Non stop game crashing getting worse
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to cenobite (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Post your computer specs. Do a file integrity check on DayZ through Steam. Open up GPU-Z, CPU-Z and hardware monitor and try to isolate whats happening when the games running. Try to lower your settings drastically, etc. -
How to stimulate an Emergent Economy in DayZ - discussion
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to Roshi (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
If you and associates want to establish your own trading post, I'm sure you won't be the only ones, it's bound to happen in a post apocalyptic universe. However, the largest portion of the market will be between player A and player B with no middlemen. There will of course be a niche for middlemen to use as trusted parties, particularly when dealing with more valueable items. It's really no different then the Eve Online market system, which I enjoy. In the end, the entire market is shaped by the players. (I think I recall Dean mentioning his admiration of that market system as well). My only gripe, I guess, is any mention of, or suggestion to the DayZ team to implement an economy within the game. Any attempt to put in any kind of marketing system in the game goes against a true post apocalyptic environment. -

Again, money, such as paper bills we use daily, will have no use in a post apocalyptic society. Bullets, however, would. The problem with bullets, especially right now in early developement, is that they aren't uncommon. Once something becomes harder and harder to get, it's value then increases. As it stands right now, using bullets for any type of currency, imho, would equate to using handfuls of dirt, it also doesn't help matters that the game is nowhere near developed enough to consider the beginning of any kind of free market to blossom. Not to mention, as it is alpha, there is also the constant looming hive wipes, so there is no point to attaching a value to anything at the moment, once it is stated there will no longer be anymore hive wipes the market will easily begin to develop without much effort, and it will be glorious. Of course, at that point, there will be so much more in the game, crafting, base building, etc....as I said before, in that type of environment, a free market easily comes along with it without needing to make one up yourself. -

There will be extensive trading amongst players as the game develops more and more. We saw it in the mod, we'll see it even moreso in the standalone, as the amount of items and things you will be able to do in the SA will be far greater then what the mod did. We'll have all kinds of things for crafting, all kinds of things for base building, weapons, weapon attachments, and a whole host of things I'm sure we're not yet fully aware of. There won't be any need for a market system as players will be bartering and trading amongst themselves for all of these goods, more and more, as the game becomes much more indepth. This is helped greatly by the public hive architecture, of course, as it allows players to freely trade from 1 server to the next. There will be items, in game, that we will be lucky if we ever see. Rocket has said there will be some items so rare, there will only be 1 or just a few PER HIVE. So you can pretty much guarantee we will see some extensive trading amongst players without needing to do much beside introduce and maintain item rarity across the entire hive. The players will do the rest amongst themselves without much else. So basically...there is no need to introduce money or monetary type items, in a true apocalypse, money has no value. What has value are items YOU NEED to survive. What you have of value is only measured by how much someone else wants/needs it, and vice versa. This is the only real type of system DayZ should, could, and will have. -
Do a file integrity check on DayZ from Steam. It's possible the audio file for consuming that piece of food is corrupt and causing the crash. Or possibly the animation itself, either way, an integrity check should be the best possible fix.

Server hoppers deserve to have their character reset daily imo.

There have been 2-3 updates since the game was released. Not to mention, the holidays also hit shortly after release, Rocket and the team deserve a little more patience then some people want to give them.

How To Be A Pro @ DayZ Standalone
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to BennyDawg's topic in New Player Discussion
Regurgetating information that is either very common knowledge or has been stated in the basics of every other 'guide' doesn't make this a guide, just a repost and contributes nothing of value, unfortunately. Ultimately, it seems to me at least, you post this simply as a lead up to advertise your YouTube channel. I hate when people do that, personally. I gave you some free downvotes for the trouble though. -
What to do if robbed by proper bandits
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to autoloon's topic in General Discussion
Ok so basically I won't hold anyone up anymore. Back to simply KOSing, taking what I need, and making sure I hide the corpse or use it as bait. No problem. -
This needed a thread? Someone's mom gave them access to the computer at a little too young of an age imo.

The reason why i kill on sight now !!
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to africanhungergames's topic in General Discussion
Next time, give them just the gun first. If they don't immediately point and you hear clicks (at which point, I would shoot them in the face), then cautiously give them a little ammo right before you depart. -
I dropped 5 coupled 5.56 mags for space, I think you've got a ways to go before you can talk about "the loots".

You Didn't Fix Spawns You Made Them Worse....
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to 13celticsboy's topic in General Discussion
If you're too stupid to get off the coast, expect to die repeatedly. It shouldn't matter where you spawn, your first goal should be to go inland. I would prefer Solnichy over Elektro/Cherno any day of the week, Berezino is one of the best spots to gear up. So many people are hung up on Balota, it's like watching sheep run towards wolves, then they complain about it.... -
There are no good Dayz SA youtubers?
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Sacriel, FrankieonPC, and Eirebornfenix are the only 3 youtubers you want to watch. Everyone else (especially Rhinocrunch, what a retard) are just absolutely terrible at the game. -
I keep seeing people say x item is rare after I have seen 10 of them. I bet very few people have seen or held the walkie talkie yet...I carried one for awhile but eventually dropped it.
-
I wouldn't put alot of faith in that list. I already see issues such as the calorie listing for canteen/water bottle.... Medina(sp) has some great videos on YouTube about the real value of the foods he has confirmed so far. The est of that list above (the cooked stuff) can't be confirmed until they're patched in anyways, so there's little point speculating until we see what they have when it's put in game.
-
Vehicles should be rare and involve scavenging off multiple vehicles to get one fully functional. The people who seem to want them, in my opinion, to be common are generally the careless types or lesser experienced that die quickly.
-
EVERY server is a PVP server. Those that have 'PVP' in the title are just putting it in the title to attract more players to their server.
-
Except what's wrog in your example is that Arma specifically allows people to customize the game as they see fit, it's part of the EULA that says it's ok. DayZ does NOT allow customizing it as it is against the EULA specifically because the game is designed to be a certain way, and nothing else. There are some things Dean likes he hasn't put in the game because the community didn't, and there are things he dislikes but has ingame because the community does.

Yes it is.....
-
Great job eliminating those pver's Jonesy, have my beans!
-
Of course not. Now if you want to go make your own game and rent out your own server....feel free. Edit - I am one of MANY that will join PVE servers ecsplicitely to murder every single person I see.

T3N RDS no good when crouching or proning
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Seems like all it would take to fix this is a simple adjustment to the vertical placement of vests on characters. I checked again and vests do sit abnormally high on characters. haven't posted this in the bugs, if it goes unnoticed or unchanged soon then I will. -
T3N RDS no good when crouching or proning
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
When I say ballistic vest, I am referring to the kevlar vest that stands straight up. I have noticed the problem a little before with assault vests, but the ballistic one caused a very noticeable problem lastnight as it caused a team mate to die while I was unable to fire on someone downhill without standing. So, if people are confirming this occurs with their assault vests, I am also confirming it occurs with the tactical/ballistic one as well. The problem is most noticeable when you need to fire downhill while prone/crouched, needing to fire overhead or high up doesn't have the clipping occur as much. -
T3N RDS no good when crouching or proning
Phantasm (DayZ) replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I had this problem yesterday and confirmed, today, that my ballistic vest (not my backpack) was causing this clipping issue. So it is definitely female character + vest related, but I'm also confirming that the ballistic vest causes the same issue. Kind of glad to see I'm not the only one whose had this issue.
