    Heli crash sites gone?

    I equipped it then pressed space to bring them up, but right click does didly-squat, as does B and left click.

    so when is the move to the new engine?

    Its still Arma 2.5 - The engine we're using now is "infusion" and has been since the standalone was released, the only difference is now its got a name and looks better on the patch notes.

    The heck did I just see at NWAF?

    me and my friend were on last night at NWAF, and he was also doing the crazy arm jingle - looked fine on his screen though. We stalked a pair going around the hangars and ATC but didn't engage. We didn't come across any loan wolves that might have been you though.

    Not new, returning...what's changed?

    Main things are: -Spawn on East not south -Cherno and Elektro are now safe for the most part -Most weapons are now modular so you can customise their look and usage -Weapons can be breach loaded, otherwise you need to find a magazine. You need to reload the magazine manually -Items are found at varying quality levels. Currently only scopes and melee appear to have any detrimental effects associated with being in poor condition -Inventory is completely different with the introduction of clothes increasing the carrying capacity -Damage received/dealt is based on the ammo type but clothes and items in them clothes can offset the damage by absorbing these items. -Hunting, crafting and fishing available too. But with beans and soda in every house there's little need to try it.

    Hacker caught teleporting

    coincidence. Check bottom left, xxx player losing connectivity explains while the player is desyncingin front of you. The fact you died was another player overwatching from same point (its not exactly the most imaginative sniper position), probably watching the same guy you are, then moved down to the town to take him out when couldn't get the clean shot, then stumbled upon you. Simplest answer is probably the correct one.

    Walkie talkies removed in the new patch?

    I picked one up yesterday at NWAF on .46 then promptly died to another player 30 seconds later. Cursed I tell ya!

    Im no merica'n gun nut. But wouldn't you need subsonic ammo for use with any weapon with equipped with a suppressor too? i mean if we're getting all anal over specific ammo types being in game?

    Wasn't upstairs at NEAF was it? somebody loaded right in front me and took an axe to the spine, donating me a full spec AKM the process.

    machete i find useless against Zeds, go find yourself an axe. Tend to go down with a single swing that way.

    We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

    How about this. When you kill say 5+ people you start triggering Wanted posters appearing in random places. These wanted posted are updated every hour, but only when the bandit is online. The poster is dynamic (refreshes hourly) contains a picture of the bandit, his name, number of kills, and very vague description of his location which is correct at the time of refresh. "XXXX was last seen near Cherno" The more kills the bandit gets the more posters appear around the map. When you kill someone whose on a wanted poster they leave a (trophy) little piece of paper that summarizes the bandit on their body. This can then be added to your inventory or posted to your social media for some epeen. Could even have a sheriffs badge automatically apply to the person if they collect 5+ trophies. This way bandits get prestige seeing themselves becoming famous. While also encouraging the hunting of bandits. Thoughts?

    DayZ always crashes when I leave a server

    Mine crashes too on exit. Im using an old i5 and 6870 Crossfire setup if thats any help? Also acquired my first AKM last night. Got ladder sponged earlier in the day and rage quit. Came back later that night on a low pop server to reequip, was 2 people including myself. Was doing NEAF in pitch black, turned around while upstairs to see some guy, i asumme logging/hopping in behind me facing the other direction so planted my axe between his shoulders. Guy probably never saw it past the loading screen. So new-spawn to AKM with Everything, bipod, PSO flashlight Drum mag in about 12minutes including my run from the coast. Got to be a record right?

    Im okay with the shared ammo types we have now. You've got to draw the line at some point between game and reality.

    Quick question on night time

    problem is Dayz is TOO dark at night, there should be at least some ambient light from the moon and stars which doesn't really exist. Until this is included the only option is to up the gamma to navigate. I mean upping the gamma doesn't really give you awesome elite vision at night were you can organise crack hits on players from great ranges. It merely stops you running against a low fence without realising you're not moving for 10 minutes. < true story.

    Stopping power?

    Not sure if troll. But stopping power normally refers to the damage dealt with a single shot/burst to put a target out of action. IRL FYI Its why the police use hollow point ammo. They want the person to go down and stay down without too much over penetration. While the military use full metal jackets (mainly 5.56mm - These rounds tend to pass straight through soft tissue regularly without major internal injury) as having someone injured is preferred as its drain on both staff, equipment and morale (+ hollow points are banned).
  19. Adding helo's are a mistake. I think some need to just install BF4 and be done with it. If you are going to add flying vehicles, perhaps something like a paraglider, noisey, slow and vunerable

    Vehicles & how I think they should work ingame

    Am i the only one that doesn't actually want vehicles. When you can traverse any point of the map, within minutes with near impunity it reduces the scale, and defies the survival element of the game. It also drastically unbalances the game in favour of the minority who can skip between crash sites and airfields in a moments notice sweeping up the loot which ultimately results in bored top tier users resorting to PVP for entertainment, instead of survival. If you want a project to work on within a team, perhaps base building or fortification would be better as its advantages are limited to a static location.

    I agree. I dont want noob tubes thanks. If they insist, i would like to see heavy stat reductions for the attached weapons, accuracy etc Persoanlly i'd remove the M4 too. Not sure whats thats doing in a eastern block/european country. Weapons i'd have instead. AK family, 47, 74, M etc PPSh-41SVT-40Mosin CarbineSVDA Civilian hunting rifle like the CZ

    How about anyone within 50meters of the spawn point gets an audible clue that someone is incoming?

    What is Persistent Loot going to look like?

    You got 3 options, player side, server side, or hive side. Player side is just too easy to hack, server side is what we used to have with the old mod. But I think hive side would be much better, as mentioning spawning in with the player. This way those scooping up all the decent loot on low-pop servers to then grief on a high pop servers have more to risk.
  25. Just picked the standalone back up. Personally I feel if they introduced night vision aids it should be limited to attachable scopes only, not goggles. And i have no problem with 50cals, so longs as its bolt action single shot and each round requires its own slot. I'd almost be tempted to make it iron sights only too, making it impossible for sniping other players, instead make it only practical for anti-vehicle/material.
