Have not had much luck any where for magazines except for 7.62mm boxes. Which don't fit in my mosin :/ I had a 30 round and 20 round 'CMAG' for my previous M4 but I died so I lost them...and then I haven't found any magazine at all for the FNX. But could someone tell me what ammunition the Mosin uses? Also, what are the random piles of handgun ammo for? Any guns that we haven't found? All I've managed to find is about 50 M4s, 2 Mosins, 5 FNXs and a limitless supply of axes.

Why does everyone I run into kill me?
dulix11 replied to capt. beefsteak's topic in New Player Discussion
I have run into a heap of people, and only 1 has tried killing me. He fired about 15 rounds from his M4 and missed all but twice. Then we stopped and tried to converse but I died later on. I always try to be friendly, anyone I happen to run into I press capslock and announce 'friendly! dont hurt me!' but hide behind doors just in case they try anything funny. Today I met a guy in Elektro with nothing at all, just the T-shirt and jeans. I must've scared him off with the axe I was carrying... -
Don't use your fists, if that's what you are doing. Use a 'splitting axe', 'fire axe' or crowbar, one hit kills. Also, don't pay attention to your crosshair dot. It is useless for melee weapons, wherever you swing the weapon is where you will hit. You need to time your strikes properly too. As the zombie gets closer, swing and you should smack him down in the first hit.

Find servers that have almost all of the player slots occupied. They will almost always be daytime.

Mikhail Kalashnikov has died... add an AK variant in his memory.
dulix11 replied to OfficerFriendly (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
^^^ this The Mosin, M4 and the handgun that I can't remember are all the firearms I've found. AK-47, M16, double barreled shotguns, single barreled shotguns, .22s, M1 carbines, M1 Garand, SKS, Skorpion.... -
Like Konna said, the items aren't that rare. I've found an ACOG, about 4 bipods, 50000 military vests, ballistic helmets... They were fun.

If you can stand my girlish giggling and somewhat muffled webcam mic, it should be quite enjoyable. Ignore the general laughter and excitement between me and my friend, it was my first SA game, the first time me and him had met up, and the first player interaction. also i know some of you will hate me for the gamma and brightness abuse, but hey, how else was I meant to get a decent picture out of this?
-
i think this needs to be shown around a lot more.
-
All of my player interactions have been pretty cool. Even guys with hatchets and M4s are pretty friendly. I ran into 2 guys at the Balota airfield and they both ignored me, I shat myself and pressed Caps Lock as hard as I could: 'friendly friendly dont hurt me' I've been shot dead once, I think. That was when I had 2 payday masks...and trust me, the gunman was a very, very bad shooter. He fired about 15 M4 shots from a distance of about 5 feet, and I think I was hit twice. I haven't killed anyone yet.
-
Just something to keep in mind...the maps only show seperate areas of the country. My friend had a map that showed 'E Chernarus' (eastern chernarus) and I found a map that only showed 'SE Chernarus'. I know they spawn in the back of cars, houses and maybe supermarkets.

15kg with just 1 magazine that is. 1 magazine containing only 5 bullets. An AS50 without sights or magazines weighs around 12kg. So if 1 fully loaded magazine is installed, and weighs ~3kg, you'll have to choose. Is it going to be bullets for your OP gun, or is it going to be medical supplies, food, water, maps and nav items, other sidearms, silent weapons (axe)...
-
This is silly. What kind of military uses AS50s to fight unarmed, unarmoured, brain dead zombies? Its like using an RPG to breach a door.
-
Now you are just running circles around me with irrelevant statements. I'm not going to argue any more, but I can gaurantee you there will not be any .50cals back in the game.
-
- there is a difference between an assault rifle, and a high powerd sniper rifle. - heaps of people head to the big cities, because they're on the coast and easy to get to. Who would want to spawn on the coast and spend an hour walking to Zeleno or Stary? - The same can be said for an AS50. The difference is, the M4 is a lot easier to handle. - Thats not the point. I am saying that you want AS50s because there is military camps, so that would 'fit the setting'. So if there is military camps, why not add APCs and tanks because that fits the purpose of a military camp too, doesn't it? Also, even if there is army camps around the country, what kind of military uses .50 caliber sniper rifles against unarmoured zombies?
-
An M4A1 is very different to a .50 caliber sniper rifle. .50 caliber sniper rifles won't be added because - they don't fit the enviroment, (the AS50 nor the M107 is a Russian weapon), - they are waaayyyy too OP (and no, getting sniped doesn't mean you suck, what about all the looters who are minding their own buisness in Elektro when someone pops them from 900m away for no reason? They aren't even a threat and they get killed) - no average person can carry around a 15kg anti-material rifle and operate it with no previous training - just because there are military bases doesn't give them the incentive to add .50cal sniper rifles. Why not add jets, tanks, helicopters and APCs too?
-
Also, since when can an average joe lug a rifle like this around and operate correctly without breaking his arm in the process of firing it?

