  1. See topic. As we all know, recently there is the phenomenon of players getting spawned at the coast after logging in only to discover that all their gear is lost. This may or may not be linked to a prior spawn in the debug plains after an alt+f4. Annoying as it might be, you could still be able to recover your gear. The moment you spawn at the coast, a corpse of you will spawn at the location you logged off before. It is loaded with all your gear, including the backpack ofc. Just throwing it out there, since so many threads about this problems are spawning left and right atm and I rarely see people mentioning the corpse run possibility. Happy Recovery.
  2. This would become the new No1 cause of death... :D

    saving cars

We've heard of it, we've tried it. We've tried every other 'trick' there is...new tents have never ever saved a single item for us.

    Best place to find Camps?

How would you know that? The tents just reload their old content each restart.
  5. Nicht wirklich, nein. Anscheinend kann man sie nicht einmal per Überfahren zerstören - sie respawnen einfach wieder. Leg Dich doch sonst einfach da mal auf die Lauer und versuch es den Leuten anders abzugewöhnen...xD Doubt that it's intentional, since it would be against the rules.
  6. What's your point again? Is there anything in particular that let's you think it'd be something else than:
  7. So, then they'd have to rescript TWO simple paragraphs...xD But it is safe to say, that it's gonna be way harder than that.

    Do you still have artifacts?

You got it mixed up. If they simply removed the buggy objects, it would be the lazy man's fix, because it wouldn't fix anything. Instead they are working on finding an actual solution, so it doesn't happen all over again with added content in the future. So, them not simply removing said objects shows that they care, not the other way round.
  9. Not mentioning the 'foolish' sink-into-the-ground feature of Arma2 that is there to compensate for just that? :)

    Dealing with death

The best way to deal with death is to deal death again.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

No, the people whining the loudest often, if not always, are very committed to the game and just fail in voicing their opinions/worries in a mature way. They are gonna buy it anyway, no doubt. If this was my first gaming forum, I'd be very puzzled by the combination of passion, sense of entitlement and lack of reading/listening comprehension many people here display. You are not left sitting in the dark, quite the opposite - there is a very healthy communication between devs and playerbase (playtesterbase?) You just dig this game and want more, more, more of your fix...nothing else. Also, the thought of State of Decay and WarZ being deadly for DayZ is as cute as it is hilarious..^^

"REDDIT RESCUE FORCE!" DayZ Short Film

It's this attention to details that makes your videos just perfect. You say it's fun making them - I would've thought it was rather like a chore, with the rising demand and seeing how well made they are. How long does the production of a whole clip take? Also, i guess you are some kind of professionals, right? Hope this makes you a shitload of money then :D

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Rocket has mentioned the number '15' (as in 'starting at') quite a few times already...
  14. Less Than Lethal weapons. Give us pepper spray and tasers to subdue and disable players without seriously injuring them.
  15. It's like the above guy says - old tents (1.7.2.3 and older) reload their last (1.7.2.3 ) configuration at each restart. New tents (1.7.2.4 and newer) don't save at all. There's much more bugginess to it ofc, e.g. the temporary tent duping, when relocating. All in al, the OP's claim is unfounded. Might be that it behaves as such for him (though I doubt it), it obviously cannot be applied as a genral rule.
  16. Yes, that's exactly how it works - the server you logged onto when it happened, but the coords from where you logged off.
  17. I'd like to see a more sophisticated health/blood/metabolism mechanic. If blood is there to stay as some kind of hp-like representation of overall health (as opposed to e.g a more localized damage system), it would be more authentic, if blood could not be regenerated by eating (going from the brink of death to good-as-new by eating 2 cows...) or at least not as convenient as it is in the current state. Having to take care of hunger and thirst - good. Being able to 'selfheal' by eating whole animals - not good. Let blood bags or other medical methods be the only way to regain health/cure wounds, while nutrition mainly helps with regaining stamina (if such a mechanic does get implemented) and just generally is another thing you have to take care of. If food and drinks are able to replenish something, be it health or stamina (hell, even if not) - let there be a cap/trade off - set a cap on each resource - we can only hold so much food and drink in a certain timeframe after all -and, since it needs to get out again, we need an Excretion mechanic. Make the characters have the urge to do their No1s and 2s, depending on when and how much food and drinks they consumed. It would take the game's authenticity to a whole new level (though, like the 'suicide button', it might be something the media coverage might focus on in a negative way - 'From teabagging to golden showers'). There's just so much potential in such a gameplay mechanic. Imagine being in a firefight and having to take a leak, infections might give you diarrhea, griefers will rejoice, etc. Ofc it's kind of a tabooish thing in entertainment/media, but this is supposed to be an anti-game, right? What comes in, goes out, simple as that.
  18. Can you remember the server you first logged in on the coast? If it hasn't restarted, yet, your corpse will be lying on the ground where you logged out before. Example: 1. You played on US 1 yesterday and logged out west of NWAF 2. You log in on US 35 today and spawn at the coast, without your backpack or any gear at all (except for camo/ghillie) 3. When you spawned at the coast on US 35, a corpse of you spawned at the location you logged off before (i.e. west of NWAF) on the same server 4. If US 35 hasn't restarted in the time between your coastal spawn and now, you can still recover your gear. That wouldn't fix anything. OP's location is the coast now (or wherever he might have gone in the meantime). Only thing that can happen is another coastal spawn/gear loss, but no reverting to the previous stage (i.e. original location, gear back). Although it can happen without, it is usually caused by alt-f4ing (e.g. when game fails to load after joining the server).

