    No healthy

Seriously, watch the above videos Merino made. You won't get healthy simply from a single stomach full, it takes time and proper management.

    Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.114008

I think you should feel embarassed and shamed for not being able to comprehend what an alpha entails. There are alot of other thigns ready, content is slowly brought out as the bugs with the current content is worked through, thats how the game will develop. It's much easier to gather information from 100,000 players vs 20.

Run faster with your fists out.

You're a bit late to the party, everyone knows about this.

    No healthy

Wrong, food does. And no, I have not had a problem ever reaching healthy/healing through consuming food and water. I am always, constantly, either healthy or healing.

Expansion, wut? I need an explanation for the expansion.

Wrong. When you use the hotbar for an item, it always selects the 'first' one in your inventory, so just make sure the first one in your inventory is an empty one if you're wanting to refill. THen when that one is refilled, swap in another empty canteen to be the first one. I keep all my canteens in my vest or pants so they're easy to switch around. WHen you have multiple canteens, after you have emptied the first one by drinking it through the hotbar, you'll notice when you try to drink again, it is selecting the first one and saying it's empty, even though you still have full ones. You just have to swap the empty one over with a full one so the first one being selected by the hotbar is the proper one. The hotbar will always select the first one of an item if you have multiple in your characters storage slots.

    Building Bases

It will likely be underground type structures. Something that doesn't really affect the surrounding landscape or is noticeable, unless you look closely and can spot the inconspicuous entrance. This can easily be done with zoning, where the 'base' has it's own personal cell, the exact same thing you see in games when you're zoning into another area. However, Rocket has said he want's to avoid using seperate cells if possible. The underground base idea would afford players some security for hiding their gear, while still allowing other players with a keen eye and willing to search an area very thoroughly to locate underground bunkers to raid them, but they wouldn't be easily visible like an above ground structure. Above ground type structures may also be a possibility, but I believe Dean said he wanted to avoid players cluttering up the landscape, so at the moment it's still kind of up in the air.

What is the point of guns?

Actually what he posted was correct. Many people suck in games, they just refuse to admit someone is better than they are.

What desktop should i purchase to run DayZ SA?

I would very highly recommend you search for Linus Tech Tips on YouTube, he has a pretty good build guide that really breaks everything down and explains things thoroughly. He's a very topnotch pc YouTuber and doesn't hide his feelings about stuff, if he feels something is bad, he just says it. Edit - Here you go, http://www.youtube.com/user/LinusTechTips/videos

    Lets talk about the community

In a post apocalyptic society such as DayZ, there would be less killing irl then in the game, I would agree. HOWEVER, when were talking in terms of in game, which is what this is.....YES, I expect every single person I come across to kill me, without a doubt. It's very simple, really. What happens if I'm wrong? Nothing, I was overprepared and walked away from the encounter alive. If I was right, I still walk away alive. Now...if I expected everyone I saw ingame to be friendly, how do you think that would turn out? Pretty simple scenario there, huh. Sure I'll be right some of the time, but when I'm wrong, it will make a much deeper impact because I had some inherent faith that the person I encountered was being truthful, and when you emotionally invest in a person that what he is saying is the truth, and are then let down by betrayal, it hurts much much more, doesn't it? So, like i said before, the killing in game is not a problem, it's a part of the game you will have to either adapt to and accept, or don't adapt to and die. If you expect the worse and it doesn't happen, you are relieved, if you expect the best, you will be let down every_single_time. That's pretty much a basic rule in life. People that have problems playing a game where death can happen in many different forms, not just other players, then complain because they die.....in a game BASED ON SURVIVAL, is just the absolute biggest irony. *This is the simplest way of explaining why the whole "omg he killed me" whining in a game based on survival is absolutely hilarious to me, I am constantly under the feeling that I am being hunted, just as you should be when I am hunting you*

How to stimulate an Emergent Economy in DayZ - discussion

Money in general is backed by governments, in a post apocalyptic society, there is no government. Markets will revert back to simple barter and trading systems, with items having inherent values depending on rarity and their need to those who want it.

    Lets talk about the community

The thing about a simulation game is that it tends to bring out realistic character traits in people. I think you may be overestimating a human's moral when all societal punishments are thrown out the window. It's also a game, so people will also tend to do what they couldn't do irl as well, it's a combination of both. Not only the above, but when the zed numbers are ramped up and much more content is introduced in the game, it takes about 1-2 hours before you currently reach the "end game" right now. What do you think there is left to do when you reach that point currently? Have a little fun, of course!

Just to clarify, it doesn't matter to me if you like or dislike "kos" (god that term annoys me), but when people start demanding the basic mechanic of a game be changed because it doesn't suit them, that just shows me they lack any real ability to adapt to an environment. If a zombie apocalypse happened, there would be people killing others for what they had, and yes there would be people killing others just for the joy of it. DayZ is a simple situation where you either adapt or die.

