Not entirely. That CPU will run DayZ fine, but otherwise yes. You can get faster CPUs but I don't know how well they perform. I don't know how much ArmA II likes dual-GPUs, but even with one GPu, you'll get 35+ on high. GPU is bottlenecking. Something like a 7770 is relatively cheap, but if you're willing to spend a little more money, go for a 7850. As for a custom build, please specify were you're from, so we can get a better idea of where to look.

Of course I shoot anyone I don't know. Are you standing up? I'll shoot ya. Are you crouching? I'll shoot ya. Are you prone? I'll shoot ya. Wearing clothes? I'll shoot ya. Yelling at me that you're friendly? I'll shoot ya. Are you my friend whom I've been trading and looting with for the past week? I'll shoot ya. Unarmed, weapon-less and inexperienced? I probably won't shoot ya. Pregnant? I'll shoot ya. Bandit? I'll shoot ya, in the legs. Actually, no. I told a lie. I only shoot if You have a gun pointed at me, or you have a cloth around your face.

The only reason I really like third person is because first person feels really rough and clunky. So when I'm travelling it really gives me a headache to watch. However, when I get myself into an argument with guns, I will always use 1st person for a more engaging, realistic experience. But then you get people who exploit it, and use it in firefights, creating an unfair advantage.

Not very well at all. CPU is too slow, GPU I would assume wouldn't cut it. Laptops just can't handle games like this.

Yes, this has been suggested a million and one times. Use the search bar next time to avoid this. And, like you said, notes would be a cool idea, but graffiti would just = PAENUSES EVRYWARE

~30+ on normal. 40+ on high. 40+ on high. As for wasdAidan, I had a build that was about ~$500USD I'll look for it. Edit: Here it is.

Where did you get your copy of ArmA II OA?

Like jimmy said above, use DayZCommander, not the Steam version. It never worked for me. The link for DayZCommander is in the DayZ mods main page, up in the corner with: 'Current version: blah blah blah, click to download.' Choose a server with a moderate amount of players and <150 ping. If you have any questions regarding your hardware and how it will perform, go to the 'Can I run it?' thread in the new player discussion. Good luck.

I g000gled once. It was terrible.

Option 2 is what I mean. People just don't like being able look around the corner and spotting their target before he even has a chance.

That will run DayZ fine 30+ on high settings, but it is a bit overpriced. 16GB of RAM is unecessary, I reccomend building a computer. But look around and see if you can find a cheaper one. I'd say <10 FPS. You'd need to upgrade your CPU and GPU to newer models.
-
Its your, everything dude. CPU is waaaayyy too slow, RAM is pretty low too. I would reccomend a completely new computer for smooth frames. Ask around on the 'Can I run it?' thread for tips.

I edited the post to contain only the third person idea, thats all we've come to focus on so, please continue.

Right now, there is a windscreen, engine and wheels. There is alot more to a car than that. There should be more stuff like: - Batteries - Side windows - Fuel tanks - Mirrors - (Motor)bike wheels - Brake pads if you want to go to the extreme. - Hubcaps - Spark plugs - Fan belts - Radiators Of course, things like mirrors, windows and hubcaps wouldn't be a necessity for your car to drive properly. Also vehicle parts should degrade over time. - Wheels that are degraded have a higher chance of popping, coming off / they take less damage before breaking. - Engines that are degraded have a higher chance of breaking down. - Fuel tanks that are degraded use more fuel. - Windows that are degraded have cracks and holes in them. - Batteries that are degraded will give your vehicle a bigger chance of breaking down. - Brake pads that are degraded will obviously make braking difficult. Maybe engine upgrades? ie: you could find a car and put a bigger, faster engine inside. You could also find Xzibit and he'll pimp your ride and give you unecessary and dangerous things like an Xbox in your dashboard and replacing your wheels with ice-cream machines.

