RIP GB Wireworld Vanilla DayZ Server - It was a lot of fun!
Dayzo replied to wireworld's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Effectively there were only two players roaming the server (there was a group of four online too, but they were loot-cycling one location). I was in some woods far from any hotspots and was midway through raiding the best tent that I had ever found, when suddenly Tickle shows up and shoots me in the back. At first I thought I was just extremely unlucky that the owner of the tent was online and visited it at that exact moment. However, later I discovered that it wasn't even his tent. So now I'm left wondering what is more likely - that the only two lone players on the server met in a secluded wooded area by complete coincidence, or that a new, unknown player on the server is using an ESP/map hack? That's not an allegation; just trying to get my head around the odds. He logged off a few minutes after shooting me, but he was still listed in Teamspeak for a while. My poke was ignored. Maybe someone should take a look at his stats and see if they're anomalous (Eg. kill/death ratio). Or maybe the odds of this happening are smaller than I imagine? [EDIT: Tickle says it wasn't him; he sounds like a nice guy and plays at Wireworld sometimes. That means the shooter logged off immediately, whilst I was pacing the living room swearing] -

Does anyone know who 'Tickle' is? I had a suspicious death tonight. [EDIT: Talked with Tickle, and he says it wasn't him. Seems like a nice guy BTW - visits Wireworld sometimes]. -

It's all going to be OK... I'm almost finished repairing the Wambulance that spawns at Berezino. -
Need a new server like "Gb wireworld"

Hmmph... can't embed a popcorn gif. <_< -
You need to state whether you're using steam or not, because the set-up and troubleshooting advice will be different. I'd suggest downloading DayZ Commander, and updating your Arma beta patch and your DayZ mod using its interface.

I think In the new patch you can assign a key to the 'stats monitor'. Go to options -> controls -> 'custom controls' in the drop down list -> assign a key to 'use action 20'. -
Let me guess - you were on a dock at one of the harbours. If yes, this is a known bug in the latest version. Avoid the docks.

Similar experience. Asus laptop, 8Gb RAM, i5 2.4Ghz, GeForce GT540M. 14 FPS @ 1280x720 in the countryside. Down to 9 FPS in the cities. The game looks like crap at that resolution, so I'm not willing to go any lower. Definitely a huge disadvantage when trying to spot & shoot players/zombies. I try to avoid PvP whenever possible, unless I see them first and they remain stationary. The frustrating thing is that the monitoring software shows my CPU at about 75% and the GPU at about 60%. I wish the game would use all the resources available to it.

Wireworld - came for the zombies, stayed for the drama. There's steady 15-30 people online most evenings, which is perfect for Chernarus in my opinion. Almost everyone is new-blood and running in small groups. Quite a few seem to be scavenging/repairing vehicles rather than just camping hotspots. 1761 seems like the best version for quite a while. File signatures are on, and BE seems to be doing OK. It's all good! I look forward to being shot by you all. As far as hacking and all that crap, the truth can't always be uncovered easily and admins only have a certain amount of time and skill at their disposal. I suggest the bottom line is this - if you seem to be causing more problems than you are solving, then you're going to be gone whether it's an injustice or not. -

Nope. 'Phil' on the server. Thanks man. Were they all sniping from the same tree or something? -
the elephant in the room, a ancient engine with poor MP FPS
Dayzo replied to monkie's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I get 14 FPS in the country and 9 in the cities, at a resolution which makes the beautiful map look like pixelated garbage, and I have to say that it is very frustrating for me to look at the resource manager and nVidia Inspector, and see the CPU and GPU at 30% and 50% respectively. It seems really stupid to have a game that doesn't use every single resource available to it. If both CPU and GPU were around 100%, then maybe I'd have enough frames to see what was going on instead of a slideshow?! -
This map will help you see where to go for loot, but it will also spoil much of the game for you too: http://www.dayzdb.com/map In the very beginning, I loved exploring without knowing where the loot was, just using the in-game map I got from a supermarket. However after a few weeks, once the novelty of that wore off, I looked at the dayzdb map before the game to decide where I wanted to go for particular loot, and then used only the in-game map to get there. These days I just have dayzdb open all the time on another monitor.

I agree with you, but the only thing I can do now really is grab a crappy rifle and sit in the dark in Cherno waiting for some half-kitted new-spawn with a chemlight to come close enough to kill them. I can't quite bring myself to do that. -

I tried just now with a FPS counter mod, and you're right - it worked. I got shot in the back two days ago from about 10 metres away in a forest in the middle of nowhere with twelve people on the server. I was thinking that it was incredibly unlucky to run past a tree that someone was strangely just sitting in, but now with what you've said I'm wondering whether it was someone using a mod of some sort. That would be sad. I hate the lack of NVGs and crash sites. When I got killed (see above) the only reason I was traversing in the forest on foot for two hours was to try to find a clan camp to see if they had a spare pair. I even changed my TS name to 'will swap my ATV for NVG'. The reason I need a pair so badly is that I currently only get 30 minutes playing on weekday evenings before I'm forced to log off again due to the dark. -
Go on the DayZ commander forum - loads of people are having issues with the last three or four releases. If I were to guess your issue, I'd say it's because the new advertising code in DZC is being treated as a virus and automatically deleted. I had to add the entire DZC folder to my exceptions list. AVG, Avira and Kaspersky are the ones mentioned on the forum. However, there have been other issues, so you might find it's something else.