Currently, alot of people don't like the way broken bones are healed simply with morphine. I agree that the healing process should be more complex and time-consuming for such a painful injury. So here is my idea: You get shot in the leg, or fall onto the ground and break your leg. In order to heal it, you need a splint and some morphine, only to stop the pain and make healing slightly quicker. ALSO the broken bone icon should be red to start with, and then slowly turning green to indicate the bone is healed. So applying morphine or a splint will make the icon greener, until it is healed. Splints: These would be rare and found mainly in hospitals and military buildings. When you have a broken bone you apply this to the affected limb and it will heal it to 50%. see below You can also craft splints, but these are less durable and have a chance to fail. They will also heal broken bones much slower than proper ones. Crafting Splints: To craft a splint you will need: Wood Sticks (Which could be made from using a hatchet with a wood pile) and a bandage OR clothing. This would destroy that piece of clothing and be used in the splint. How to heal broken bones: Apply a splint to the affected limb and then wait. A timer will appear under the broken bone icon indicating how long you have left until the bone is healed. Using painkillers will slightly decrease time needed to heal, and using morphine will greatly reduce it, but this cannot be applied unless a splint is in use. When the bone is fixed, you can remove the splint (crafted ones cannot be used twice) and go on your merry way. Bone Conditions: This meter shows you what condition your bone is in: 0% -20% = Broken, if it is a leg you will have to crawl everywhere, you can stand however you can't walk or vault. If your arm is broken, you cannot raise a 2 handed weapon. 20% - 40% = Is better, you can walk short distances and have a 20% chance of a succesful vault. If your arm is affected, you can hold weapons / aim with slightly less shaking. 40% - 60% = Much better, you can run short distances, before slowly down or falling. You now have a 50% chance of a succesful vault. If your arm is affected, you can properly aim, but with some assistance (ie fence to lean on) 60% - 90% = You can walk properly and run a bit further. You now have a 80% chance of a succesful vault. If your arm is affected, you can aim with less shaking without assistance. 90% - 100% = You can walk properly and run with a slight limp. You now have a 95% chance of a succesful vault. If your arm is affected you can now use larger weapons (LMGs, large calibre sniper rifles) with ease. The broken bone meter will go from red to green depending on its condition. Tell me what you think, thanks!

SBR's and fighting from a vehicle in Standalone
dulix11 replied to thomas28's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Cars and other vehicles will be in the standalone, just not yet, much further down the road. He's saying that because the only real advantage of a weapon like this is to shoot out of vehicles, it will be useless until (my guess) the full game is released. -
You should be able to get ~30 frames at normal settings.
-
Your CPU is a bottlenecking a little but you should be able to get ~30 on normal-ish settings. First you'll need parts, I would suggest Pcpartpicker, its a pretty simple to use website. PM me if you need any more help.

Ok i get it.. its alpha.. but this is worse than the mod.

While I appreciate the effort you put into this video, I can't help but feel like this is what is 'killing' DayZ. Remember in the mod when there were no videos on how to gear up w/ AS50 in 2 minutes? When you were just some random guy in a cap on the beaches of Chernarus? And you had to figure everything out for yourself? Then the videos came, '20000000000+ vehicles in 2 minutes!', '1000+ weapons in dayz!'....and people learned what to do and how to do it. Instead of being thrown into some place where they could fight and learn for themselves, they are being spoon fed. imho
-
I'll have to say I completely disagree with this idea. What happens if you are killing in self defence? And you have managed enough kills to be at 225%?

Oh sorry could you please just go and make a game from nothing but little bits of the old ArmA II engine with a handful of devs working with you? I think they did a great job, with what they had. You were expecting a finished, AAA title game in 1.5 years of work. Just, leave.
