What is your honest opinion on the future of DayZ
pjano replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
The devs should hire some more people with the money they got. But at the same time they need to remember what actually made the mod fun: 1. A limited number of highly contested areas such as stary sobor military tents and NWAF which gave a sense of being in danger and risk. You were always 1 shot away from death. 2. Vehicles and tents which gave the game depth - especially including boats and chopper 3. Zombies which you used to literally have to crawl passed to avoid alerting. Night time. Dark atmosphere and sound effects 4. A variety of items including stuff like barbed wire fences, NVGs, a variety of sniper rifles and other rare loot (e.g. mountain dew) 5. Seemingly endless forests which you could get lost in and stumble across random bases. Unfortunately I think they took out this stuff and made some mistakes which I'm not sure can/will be fixed. The main advantage SA still has against the copycat games is that is it still a massively larger map. Maybe I already played the DayZ formula to death in the mod but I'm not gonna bother playing until they fix up this stuff or modders do some interesting things -
These sounds are so good! Why haven't the devs implemented this yet??

First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
pjano replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
they should allow 3pp but it should be a close-high locked reverse camera so u can just check what you look like and if you are in cover. -
just play Day Z Exile or something like that in Arma 3. Quite a lot of people play it and it is basically another flavour of the early Day Z mods but with better graphics and Arma 3 engine

The Psychology of Understanding Alpha
pjano replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yeah as said in OP, comes down to the fact that millions of dollars were thrown at the game and they stripped out all the main features out of the early mod (and are slowly adding them back in). People had high expectations based on the mod. -
I cant help but feel that this whole game got wrecked by the early access model to be honest...

Am I the only one who thinks the mod had better atmosphere?

100% agree with HandgunHero, CornProducts and Bororm -
anything that prevents people abusing 3rd person is good in the long run
-
Sounds like it's starting to get to the early mod standard
-
IMO they should just change it back to the status durations of the early mod and make food extremely rare (as in 2 items of food per town)

Could I please make the suggestion to be able to interact with dropped backpacks to set persistence on? That way randomly dropped backpacks won't accumulate and people who actually want to store stuff will keep their stuff. If the 'persistence on' stuff hasnt been interacted with after 4 weeks then it could be wiped half the fun with storage is seeing how long your stuff lasts without getting found xD

just play it cool, have some balls. If the guy doesn't respond or seems hostile then go your own ways. If the guy seems a bit aloof or has long pauses then he probably has friends in teamspeak
-
you wouldnt be able to distinguish a ghillie in grass from 300m away anyway so it is kind of good that the draw distance is limited
-
anything with 15 or higher and you basically control the server - this will become more evident when they add in more vehicles and persistence

Funniest moment in SA so far - was when 5 fresh spawns decided to gang up and chase after my friend and I on the coast. We ran about 100m down the road while a couple of them kept yelling "kill the Ak guy!" or something like that. Then he turned around and killed all 5 of them with his drum mag. Second funniest thing that happened was when one of my friends and I were camping in the elektro church with the door locked (the door is unbreakable). Some guy started taunting us and was trying to glitch through the door by running into it. So I walked up to the door, poked my shotgun through the door and shot him dead (and blood went everywhere as he fell to the ground).
