Sure some people might betray you, but without help you'll die cold and alone.

I don't want to come of as an ass, but it's like game design golden rule #4 "Don't tell the player how he feels. He will generally disagree.".

  7. I agree with your analysis of the situation. If people need each other to survive, they won't gun each other down senselessly. I'm not sure I like most of your ideas for making the game harder. Headshotting zombies to kill em? With those laggy bastards? No thanks. Maybe make them do more damage or something? I hope everyone that reads this thread actually gets the message through their thick skulls instead of going back to suggesting broken morality systems over and over again.

    What I feel Day Z is missing

    I'm okay with crafting but progression systems generally cause people to "farm" their skills instead of playing naturally. I wouldn't like to see "skin X animals to level up your hunting abilities" because we'd end up with people murdering every animal they come across just for points. Maybe if you learnt skills purely by surviving X number of days it wouldn't cause people to act much different than they do now. For example you could gain one skill point per day to invest in purely non-combat skills. The skills would be stuff like skinning, medicine, weapon maintenance, vehicle repair etc.

    + Rep for using a big word and accurately summarising those posts. Spawning miles away isn't difficulty, it's inconvenience. If you spawned out at sea and had to swim for 30 minutes to get to shore the game wouldn't be any harder, just a pain in the ass.

    I like the idea of a bit of character diversity as long as it doesn't over specialise people and as long as you don't have to level-up your skills.
  14. I quite like this idea, not sure how well it'll work with the 50 different alternate dimensions but okay. It'd be cool if got some survivors and/or bandits on to discuss survival strategies with each other etc.
  15. I think as long as something fits with the mood of the game it's okay. As long as it doesn't "tame" the world.
  16. Those where all pretty justified. I kill AFK players if they don't wake up for over a minute, can't risk them shooting me in the back as soon as I leave.

    Meh, it's worth a shot imo. They won't attack you unless you actually do something wrong so I'm fine with the t-8000 mode.

    [Suggestion] Night/Day Cycle

    I'd prefer the OPs suggestion but I would be fine with nights if they allowed me to see at least a couple of metres in front of my face. I ran out of flares one night and had to switch servers because I was essentially blind. I grew up in the country side and it was never that dark unless you where in such think forest that all moonlight was blocked. I guess it could potentially get as bad if it was cloudy and the moon was weak, but that should be rare.
