Yeah, Rcon GUI also simply refuses to connect to my server. I tried running it off my own PC as well as directly off the server, but still nothing.

Well, we've got a thread for it over on the official NAG forums. http://www.nag.co.za/forums/showthread.php?18385-The-Official-NAG-DayZ-Server-Thread Activity has lulled a bit lately, but started picking up again with the release of the new patch. Most weekends, the server is full up. There are also a few other people in SA looking at getting servers, but I'm not sure what the status on that is.

I'm always stuck relying on other people for important things like like the new server.pbo etc, because nobody has told me where to get those things. It is getting really frustrating to keep a server up to date if you never have download links for the files the devs tell you to upgrade. In the past, people have told me that there is a dedicated server hosts section on this forum as well as a google group for us. I've PMed and emailed numerous times to request access to the forum section, to no avail. Then I tried getting access to the google group. I've PMed Ander and received no response. I've also requested membership to the group directly, following their application guidelines, but I'm still waiting. As of now, I am completely unable to upgrade my server to 1.7.1.1. Can someone please tell me what I have to do to get access to these files that I need? This is the fourth time that I am stuck without access to files necessary to run the server. Quite honestly, I no longer even feel like running this server, because it is always so painful getting information on these upgrades. I am tired of having to beg and plead other people or the devs for information regarding new patches or important files. Also, could I beg someone to please send me the dayz_server file? While this whole thing is getting sorted it would be nice to at least have my server upgraded away from the extremely buggy 17.1. And now I find out there is a new mission file I was supposed to download. That I didn't even know about. Great. Why is developer/server host communication so absolutely shit?

Well, take screencaps of it with timestamps every time you see it then. If they ARE exploiting it to farm loot, then they should be blacklisted.

Yes, that's a whole different ball-game. However, I'm talking about people who see a server passworded once, with maybe 2 or 3 people in, then run to the forums to lodge a complaint. I someone sees it happen repeatedly over a series of days, fair enough, but if it's the first time you see it, don't assume the worst.

There is nothing wrong with passwording a server while performing maintenance on it. I did it for ZA1 yesterday, because it was the simplest way of keeping people from joining the server while we try and figure out what the hell is going on. If we lock the server and kick everyone who joined off, people also run to bitch and moan about it. The only people bitching and moaning about locked/temporarily passworded servers are people who are not running servers themselves. Maybe those people should learn what goes into running a server before they come whine here.

Yeah, but you know people. Where's the fun in being rational and using logic when you can run to the forums to bitch about a passworded server?

I just wish there would be a definitive guide for server hosts on where to go after starting up a server. I had to find out about the forum section and google group from other people. It was never communicated to me by anyone. As it stands now, Dev to server host communication is sorely lacking. I feel like every time a new update comes out, I'm chucked right back into the darkness again.

Meaning they have to get to the older messages sometime, right? 1 month is way too long to have to wait for any information.

For what little it's worth, I love the patch. The only thing I want changed is that zeds shouldn't be able to see me proning from 20m away. That's a bit harsh. This patch has basically dealt with two things at once. PvP won't be as bad, and people now have more reason to work together. On another note, the night time is also a bit over the top. The more Hardcore players rage against people like me, but it needs to be changed. Right now, it's driving people away. My server goes almost completely empty once night falls, as everyone jumps over to day servers. I used to visit my grandparents' farm often as a child, and I've never seen a single night as dark as they are in this game. Even on the cloudy nights in the country you could still at least see a little bit. Yes, yes, I know. Flares and chemlights and flashlights. Fuck that. They attract zombies and other players. I'm all for having night time be difficult, but right now it's basically a death sentence unless you're very lucky or incredibly skilled. Also, zombie respawn timers are too fast.

Oh yes, because that's so easy with a .11% drop rate.

What? People actually want the current game changed? Seriously? It's amazing. 1.7.1 is what the zombie apocalypse should all be about. It's tough as fuck, and not in a bad way. Only thing I'd change is the pitch black nights. They're unplayable at the moment.

I have no idea why, but everyone who tries to join gets stuck at Loading. I've installed 1.7.1, the latest beta and have my Hive_ext set up correctly, but to no avail. Anyone know why my server is doing this? I've been tinkering away for the last 5 hours, and still no fix. Getting rather frustrated. It's Father's Day and I still haven't had a chance to go around my parents' house because I'm stuck trying to get the server working again.

Yes' date=' thanks! Forgot to thank you for the PM. I've managed to fix it. It seems in scripts.txt there was a line '5 Alex' that was causing people to get kicked. Removed it as per the instruction of some users on the forums, and it's working now.

I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone please give me instructions on how it works? I've tried installing the beta patch directly on the server, but it keeps telling me 'wrong cd-key'.

Okay, thanks. Got everything working and I just got in. Also managed to fix the error 16 that was continuously kicking everyone, making them get stuck at Loading. Thanks for all the help, guys. I owe you all.

Ah, made a mistake while copying. It's opening the server now, but now the issue is that my server simply no longer shows up in the server list when searching for it. Edit: Wait, no. people are joining the server, it just seems I am unable to see it now, for some strange reason.

Ever since installing the new 1.7.1 patch, nobody can get onto my server. The Hive and HiveAuth both initialize, but after that it isn't showing any activity at all like it usually does. Is there a new Hive out? (I'm on 1.9.3), or should I use the Hive_ext, and if so, how do I install Hive_ext?

Really now. I think it's quite bad that this many server hosts are not in the loop about what's going on. I see there's a google group for us, but I'm still pending membership confirmation.
