GB SO-DIMM RAM, 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive, Windows 7 Home Premium Description: Earlier today there were some issues with the servers connecting to the Hive. I believe admins were instructed to reset character locations. When I logged on today, everyone's spawn was reset such that they loaded at one of the coastal spawns, no matter where they previously logged. I traveled to the site of our tents and cars. We had two tents full of around 10 automatic weapons, stockpiles of ammo, around 35 bloodbags, and other miscellaneous supplies (the other two tents were emptied because their owners died). In addition we had a UAZ and an 8-seater military offroader, both of which each had around 7 jerry cans, 4 tires, 2 fuel parts, some scrap metal, glass, and other misc parts. All of that is now gone. The owners of the server have also stated that they lost all of their campsite, even after a server reset.
-
We are still having this issue where all tents and cars will temporarily disappear after some server restarts. It seems like every time the server is restarted, a die is rolled to determine whether or not the tents and cars will show up that time.
-
Please can this be addressed soon. It is getting completely out of hand. In our attempt to organize our large group, we picked up our old haphazardly organized 11 tents and placed a grid of 12 new tents that are perfectly aligned. Now, every time the server crashes, the 11 tents spawn again in their previous location. We are currently at upwards of 30 tents. If this is not stopped soon, I cannot fathom how many tents will grow like a cancer over our campsite by next week... "An explosion of tents that will blot out the sun, and rain down upon Cherno smiting all who dare stand against it. I fear the evil that we have unleashed upon this world cannot be contained" - [AATW] Bardy

I am a bandit. Unless I know the player is entirely trustworthy, I will shoot on sight any player I encounter. My current character has 4 murders and 4 bandit kills (it should be at 7 murders, but 3 were reverted after a server crash). A few of those murders came from just today. Yet I logged off a moment ago with a non-bandit skin. The passive regeneration of humanity completely destroys long-term records of a player's unique playstyle. There is no way to know if a player is a player-killer or not, unless they have just committed a murder, because in just an hour or two of walking around, your humanity will be positive again. As such, the humanity system does not seem to be working as intended: to clearly mark player killers for other players to instantly know they are not trustworthy. My suggestion to entirely remove passive humanity increase may seem harsh; however, there are currently ingame methods to actively replenish humanity if a player becomes a bandit and wants to switch back. Blood transfusions (and I believe bandaging and allowing people to take out of your pack) increase humanity actively. These active mechanisms should be the only ways to increase humanity. They should be balanced to reasonably allow a player to work back up their humanity if they choose to do so. The side-effect of this might actually be a drop in the overall amount of PvP, as players will have to start considering whether or not they want to be actually be displayed as a bandit for a very extended amount of time AND it will mean that non-bandits are very likely actually non-bandits, so you can probably trust them on sight. Any further comments on the suggestion are fully welcome. Also, <3 if I happened to kill you. = D

All of our tents and cars are back. We have experienced this issue before. Extremely worrisome. I would not consider it resolved.

Gutting animals sometimes produces more meat.
adrianscholl replied to sneakycorndog's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I can confirm this as well. The raw meat is duplicated if multiple people simultaneously gut the animal. -
Did not realize that a clanmate had already posted a bug report. Here is a link to his thread as well: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=3153

Murders Sometimes Not Saving After Logging
adrianscholl replied to adrianscholl's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I have lost a total of 7 murders so far that have been recorded, then were not there upon relog. No bandit kills have been wiped thus far, however. -
NA has been in dire need of some solid veteran/expert servers. For anyone who likes the experience of absolutely no game aids such as crosshairs or nameplates, this server is perfect. After playing on one since they have been set up, I can attest that Franklin's servers have been working quite nicely. Since we have been looking around for a veteran server based in the US, AATW is glad to now call US Hardcore 1 its home. Hopefully we will not have to cross bullets with Franklin and his boys. We really enjoyed meeting up with you guys and running an op together, and we look forward to running more in the future!

Murders Sometimes Not Saving After Logging
adrianscholl replied to adrianscholl's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Is anyone else having this issue? I have lost 4 murders on my current character after relogging (my character is at 6 instead of 10). It actually displays the murder and humanity loss, then when you log back in it sometimes takes the count and humanity loss away. -
