Only just broke into the Bandit Caper. -22k with 14 murders to my name.

Wrote this for another thread but I guess I'll post what can happen to even the most honest of players... I used to be friendly. But after three months of hatchets in the backs from supposedly friendly players, cars spawning on top of me for lols by the script kiddies, snipers playing God from the hills of Elecktro and Cherno, I was twisted. Torn with hate and a desire to spread the pain I had endured I became what I hated the most. The deceitful sniper. I was playing on a server last night which had Side Chat enabled and I stumbled across an UAZ in the server near the NWAF where I guess someone had left it to raid the area. I promptly steal it and head south just to the north of Sosnovka where I part it near some trees on the side of the road. I whip out my M4 SD and shoot out a wheel and damage the windows to make it look "battered". I then head west to an overlooking tree and start the baiting mission of some friendlies or even just someone who might try to screw me over like has often happened before. I soon get a hold of a bloke saying he was in a group in Zaleno and had the necessary wheel to fix the car I claimed I stumbled across. I told them a rough location stating I had just found it wondering from Zaleno to Vybor to meet a friend but had no way of getting it going. They state they will come straight away and I can't hardly wait already! It takes about fifteen minutes before they start talking on the side chat once more asking for an update. I say I'm right next to the car hiding in a bush and that I don't have much ammo left because of some zombies. Really trying to sound like a complete noob with odd references to "some huge pole in the distance" and "my AK47". Exventually they say they can see the car from the trees and pop smoke to let me walk them in to my position. Like really professional blokes that may have been friendly. I talk them in and say I can see one of them with "a big cool gun". They reach the car and one immediately starts fitting the tyre whilst the other two run around the trees trying to find me. "Where are you, we can't find you" says the leader... Three harsh cracks echoed through the long valley. As the smoke lifted from muzzle brake of my M107 I can see three folded forms of humanity littering the road. The side chat is suddenly full of abuse and ill intent... Mission Accomplished. Or more recently. I was at Starry Sobor on overwatch looking for targets. After a good twenty minutes of not much. I heard a car to the West and some odd sounds of gunfire in Novy, I finally spot someone. To the West I spy a sniper in the trees looking over the military tents. Ghillie Suit and the noticable brake of the AS50 visible even at this distance. Range finder says 1080m. Dial for 1000 and hold just high on the prone form's chest. I shoot. I see blood and the bloke collapses flat. But I don't see any death message. Ah, I twigged. The server had them switched off. I check the debug. My Murders (!) had gone up by one, damn I was hoping to kill another bandit. I wait a little incase he wasn't alone. Which was lucky because I see another ghillie'd sniper running away from the trees and to the West. I decide to bug out incase the bloke leaving had a rough estimate on my location. It's risky but I head to the hill overlooking Starry towards the NE. I get into position and spot a chopper crash in the distance. A likely mark that might lure some prey in... I wait for five minutes, not even a sniff. Can't even hear any action down below in Starry. I opt to get up on a knee to get a better view of Starry (first person only server) when I hear a noise... I spin around with my rifle up and see a survivor running up the hill towards me. He notices I have seen him and he runs behind a tree not twenty metres away. Weighing up the odds of a M107 at close range with no crosshairs, I initiate negotiations. "How you going there, mate?" I state. Pretty good he replies still behind cover. "So how are we going to go about this?" I ask, "are you friendly?" "Friendly! Friendly! Friendly!" he yells over the mic. Either way I'd be fluffed so I lower my rifle and invite him to peek and confirm this. He acknowledges and meets me on top of the hill. We exchange a little banter and how much we were both packing our dacks just then. In thanks for not shooting me on sight I drop my M4 SD on the ground and tell him to go nuts. I get a water bottle out of him since I was starting to get a bit thirsty... I ask what he's after and advise him the tents have already been raided and the chopper crash I spotted only had a couple of weapons with bugger all ammo present from a distance. He says he's after NVGs and a GPS. Merry Christmas, I pop my GPS and NVGs in his pack and tell him to be careful. Snipers are everywhere in these parts... It does feel good to interact with other players in words and not bullets. Sometimes.