That's also what I hate about DayZ though. Yesterday I ran by a tree in the middle of nowhere, and some idiot was just sitting in it doing god knows what. I got shot in the back from ten metres. No skill, no stalking, no work involved at all - just blind luck (or maybe a teleport - you can never be sure, even on a private hive). I lost about 20 hours of gear I'd scavenged, and for me it is too much work to replace it. I'm too tired of all that now. I made a half-arsed attempt to get a larger backpack from deerstands, but after twenty or thirty fails, I'm too bored to continue. Especially if it can be gone in an instant through no fault of my own. I could hang around in a hotspot with a shotgun waiting to ambush a geared player, but really that's not my style of play at all - I doubt I'd enjoy that.

The only times I can log-on recently, it's either getting dark or already too dark to play. I haven't seen a crash site in a week (not that they're much use now anyway), and the few tents/vehicles I've raided only had starter kit in them. Any tips on how to get NVG? I have an ATV to swap if anyone has spare NVG. -
So that's what it's all about...

Find a good private hive (Eg. wireworld or balota buddies; anywhere with good admin), choose a teamspeak channel and speak to other lonewolves on the server - just idle chat. After a while you'll naturally 'team up' with like-minded people; you'll end up with a few people you know, and you can meet up with them occasionally for short 'missions' (like repairing a vehicle or setting an ambush). -
Zombie behaviour is hard to control. The v175 betas had wildly different zombies in each build. The v1751 release is actually quite good in comparison to some of the builds. v1752 is being tested right now, and the zombies are a bit easier in the current build (but that might change in two days time). In addition to adjusting the normal parameters, some code was added yesterday which decreases the chance of you being seen when crouching/prone. Also, the line of code which made a zombie occasionally randomly spot you was removed.

I dropped frame rate too. I was getting 14 FPS in the country and 9 FPS in the cities. After the patch I was getting 9 in the country and 5 in the cities. The only thing that helped was dropping the resolution down to 1280 x 720.

[Edit: The problems described in this thread were removed before the final release of v175] For those who posted in this thread since v175 was released, the thread was never about the v1750 or v1751 public release. It was a warning about stuff implemented near the end of the v175 BETA testing. The 'features' which made it impossibly difficult for single players to regain health after injuries were taken out before v1750 was released. Single players are being completely f***ed over in the latest v175 betas. Basically, whilst pairs/teams can blood bag each other for instant health when hurt whilst scavenging, fighting, repairing a vehicle, refuelling a chopper, etc, single players are f***ed because you cannot now use meat to reliably regain blood. Not only has the meat been hugely devalued in the current beta, in the next beta R4Z0R49 has made knives, hatchets and matches have a high failure rate too. The game is being made much harder for the people who play alone, and yet the changes won't affect anyone who plays in a team. Granted these changes may not make it into the final v175 release, but the fact that they're even being tested is ridiculous in itself. The thing I'm most angry at is that R4Z0R49 doesn't even recognise the issue and even thinks blood is harder to use than meat. If you're a single player, I'd urge you to go tell him how you feel: https://github.com/R...ZMod/issues/233 Edit1: R4Z0R49 deleted my github posts because they were abusive. Totally guilty - I've spent a couple of hundred hours testing and playing every v175 beta, and it makes me extremely angry as a single player to be treated so thoughtlessly. Edit2: After a day to cool off, there's sort-of an apology here.

As I've said several times now: THIS THREAD WAS ABOUT v175 BETA. THE CHANGES WERE TAKEN OUT BEFORE THE v1751 PUBLIC RELEASE. Also, you can't read one line in a changelog and then categorically state that these are good/bad changes. I'm afraid the changelog gives no indication of how a feature has been implemented or its impact on gameplay. It needs to be tested by actually playing it, before an opinion can be properly formed. I understand that many players want survival to be harder (I'm one of them), but preventing players from regaining health in the way that it was implemented in the beta, was not the right way to do it, because it made the game (impossibly) difficult only for lone players. If the game is made harder, then it has to be for every player across the board. And know that the beta I complained about didn't just make it slightly more difficult to use meat to regain health - it was nearly impossible. If a lone player got seriously injured (very, very easy because the zombies in that patch did a lot of damage on each hit), then basically the only option was to find a safe place to suicide and run back to your body, which by anyone's standards is a broken game. The main problem with health is that pairs/teams have access to an over-powered feature that single players cannot access. If bloodbags were taken out completely, so that everyone had to hunt to regain health, then the meat system could be adjusted to be more difficult.

If you've got Radeon, one tip that I haven't seen much on the forums is to use DayZ Commander's 'Force Direct3D9' option. I tried it with my nVidia GT540m (laptop), and the FPS/smoothness improved noticeably, but some textures got messed up so I had to disable it again. The only other setting that made any difference was setting the 3D rendering to the low settings. I play with 1920x1080 (interface) and 1280x720 (3D render). Looks like absolute crap and I still get less than 20 FPS, but at least it isn't a slideshow. A lot of people suggest selecting 'high' settings so that 'your GPU handles it instead of your CPU', but that just decreases FPS for me so I've got everything set to 'disabled'. You've got a huge disadvantage if you play at low FPS and with blocky/blurred graphics, because to spot anything it has to be moving. The most annoying thing for me is that everyone else on Teamspeak can see smoking crash sites hundreds of metres before it displays on my screen; I shudder to think how many I may have run past.

I've just changed the title of the thread. For those who posted in this thread since v175 was released, the thread was never about the v1750 or v1751 public release. It was a warning about stuff implemented near the end of the v175 BETA testing. The 'features' which made it impossibly difficult for single players to regain health after injuries were taken out before v1750 was released. Sure, it's still unfair that pairs/teams have access to a mechanic (blood bagging) that single players can't access. But at least loners can recover from injuries again. The public release was a massive improvement on the direction the beta was taking just before it was finished, at least where single play was concerned. And I'm pleased to say that v1752 is being beta tested now, and there's some great stuff going into it at the moment, as well as fixes for the stuff that's buggy/broken in v1751.
