I'm an admin and relatively new to ArmA in general. In veteran mode, if you see a player you suspect is cheating or using hacks, how do you identify him? Is there any server tools to do this? Got killed by a guy earlier today who I strongly suspected was cheating, but I couldn't even see his name. Edit: It has to be this guy in this thread. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=5503&page=2 He was on our server too, and the incident happened in the exact same place.

What does the female gender model look like? (mhm)

Why? I can shoot you, you can shoot me. You should be aiming for the chest or head regardless. Either way, the difference in hit box is so small, does it really even matter? -

Me neither. I run the ZA1 server, can someone mail it to me, please? -
Any wya to remove annoying server messages from in-game?
Zoop posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Is there any way to remove the annoying server messages from the side when people connect? I don't mind it telling me who connected, but every time someone connects it also says which games/DLCs they own, and that's really not necessary. It spams up the chat and it gets pretty annoying at times, especially if people join in quick succession. -

I'll check it out. Thanks! -
why sacrifice carebears safety for sake of bandits ?
Zoop replied to unsobill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Please tell me you're kidding me. :/ Currently, playing a bandit is the same, if not harder than playing a survivor. EVERYONE is out to kill you, no exceptions. Fellow bandits will likely shoot you, and any survivor that sees you will have a free target on you. There is nothing easy about playing a bandit, unless you're in a group of bandits. Even then, it's not always easy. Being a bandit entails staying in well-populated areas. This includes Cherno. I don't know if you've noticed, but Cherno is pretty busy. It's rather easy for anyone to randomly happen across a bandit who might be looking for prey in or around Cherno or Elektro. Even worse, having a bandit skin almost forces you to stay a bandit. I wanted to stop my banditry a few days ago, but I couldn't, seeing as the moment a survivor saw me, he'd attack me and force me to kill him, locking me in a perpetual loop of being stuck with a bandit skin. -
Long Term Survival & 6 Rules To Keep You Alive!
Zoop replied to LtKillerSAS's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
More often than not, I find this isn't a very viable rule, unless I'm heading the opposite direction. You can never be sure where a player is heading, and if you leave him alone now, he might come across you nearby later, and you can't count on him to show you the same mercy later. Had an incident like this just this morning. I have a bandit skin, and was on my way to Cherno hospital for some med supplies, travelling along the north forest. I saw another player running about 500m below me in the forest, more or less the same direction. I didn't really want to kill him (trying to lose the bandit skin), but I knew that if he's also heading that direction and he sees me, I'm as good as dead. -
I have to admit, I do feel very handcuffed with the server I'm hosting at times. I run the ZA1 server, for South Africa. It is currently the only server available to South Africans. I run it specifically for that reason, seeing as the only other option available for South Africans are servers thousands of kilometres away. I enforce a ping limit of 220, which I can't lower further, because SA internet is pretty bad and many local players have frequent ping spikes to over 200. I encounter these myself pretty frequently, especially now that we've had issues with the Seacom cable. Now here's the issue. Many international players still manage to get in under that limit, and they fill the server up, meaning many of my local players don't get a spot. Now how is it fair that they have at least a hundred other servers dotted around america, europe and russia, but they come fill up the single server we have for South Africans? And then I'm not allowed to kick them to make space for the people I'm hosting the server for?

I honestly can't get over how retarded this argument is. 'Herp I think the removael of da bandit skinz is going to turn it into a FFA deathmacth, so I'm just going to shoot every wun I see.' YOU are the only problem in this change. -
So people are complaining that the removal of bandit skins are going to make you unsure of whether someone is an enemy or not? So, what? If someone has a survivor skin you're not wary of him? Let me put it this way. In my week and a half of playtime, I've been killed by a bandit once. I've been killed by fellow survivors probably around ten times. I've been helped by people with bandit skins twice. Once when I was swarmed by zeds on the hill behind the northern hospital in cherno, a bandit came and helped me. Another time, I was at the Balota airfield, with low blood after fighting some zeds, and I climbed into the tower. I fainted on the steps, and a bandit who was hiding in the tower (and had probably watched the whole commotion), took a blood pack out of my backpack and applied it to me. Granted, he told me to leave and that if he saw me there again he would kill me, but he let me go nontheless.

My brightness and gamma are both set to 1.0, and somehow I can see at night, if I've been playing since before it became night. If I disconnect and reconnect, everything goes pitch dark.

