Hi, I run the South Africa server, country code ZA1. Any issues, complaints or questions can be directed to me here. It's currently the only South African server available, so I'm just posting this up here for in case any stray South Africans have yet to see one of the multiple ZA server threads on our local gaming forums.

And with the limited tools, how do you expect us to inform people every time the server restarts? We don't have any tools that automatically broadcast just before a server restart, and much less can anyone expect us to sit at our PCs, waiting for the restarts to roll aroun so we can log onto the server and tell everyone first.

I commend you for actually posting proof, unlike 99% of the other people posting admin abuse threads.

I don't think he meant 'private' server, as in running their own Hive. No use even making a thread about servers running their own Hive, because the devs have zero control over those.

I run a server. I can very easily change the time on it. In fact, mine is currently set back 3 hours to ensure all my players coming home from work at night have a bit of daylight to play around in, instead of always being stuck in the pitch-black night.

They're using bandwidth on the DayZ central server. All legit DayZ servers are connected to it.

Now THIS is a clear case of admin abuse. People are allowed to build stuff wherever they want. Stop crying about it and take it down with a toolbox.

This once happened to me. Was in Elektro, got sniped by some guy while I was looting the firestation, then respawned exactly where I died, only I was unconscious for at least 3 minutes. From there on, every time I logged back into the game, I would be unconscious for a few minutes. Only fixed itself after I died.

Any solid proof to these accusations? No use even making a thread if you don't at least have something to back it up with.

Can someone please point me towards these admin super tools we keep getting blamed for using? Because I run a server and the only tools I have access to is kicking people, banning people or restarting the server. I also want access to these flying hax, insta-kills on non-admin players, the ability to magically access the DayZ central server and roll back my server, as well as the ability to give myself uber l33t equipment.

Proof to back thgis up or just your verbal accusations? I honestly don't know why you people bother posting if you don't even, at the very least, have a single screenshot.

Yes. Yes I do. There are going to be admins who abuse it, yes. I don't. I'm a fair admin. I'm not going to leave DCers to ruin the experience for the legit players simply because somewhere out there an asshole admin is going to abuse the system. And I take offence at you calling me a BanHappy admin. If you actually knew me, you'd know I absolutely HATE being an admin. The only reason I'm an admin is because there's nobody else I can ask to run the server for me. Sometimes I actually feel I'm a bit too lax on enforcing the server rules, simply because I hate having to be the admin and/or the one to police my server. I am anything BUT a BanHappy admin.

I've got fraps running permanently while playing the game. I record almost every kill I make. It's honestly not that hard knowing when someone desyncs and when someone disconnects because you shot at them. Especially not if the guy is enough of an idiot to go idle in the lobby after aborting. I run my server pretty well, if I do say so myself. I don't abuse my admin powers. The only thing I try to do is provide a nice, fair and enjoyable server for all my players. In my server's history, I've only ever banned two people for DCing, one of which was also only a 24 hour ban. I hardly think I'm a deviant or 'rogue' admin on a power trip.

It's been part of the ZA1 server for ages. We also have map markers that points the direction to the marker in-game, as well as the distance. No idea how to switch it off. I run a Veteran server, so I would have though things like that should be disabled by default.

Christ Corvax. We are going to ban for people who ruin the game by exploiting and disconnecting. Get over it already. Stop trying to fight that we're not allowed to do it, because all you're really fighting for is your 'right' to spam alt-F4 every time someone shoots at you. DCing is inexcusable. If I gather proof to back it up, I WILL ban players for it. Don't play a goddamned hardcore survival, perma-death mod, if you're too pussy to actually play it without cheating. If you don't disconnect to avoid death, you've got nothing to fear from 'power-hungry' and 'deluded' admins like me and Wildgunstomcat.

You can try the NW airfield, but expect to be killed by a camping sniper. You can also try Stary Sobor, as it's got some nice military drops, but once again, watch out for people already looting the place and/or people camping the military tents.

No. I run a server for South Africa, but people from all over play on mine, and I won't take that away from them.