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Well, I heard Rocket say that he currently envisions DayZ starting out with one map, Chenarus+, and other maps getting added later as paid DLC (which would be a bummer, but I think they should make their fair share of $, too, so...). Can't provide source, though. They'd be damned if they don't. There might be some legal issues ofc, but those can get sorted out quickly, if there's enough money to make, right? (e.g.blizz-paypal-rmah). edit: They could just throw in a re-released Arma2 bundled with the DayZ alpha/beta/retail access - it's not as if there'd be too many potential customers with the release of standalone and Arma3...xD And regarding the constant updating - Every time I start steam, there's an update for TF2. Every. Single. Time.
  20. Well, our experience with tents differs. Old tents (1.7.2.3) reload their old content each restart, regardless of saving (or who does the saving) and new tents (after 1.7.2.3) don't save anything and just spawn empty, regardless of saving (or who does the saving). So I have to say, that this is not really clearing up anything, I even dare to say it's wrong...

Got myself a vehicle, now what?

This is true. Getting out saves the vehicle location, while the 'save' command refers to the gear (which is just as buggy as tents - everything put in before 1.7.2.4 reloads, everything put in after said patch gets eaten). So, to answer OP's questions: Yes (saving is irrelevant, though) No No Sometimes, vehicles morph into other types after a restart, sometimes they fail to load and skip one restart, only to return again and ofc they might get stolen, while you were off. When you get out of a vehicle, it gets saved to that location, there's nothing else you can do about it.
  22. And I find it hard to believe that there is an expert on Samurai/Bushido,who cites Confucius as a relevant source, but doesn't mention Musashi... But since you carry the trolling in the signature, it's probably your hobby or smth and nothing of value is to discuss here, right?^^
  23. Hope my post fits this subforum, if not feel free to move it Hey there, I am one of the gazillion people, who bought Arma CO just to be able to play this fine mod. Thinking I am missing out on another, possibly very enticing, experience, I'd like to try out the base game as well. There should be some Arma vets here - would one/some be so kind and point me where to start? This includes what community sites to visit (armaholics?), which mod to choose (ACE?) or if it is better to stick with vanilla, if playing the campaign before jumping into multiplayer is necessary, should I straight go for OA or play Arma 2 first, etc. All in all, I'd like to get a quick briefing on how to get into playing Arma smoothly. I'd eventually figure it out anyway, I guess. But since I am here, I might as well ask to get a running start.^^ Looking forward to your input.

    Antibiotics?

I can only speak for myself. Gotten infection by zombie bite, discovered that the single antibiotics of our group had been lost and started heading for the nearest hospital. After finding no antibiotics there, I noticed that the infection was gone already. Must have been something between 30 minutes and one hour spent infected. I might have let myself get dropped to 6000, maybe that's part of it? Maybe infections are really meant to stay for good and it was just buggy for me (as it is for those people who lose it by relogging).