After playing Czech Armed Forces I want a Sa 58 so bad. Best thing is it could be fed with AKM magazines. Nearly need to find a friendly hacker to help me out. lol.
-
Only some servers have the player markers on maps. I play full Veteran servers with no third person, crosshairs, name plates, death messages or map markers. And I love it. Having to actually use the map to spot land marks and determine your course with a compass or god forbid only a watch is too damn satisfying. XD That's how you play DayZ.
-
The Diamonds were green, ja? They are unit markers in ArmAII and are shown on your HUD when a friendly unit is not in your direct line of sight. I have seen them appear on several instances playing DayZ and actively show the position of all players in the server including on the map. I logged on both situations because there were people awfully close to me on both counts. I think that is caused by hackers though.

What I love about this game
grylsyjaeger replied to Littleassassin2's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I admit I am one of those snipers who takes great pleasure in overwatching a town or area just waiting for some unlucky fool. Some nights I don't even fire a shot. Once I came back with only one loaded magazines out of five (M107 THAT I ACTUALLY FOUND IN THE BARRACKS, THANK YOU). But every now and then I do get the urged to run with the rest of the players... Then I remember how much I just love that sweet retort of the M107 and watching someone fold... -
It will reappear damaged where the wreckage ended up. All our vehicles were teleported to the outskirts of Elecktro once including someone's bus I tested a satchel on and the bus respawned there damaged upon restart. Only if you save a vehicle that is destroyed will it cease to respawn.
-
Don't flip them with a bus. Hilarity ensues.
-
The bullet probably ricocheted away too.

How do I play now that i'm fully geared
grylsyjaeger replied to zillabunny's topic in New Player Discussion
I much prefer the AK-74 over the AKS-74 Kobra. The sight is too finicky. In seriousness just go for broke. I was all nervy about losing my gear the first time I was fully kitted up with an M4A3, M9 SD and a DMR and everything bar the Radio. I was so paranoid I stuck to the northern forests for like three nights just running around killing animals and searching for cars and camps. I found a camp, then a car then when I combined the two by taking the car to the camp... I got shot. Haha... Ah. Now I really enjoy starting afresh on the coast and seeing how well I can equip myself before either my mates reach me for a pick up or how many players I could hunt down with a hatchet... Come here, little boy. I have some night vision goggles for you... -

Victory wheelie.

they should make non PVP servers!!
grylsyjaeger replied to PresidentEvil's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I used to dislike PvP when I was the one getting killed. Now I love it. Stalking that unsuspecting survivor. Waiting until they enjoy that last can of beans before you take their life simply because there isn't enough room in all of Chernarus for two... -
Crashed a bicycle into a lake, now what?
grylsyjaeger replied to decoman's topic in New Player Discussion
Haha, yeah, wait, what? Sorry mate got no advice for you. It will probably either despawn and another vehicle will respawn next restart or it will be stuck in the water for seven days with no one able to use it and then respawn. -
Heli crashes, Are they even rarer?

I found four today cruising around between NWAF and Gorka? -

The Best And Fastest Way To Refill A Helicopter
grylsyjaeger replied to brentp (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
It may be faster but it is awefully exposed. I have three fuel points hidden around the map to refuel the chopper. They have good visibility nearby and a mate often covers me as I refuel incase other players come to investigate. -
Find yourself a Mk. 48 Mod 0. It's a basically a belt fed M14 AIM with the ability to scare the shit out of players in a vehicle. XD

Where are Jerry Cans when you need 'em?!
grylsyjaeger replied to M8EO's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If I am specifically hunting vehicles I always have a jerry on me. 20 litres should get most vehicles at least away from where you've found the car if not to a fuel point. -
Heh I had a small camp there once too. Hid a UAZ there for maybe like a week before someone found it? Kudos for not just capping him!

We found a chopper the other night, repaired it THEN killed the admins with it. Was lol-worthy.