Bandits don't get punished, Survivors do...
Zoop replied to leblackdragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm saying people who thought they were going to come in and survive for hours on end while being careless should either shape up, or ship out. My server is rife with bandits, yet I very rarely get killed. Why? Because I actually think about what I'm doing. The times I die, it's because I was being careless. It's honestly not so hard surviving if you simply use a little bit of your brains. Stay away from PvP hotspots. Cherno, Elektro. Don't even go there. Airfields? Pffft. Not unless you're in a group of trustworthy players. Spawn on the coast? Run inland immediately. Bandits mostly hang around the coast. Why stick around there then? There are tons of towns inland with decent loot. Hell, the east coast is largely a wasteland. Very few people travel up there. -

The underlying mindset has always been clear. Rocket wants the game to be an unforgiving, harsh and cruel game. He doesn't care if you're butthurt because you spent 13 hours collecting tin cans and now somebody shot you on the beach because he felt like it. The point of the mod is to be an FPS roguelike. It's supposed to be tough. You're supposed to die, and you're supposed to do it often. Getting angry because you can't tell who to trust and who not is ridiculous. It's like complaining because Desktop Dungeons is too hard. It's ironic that everyone is complaining that they have to shoot other people on sight simply because they don't know if they can trust them or not. Have you all thought, for a second, that other guy doesn't want to shoot you either, but he shoots you because he's scared you'll shoot him? You, yourself, are part of the problem you whine so much about. Also, why are you sticking to areas that are densely populated? I never go into Cherno or Elektro anymore. I head directly north upon spawning and resupply there. -
He was lying. Possibly in an attempt to get some uninformed chap killed. :P The CZ550 is by far the louder of the two guns. It always feels like it brings the zeds from miles around.

Everyone starts on equal footing, everyone can do everything all the other people can. How does that make some players have more advantages than others? -
What's he brown nosing for? He's thanking and complimenting the team on their hard work? Is that considered brown nosing now? Guys! Everybody stop thanking the devs. You're brown nosing!

More suggestions for artificial advantages for survivors to unbalance the game.

Don't add artificial advantages or disadvantages for any playstyle, ever.

And if players knew how to play properly, they wouldn't be affected by the deathmatch FFA. -
Slower zombies are scarier than the fast ones.
Zoop replied to Horr1d's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really don't find the zombies in this game scary, tbh. They might give me a fright if they catch me unawares, but they're definitely not scary. -

Please stop with anti-sandbox suggestions!
Zoop replied to Arnoldio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Stop with the damn suggestions for artificial boundaries for characters. Everyone starts on equal footing, everyone can do whatever they want from there. Want to be a cook? Go cook your damn meat. Want to be a medic? Go raid the hospital and heal people. This isn't Team Fortress 2. Nor is it World of Warcraft. This is DayZ. A post-apocalyptic survival horror game which relies very heavily on being absolutely unforgiving. Stop trying to change the game to be more forgiving. If you want that from a game, go play something else, or even better, go make your own damn mod in which you are treated like a scared child. Stop trying to change the things that makes DayZ the most interesting and compelling game of 2012. The entire premise of the game is that at any time hours, if not days of work can be undone by a single bullet from a malicious bandit or hungry zombie. If you don't like that, maybe this game isn't for you. -
The point of the game, for me at least, is that I can roleplay any role I want. If you set predefined personalities, you take away some of that freedom I have.

I got killed because of this today. Two newbies on the beach started firing at me, so I ran and hid in a house. Killed them both as they ran past (noobs). Then I got a bandit skin. I didn't mind that so much, and I even announced to the server that I had a bandit skin and what happened. Then I get to Cherno, stop to check my map to see where to refill my canteens, and some ass shoots me in the back of the head, yelling 'Bandit!' afterwards. It wasn't even honorable. I mean, who the hell shoots someone who is reading his map? Granted, I should have gone to a more secluded place to do it, but this guy had probably been following me. This happens a day after I decided not to be a bandit any longer. I just lost my bandit skin a few hours previously. Needless to say, if you're such a moron to announce that you just killed a bandit, shortly after killing a bandit, you get what's coming to you. He plays my server frequently. I'll find him again, and if I don't, someone else will. I placed a bounty on him, promising anyone who kills him on sight nightvision goggles. Which I don't have. Hehe.