Lowest budget possible? CPU: $70 (AMD A8-5600k) MOBO: $75 (ASRock FM2A85X Extreme4) RAM: $50 (8GB Corsair) HDD: $50 (Htiachi 1TB) GPU: $90 (Radeon HD 7770 GHz edition) CASE: $20 (Coolermaster RC-361) PSU: $40 (Coolermaster 400w) Monitor: $120 Total: $580 I have no idea where Moldova is, I assume its in Europe? Keyboards and mice shouldn't cost much, if you ask me the $100 ones aren't worth it. Pure overkill.

I didn't say that the little cursor should be included. I was using that as an example: You hide behind a wall and use 3rd person to look around the place; there is no-one there, but as soon as you look out there, and get a player in your LoS, whether that be in 1st or 3rd person, they appear. They are invisible as long as you are hiding behind a wall, using the 3rd person camera to look for people. So, once you properly spot a person, then decide to hide behind the wall again, the person stays there, but doesn't move in the right direction. The 'dummy target' might move 30m toward you, but if you get the player in your LoS again, you'll find he only moved 10m in front. Thats what happens with the arrow. It might move 50m toward you, but upon closer inspection, the real player hasn't moved. Very hard to explain :/

I downloaded Blender last night and have been messing around with it all day - and by 'messing around' I mean adding different shapes and distorting them, flicking through menus and changing properties. I want to know, mainly - how to: -Paint the shapes. I can't find a simple tutorial which just has simple instructions as to how to do it. I don't mind having to download a paint program to do this. - Extend the shapes. For instance, I added a cube, but I don't know how to extend the top of it to make a rectangle-type shape. Thats all I want for now, if someone can help me that will be much appreciated.

Buying a macbook, need suggestions
dulix11 replied to gavin0101's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Mac is balls. Stupid name, stupid appliances stupid everything. You'll get more enjoyment out of eating dirt. Mac is balls. Don't bother with it. Even if it is so cheap, save that money and put it toward a decent Windows that can actually do cool stuff, and not be balls. -
If any of them, go for the first one, although I think he'd need a i7 for recording. A 3770k or 4770k, and a very good GPU like a 7970 or 680.
-
And also how do I properly paint the models. Like how do I export the model so I can colour it in GIMP?
-
Here you go: (I assume you're American) CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz MOBO: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 RAM: 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws HDD: 1TB GPU: Radeon HD 7870 2GB GHz edition CASE: Coolermaster HAF 912 PSU: 500w Gold OS: Windows 7 64bit All this was $922 from PCpartpicker and is basically equivilent to the computer you were looking at. Much more effiecient. As for putting it together, its basically giant lego blocks. There are tutorials on Youtube that explain it very easily. Most, if not all of the parts are only meant to go in one spot, so you can't screw it up, unless you handle the parts incorrectly and damage them. You should be fine.

No. I don't like this idea at all. Realism is fun to an extent, then it's just an annoying interuption.

My price range is between $100-$150. I don't want one that'll make me sound like a 9 year old who bought his from Kmart for $15. I'm running into too many situations where I need to hold people up, and to trick people into thinking I'm Frankie. I was looking at some $90 Turtle Beaches at JB-HIFI. Are they good quality? Thanks!

There is really no point upgrading the GPU at all. Build a new computer. Its not that hard, there is tutorials on youtube that explain it step by step. The CPU speed is painfully slow, I would reccommend at least 3.0GHz of clock speed, and you'll run it just fine. 8GB of RAM is ideal, you won't need anything over that. Windows 7 64bit is the best OS on the market, go for that. If you aren't looking to spend loads on a GPU get a 7770. If you do want to spend some more money, get a 7870 or 660ti.

Help running DayZ at a better framerate
dulix11 replied to MrMoose7's topic in Technology/Programming
CPU should be at least 3.0GHz and that will run ArmA II just fine. 8GB of RAM is ideal, you won't really need anymore. Windows 7 is also alot better than Vista. Trust me.
