  1. Note sure why virustotal isn't reporting the false positive; I'm still getting it. I'm sure a few people have reported this false positive already though, including myself. In the meantime, just add the BEclient.dll to the 'real time protection' exceptions. (There are other exceptions, so ensure you use the correct section). I think you have to allow the copy that's in your users appdata folder, rather than the one in your Arma 2 folder. Eg: c:\users\[your name]\appdata\local\ArmA 2 OA\BattleEye\BEClient.dll

Is the Ghillie Suit Worth It?

They only help (a little) whilst you're not moving and in a tree/bush. Remember there are no plants rendered @200m, so don't lie on the ground thinking you're invisible. The biggest bonus is that your alice/coyote pack is hidden.

    Changing In-Game Name

You usually can't change the name in the default profile though. You have to create a new profile and re-apply any custom key bindings.

    Day z singleplayer

The 'Dayz SP' mod is out of date now. If you want a more up-to-date single player, then use the 'Daizy' mod (on the Kodabar blogspot). Apparently linking is forbidden, so you'll need to Google it. There are different 'variants' to try depending on what you want out of the game. As people have said, you don't get the adrenalin rush that comes from playing real people, but when you find a variant that you like, it can still be a lot of fun. The version I have at the moment has AI survivors (that team up with you) and lots of bandits that try to shoot you. It also has heli-crash sites, as well as vehicle spawns. NB: I don't use the launcher described below - I just downloaded the PBO files and added it as a mod in the normal way; I just start Arma and choose Daizy from the single player menu.
  5. You're absolutely right - they are doing whatever they want (and they seem to have a very strange set of priorities sometimes). But on Github, they ask for feedback and bug reporting, and I guess I got angry yesterday when it transpired that this request appears to be not very sincere. Why don't you spend dozens of hours of your time testing the bug-ridden builds for them and then come back to tell us that you feel fine about it when your feedback is dismissed and obvious issues aren't even acknowledged? I'm not going to apologise for being angry, although I did already apologise for the wording of my post.
  6. To answer the posts about why I was angry and rude, it's because on Github, Carl (R4Z0R49) totally dismissed the issue, not even recognising the unfairness of it, or the fact that the latest beta basically breaks the game for single players when competing against pairs/teams. I had played this particular beta for several hours and was giving my feedback on it, and basically R4Z0R49 was saying 'f**k you, I don't want your opinion'. In fact, his attitude on Github was that blood bags are harder to use than meat, which is an incredible statement from someone who is deciding the direction and fate of this game. He said nothing about the intention to change the way blood bags worked either, except maybe to prevent them being used when your combat icon is flashing. I've been testing these betas everyday for many weeks through some really shitty, buggy, broken builds, which has sacrificed my own enjoyment of the game because I could have been playing on the stable v1744 or some other DayZ mod. In fact, in one recent thread I was actually defending the devs with regard to the issue of displaying crash-sites on the map, suggesting that people should test it first before coming to a judgement, rather than simply relying on on the description in the changelog. So I can understand how the devs can't fully predict how the changes are going to affect gameplay, but to totally dismiss feedback and not even recognise an issue that should be right in front of your face is inexplicable. Of course, I've cooled down today and apologise for the expletives and personal attack. But I stand by my feedback from yesterday - I am not going to test builds where I have to spend an hour trying to get my health back every time I get injured, when other players can just blood bag each other in seconds and get on with whatever 'mission' they're on. That is a broken game.
  7. You should come on the Wireworld server and actually play the beta builds. The last five releases have all been very broken (as in 'stuff doesn't work properly' and the balance/gameplay is also broken). Speculating about a line in a changlog is a world away from experiencing what the devs have actually implemented. Personally I am not going to waste my time with it any longer, and I'm going back to v1744 servers. I'm fed up with the one-step-forward-two-steps-back approach the developers seem to be following. It's really disappointing, but I've got zero confidence left now.
  8. None of them. They are the source files for the server admins. The admin compiles the PBO files and distributes them to the players. If you followed the instructions, then you'd know where to download the Wireworld PBOs. Running his gaming centre? Spending time with his family? If you emailed him at the correct address, then you should wait 24 hours for a reply. That's a great idea. Good luck.
  9. Silly, but not game-breaking. This is game-breaking. Spamming??? So how are single players supposed to regain blood then, you fucking geniuses. This is not the first time I have to ask myself if the devs even play this fucking game? I sometimes wonder if they are trying to kill this mod on purpose, or whether they are just idiots. As far as I'm concerned, having played every single beta patch, the final release of v175 is going to be shit. I've lost all confidence in the devs, and they've shown time and time again that they don't know what the fuck they're doing. The patches are getting worse all the time, instead of better.