Yes, when it comes down to whether I survive or you do, I would shoot you in the face without hesitation. I interact with people just as much as I go hunting for people when I need supplies. When humanity is thrown into a black, dark room, with no rules and basically told survive by any means necessary....you would be surprised to what means a person will go to protect himself or his family. I don't think I would be as surprised, just because I know what I would do in an apocalypse, and it breaks all current societal norms. Perhaps I just appreciate the human psyche aspect of an apocalypse enough to know that, when there are no rules, people will go mad. I know in any game I play, I have no problem taking it one step further then the next person, simply because it will give me an advantage. The people who have a problem with me taking an advantage over them are generally mad they didn't take it before I did. I also denied someone a kill in games if I knew that kill would reward them somehow, if I can deny them the rewards, either by suiciding or somehow negating their effort, I will. It's always funny when people talk about 'honor' in a video game at that point, always makes me giggle. They're just basically aggitated that I would go out of my way to deny them any reward. So, I think it's just a matter of, how far are you willing to take an advantage over someone else, if it means you will come out ahead? Easy answer for me.

How to stimulate an Emergent Economy in DayZ - discussion

You kind of were in the previous post, don't take offense to my statement, I'm simply stating that, for all we know, ammo could be 10x rarer then what it is now. That's kind of the whole issue at hand, without knowing true rarity values, it's just that much more difficult and speculating doesn't lead to any concrete results.

The majority of people who whine about KOS are the ones who only played games that had little maps in the corner showing where all the enemies were and have no concept of needing to pay attention to their surroundings.

^ Can't please everyone... Any time a change is made to the game, it's generally made for the better, and Dean has been much much much more concerned with what the community thinks about such changes then most developers out there. And he agrees enough with allowing minorities have the small changes their way enough that he allows things such as 1st person only type servers, so the above whine is pointless.
  19. Phantasm (DayZ)

    Lets talk about the community

There is no "fix" to KOS. The game is being built on realism, if you got shot irl do you think you'd have a popup window to confirm if it's ok to let xxx person pvp with you? Give me a break.

How to stimulate an Emergent Economy in DayZ - discussion

Trying to set any approxmiate value on anything right now is pointless. All it takes is moving a decimal value over in the programming to make something ultra common or ultra rare. So until the game is much more developed and we see more of a totally fleshed out loot table and what other things we can do in game, it's pure speculation but there's nothing wrong with being as prepared as possible for the future. Fwiw, I'm quite certain Dean has stated that ammunition will likely be more rare in the future. All it takes is moving 1 decimal value and things can seriously change in a game.
  22. Phantasm (DayZ)

    Lets talk about the community

It's not up to the community though, it's up to the individual player to enjoy the game as he sees fit. When you begin to dictate how a community should or should not play the game as a whole, you're telling others how to play the game based on how you would enjoy it more (if more people rp'd). So basically, as I said before, there is not a problem with the community, the problem only lies with the person if they are not enjoying the game to its full potential. There are plenty of people out there who play the game by their own methods and enjoy it just as much as the next guy, who plays it completely different.
  23. Phantasm (DayZ)

    Lets talk about the community

RPers don't have a problem in the game, and I wasn't insinuating you were trying to tell me how to play. The only way to reach a games full potential is for YOU to enjoy it the way YOU want, period, nothing else. When you start trying to get everyone to enjoy it as much as they can, to its full potential, it's simply just not possible. There's a very simple saying, you can't please everyone, everywhere, 100% of the time. It's simply just not possible.
  24. Phantasm (DayZ)

    Lets talk about the community

There is no issue to deal with. No matter what style of play YOU like or enjoy in a game, someone, somewhere, will dislike it or believe you should play the game the way he wants you to. The more people whine, the more I enjoy killing. Knowing that when the blood comes gushing out of a corpse, somewhere, someone is crying their little eyes out over digital pixels, makes me smile. Don't get attached to your gear, this isn't WoW. The greater majority of the community already knows this, you are only seeing a vocal minority cry about their inability to comprehend what an alpha is. The greater community and the DayZ dev team have dealt with this since the mod came out, and will continue to drink the delicious tears of the whiners to fuel the beast that is at the core of DayZ itself. Neither the community nor the Dev team will allow any of the true core features of DayZ be changed by a vocal minority, there isn't an issue to be concerned about....

How to stimulate an Emergent Economy in DayZ - discussion

Oh I know exactly what you mean, and yes there will always be demand for trust in a game where trust itself is a valueable commodity, we see this especially in Eve online. Like I said, my biggest concern is quelling any kind of suggestion that the dev team implement some type of ingame economy, and I'm sure Dean will wholeheartedly agree, the only type of economy that works in a post apocalyptic world is the one that is developed by the post apocalytic citizens.
