It's so much fun punishing careless players. Sometimes players don't die immediately from being shot, and just get knocked unconscious. I find this effect is a lot more common with weapons such as the Enfield. If I see a careless player (like someone running along in the middle of the street), I'll often pop one or two rounds into him and then just move on. If they don't fall unconscious and don't die, which is very rare, I just finish the job. But this is no fun. However, if they fall unconscious, survive and manage to bandage themselves, that's the fun part. They have no idea who shot them, and even better, they'll be pretty low on blood, fainting as often as not, making any encounter with zeds or other players really dangerous. Kneecapping is fun too, but it's a bit more risky, seeing as the player can still look around him and announce your position in the chat if he manages to spot you. Careless players deserve to be punished. 90% of people I kill/maim are careless people.

Are you kidding me? A meter that tracks your actions and changes your appearance accordingly? Seriously? Wow, that's unprecedented!

Yeah, that really does seem to against the scope of the game. Lying is one of the biggest elements in the game.

You really saved me a lot of headaches. Eek, turns out it now opens a standard ArmA 2 server, instead of the DayZ server. Any ideas? Would this be a command line issue?

IMO, the only time the Enfield should be used for zeds is if there's only a few, you're in a desperate situation, or you're already being ganked by a lot of them and don't have any other ammo. Otherwise it's a strictly PvP gun.

Ah, makes sense. I'm still trying to figure the Rcon GUI out. It simply refuses to connect to my server, but I'll make a thread about that in the server forum.

Why? It's only the vocal minority who complain about being killed. The rest are too busy immersing themselves in the game. And no. Artificial dis/advantages for players are not in tune with the scope of the mod project. If a player comes across you, he should have no idea whether you are good or bad. It's one of the main driving points of the game. Having cursors that indicate whether you are a good or bad guy is detrimental to the entire scope of the game. Also, stop saying 'but other games have this/that'. Shut up. This isn't 'other games'. This is DayZ.

The Enfield doesn't really need to one-shot players. It almost always knocks them unconscious, giving you more than enough time to make an escape, take a second shot or close the distance to finish the job. After the DMR, it's the player hunting weapon of choice for me. The 1911 is way too noisy for my taste. Seeing as I almost always carry an Enfield or a sniper, I like to keep something with me that's at least moderately quiet.

Horse poop. I've been killed by more survivors than bandits. On the other end of the spectrum, being a survivor is not a guarantee for being shot by a bandit. Having a bandit skin is a guarantee that the first survivor you come across is going to shoot you.

If you were banned by an admin, would it still tell you BattleEye: Banned (hacking)? I thought that was only shown when the BattleEye client itself detected that you were hacking?

So, a few of the guys on the ZA1 server have decided to start the Cult of Zom on the ZA1 server. They claim they never kill any zombies, who are the 'enlightened ones', and they kill anyone who they find killing zombies. They killed me north of Kamenka while I was heading for a deer hut. Things are about to get interesting. Any fanatics on other servers?

I prefer the Enfield myself. Use the Enfield to hunt players, the Makarov to hunt zeds. In fact, I rarely use any other weapons in game. Seeing as I'm a bandit, I'll only drop the Enfield if I get a sniper. I stick to the Makarov, because its ammo is ridiculously easy to find, and it's pretty silent compared to many of the other pistols.

There is no organized police force. There is no order. This is the apocalypse. Who is going to enforce justice and bring criminals to heel?

Well, we've already got nun zombies. :P

The excessive whinging about bandits and banditry is starting to get to me too. I wish people who aren't satisfied with the direction the mod is taking would just leave and go play something else.

And how does this make you better than the 'shoot on sight' people? How do you know when someone is an accidental bandit or a real bandit?

One of my group found a ghillie suit in one of the towns north of Kamenka.

I can't seem to get the server app working, not sure what I'm doing wrong. It can detect the server as running, but if the server crashes, it can't find the file to restart it, even though I'm pointing direct at it. My path looks like the following in the app; C:Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/arma 2 operation arrowhead/Start_Dayzserver.bat Don't really know why it doesn't find the file. I'm a bit of a noob at stuff like this, though. Am I doing something wrong with the target line? Launch parameters are correct, though. If someone could please help me out, I'd be extremely grateful. I need to get the app running asap, seeing as I'm a student busy with my mid-year exams, and I can't really check up on the server every few hours to see that it's still running.