  10. The server I play on has had this version since yesterday. Firstly, no matter how much blood you get from food, your meter always stops flashing, so no need to worry about that. But secondly, THIS CHANGE COMPLETELY SUCKS BALLS IF YOU PLAY ALONE. It was bad enough that pairs/teams of players can instantly go from 600 blood to 12000 with one blood bag, and do it fast enough even during a fight. Whereas lone players had to ensure they had the 'golden three' (hatchet, knife and matches) at all times, spend a lot of time finding several animals, put themselves in danger of being spotted when lighting fires, and then eat 14 steaks to achieve the same effect as one quick blood bag. If you play alone you are totally f**ked - this change is a game-breaker for single players, and I can't imagine the devs will keep it in. Personally, I think steaks should give 800-1000 blood considering how much more effort intensive it is to administer than bags. I also think blood bags should give just 6000 blood each, so you need two of them to restore full health. Thirdly, in the single player version of Dayz (called 'Daizy'), you can administer your own blood bags by right-clicking on the icon in your inventory. This should have been implemented in DayZ months ago IMO. BTW, this is the fourth or fifth 'broken' version of v175 in a row. I really think the devs are struggling to improve the game whilst keeping it balanced and interesting. There are servers running very customised versions of v174 which seem much better 'forks' than I've seen from the recent v175 betas.
  11. I've no idea who passworded TS or why, or whether it is permanent. But if you join the lobby, the password is given in the server message. This works even if you have the wrong DayZ version. If you can't even get into the lobby, try updating your Arma version to the latest beta first.
  12. The source files of the v175 beta are released on github by r4z0r (the main dev). The admin of Wireworld needs to do something technical (compile the source into PBO files or something like that) and then make them available only to the players who want to join the Wireworld server. To that end, you have to follow the instructions in the first post in this thread. I'll repeat them here: Search for 'wireworld', either in DayZ Commander or the in-game server list. Join the server lobby. You'll get a kick message which does two things. Firstly it gets your name and player id into the database so you can be whitelisted later. Secondly the message displays the Admin's email address and the server's Teamspeak IP. You then email the admin (Mac) with your player name, age and the reason why you want to play on the server. He will manually whitelist you. [Deleted instructions for displaying your GUID - apparently not required now] Whilst you are waiting for that to happen you can join the Wireworld Teamspeak, go to the 'Dayz Home' channel, and the link to the v175 files are in the description pane. See the post above yours. I explain in detail how to use the v175 mod alongside your v174.
  13. It's very easy; it's harder to explain what to do than to actually do it... 1) Adding the mod without overwriting your v174 Open your Arma 2 folder, and you'll see your default (v174) dayz mod folder called: @DayZ The path will be different depending on whether you use steam or not, so it's up to you to find out where the game is installed. I don't use steam and my path is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\@DayZ Copy that folder, and rename the copy: @DayZ175 You don't put it anywhere else; the copy should be in the same root folder as the original (usually \Arma 2\) Once you've contacted Mac, you'll know where the server's v175 files are. Download the RAR file. Use an archiver like 'Peazip' or 'Winrar' to unpack it. It contains three PBO files: dayz_anim, dayz_code and dayz_sfx. Move those three files to your @DayZ175\addons folder, overwriting the files that are already in there. BTW, if you have any RAR files in the root of your DayZ175 folder (from when you copied the original), you can delete them if you want. 2) Starting the game So, every time you want to play v175, you start the mod in the @DayZ175 folder. Every time you want to play v174, you start the mod in the @DayZ folder. The easiest method to do that for DayZ Commander users is to go to: Dayz Commander -> settings -> DayZ Directory Tick the override box and type '175' at the end of the path. To revert back to v174, just untick the override box. You can also choose what mod to run using shortcuts, where the targets of your shortcuts would be: "[path goes here]/arma2oa.exe" -mod=@DayZ <------ to play v174 "[path goes here]/arma2oa.exe" -mod=@DayZ175 <------ to play v175 Again, I don't know your path to the game, so I just left it out. You need to fill in the part that says [path goes here]. If you don't remember to change the mod when you switch servers, all that happens is that you get a connection error. Your game and character are not damaged or affected in any way. Hope that helps. See you on the server!
  14. I don't have any of those stories. What about losing fights when you have a huge advantage? I got a shed-load of those.

What do you have YOUR visibility at?

In addition to visibility being fixed in Dayz, I also think some of the other graphic settings are controlled server-side too. For instance, terrain and object detail seem to be fixed at 'normal' or 'high' so that everyone sees more-or-less the same rendering (slight differences in graphics cards not withstanding). Some servers may not force these settings, but the ones I play on seem to.

  18. I didn't vote (I assume this poll is for players on the Balota Buddies server). Just to say though... The server I play on uses it just now. It works really well so far, especially since there are only ever between 5-25 players on. It's not realistic by any means, but it does give potentially more 'hot spots' for PvP (if you don't have 15+ players on Chenarus, player encounters can be too rare for most people's taste). To a certain extent it actually prevents people with vehicles/choppers from madly rushing around raping crash-sites, as they need to be far more cautious and ensure the area is cleared of other players before approaching (especially now that you also spawn zombies in a vehicle from 300m). Bear in mind how the crash-site spawns work in the latest versions. Instead of all spawning in at once on server reboot, one spawns in randomly every thirty minutes to an hour. You hear a loud crash/boom for a few kilometres around the new site. A few minutes later it is automatically marked on the map (if you have one in your inventory). However, players who are not on the server when the crash-site spawns cannot see the marker when they subsequently log-in. Further, only the latest crash-site is ever marked on the map. It's not like you can see all of them all of the time. So if you join the server five hours after a reboot, there are potentially six or seven crash sites for which you don't know the location (I don't know if the number of sites is capped - it doesn't seem to be). The server I play on restarts every 8 hours and I still come across older crash-sites that no-one visited and that I didn't know about. I've also yet to be sniped at a crash site. In my opinion, you should run it for a few days (with a server message explaining it's just temporary) and then have your poll, to avoid any knee-jerk reactions.

Looking for UK peeps or Clan! :)

Anyone 18+ looking for a UK/EU server should give Wireworld UK a shot. At the moment the number of players varies from 5 to 25. During the quiet times, you have plenty of space to gear-up, set-up tents, repair vehicles or raid camps. When it's busier, there's some good PvP action. Most players are on the Teamspeak server, and once you've established yourself a bit, you can team up with other players on an ad-hoc basis. Wireworld is running the latest beta patch, so you have to download three PBO files to play. Follow the instructions in the above link to get whitelisted, get on the teamspeak server, and get the link to the files. See you on the server!

Looking for a good uk private hive

If you're 18+ (or a mature 16+) and want a server that's quiet sometimes for scavenging, gearing-up, repairing vehicles, pitching tents and raiding camps, but busy at other times for some good PvP action, then Wireworld UK might suit you. The quiet times are also really good for new players - it gives you a bit of space to breathe. I notice that you've also been looking for other players to team-up with. One great aspect about the Wireworld teamspeak is that most players actually use it, so after you establish yourself on the server, you can usually team-up with other players without having to formally join a clan. The whitelisting process is easy: · Search for 'Wireworld' in Dayz Commander or the in-game filter · Join it and you'll get a kick message with an email address in the lobby. The teamspeak IP is also given in the server message. · Before you disconnect, in the chat, type: #beclient guid · Email the given address with your GUID, age, and info about why you want to be whitelisted. · The admin will manually whitelist you after reading your email. Full instructions are in the linked thread above.
  21. It's was nice to see so many new players on the server and in the teamspeak the last couple of days! Hope you're enjoying it. Don't be shy in the teamspeak, and remember that it may take some hours before you become established/trusted. Just to also mention that this particular current beta build isn't great. Eg. · Zombies and loot aren't spawning consistently in some places. · There are sporadic problems when trying to refuel and repair vehicles. · Occasionally items are disappearing from backpacks/inventory after logging in/out. I'm sure there are some other annoyances too. It's still playable though, so the best thing is just to be patient and let's see how much of it the next build fixes.

    How long have you survived?

A fair question, but number of days by itself means nothing, because it keeps incrementing even if you don't play, and it doesn't take into account any difference in danger between high and low population servers, or play-style (scavenger/survivor versus PvP). I had a 40 day survival character representing 60 hours in-game on a server with 5-20 players (which got killed by a pine when trying to access a tent BTW >:( ). Whereas someone else may have a 10 day character, but which represents 80 hours in-game on a server with 45+ players with mostly aggressive PvP style. I hope the stand alone has better stats and a points algorithm which allows for more meaningful player comparisons and/or achievements.

    Small group?

It's not a clan though. Wireworld is a European private-hive server, although we do have a couple of Americans who play on it (they like to gear-up and raid camps whilst everyone else is asleep!). Most private servers provide Teamspeak, but usually the channels are empty, and if any groups are using it they usually don't want you to join them. Whereas in the Wireworld server, most players are in the teamspeak, and lone players can usually join a channel and informally team-up with other some other players.

Looking for people to play with

Sorry, which part didn't I read correctly? I told you where to find players without having to form your own group or join a clan. Then there's the fact that the server isn't busy all the time, so it is excellent for people who have just started playing. Further, it has been completely hacker-free for six months - if you've only been playing two days, maybe you don't yet appreciate how important it is to play on a good, private, whitelisted hive. I thought it was a potentially very helpful information for you and any other lone players who read this thread. If you're referring to the emphasis on using teamspeak on the server, then maybe you shouldn't have called it 'Chatspeak'? 'Chatspeak' is a style of text-messaging, but since that doesn't make sense for gaming I just assumed you were referring to some crappy piece of VOIP software (Eg. the software packaged with some webcams). If you actually didn't want to use Teamspeak, then perhaps you should have been more accurate rather than accusing me of not reading your post (which is one thing I hate <_< ).
