In game Brony Meetup!
[email protected] replied to Rokor Fenix's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Two questions: 1. Would bandits be allowed if they promised to behave themselves? 2. Do we have to use the TRADITIONAL ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE in Teamspeak? -
Why do companies even trust battleye?
[email protected] replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The reason why Battle Eye is struggling with keeping scripting out of the game is that ARMA2 was designed to allow that in the first place, and for good reasons. It's really hard to lock something out while it's one of the core features of the engine the game is running on. And for ESP and aimbot stuff, which probably already exist too, take a look at any other AC solution. Punkbuster has a higher chance of banning you for activating the Steam in-game overlay than for using a private hack. And don't even get me started on VAC. http://www.punkbuster.com/ Seems to be normal for AC solutions. -
Why I kill unarmed players
[email protected] replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To transcribe the whole thing: I have to stay in Cherno at shoot at newbies because the russian brick I call an assault rifle won't help me against the bandits up north, who will curbstomp my sorry ass as soon as I'm past Novy Sobor. Nothing against shooting unarmed people, but hanging around the playground all day won't help you become a big boy, so go north and become a man. A dead man that is. -
A classic. Survivor gets hit in the face by a zombie, survivor has broken legs. Bandit shoots at survivors legs, nothing happens. Survivor opens a gate, breaks his legs.

Monkeys fight by flinging poo at each other. Men fight by insulting geographic locations they were born at by chance. Clearly we are the peak of evolution.

Project Reality for BF2? Big nostalgia boner coming up... -

That's not the issue, the reason why you get so many Valve games cheap or free of charge these days is because Valve makes money by selling games, not only their own, via Steam. So the more people have a Steam account, the more money will Valve get. The fact that they have three of the most popular multiplayer shooters in their roster only helps them. Don't get me wrong, I like Steam, but Valve doesn't give you free stuff because Gabe Newell is a nice guy, they practically own the digital distribution market on PC and they want it to stay that way. -
Would you kill the unarmed?
[email protected] replied to Ashnik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The problem is we don't run into families in DayZ, we run into heavily armed people or guys who will be heavily armed soon. Imagine yourself in a civil emergency, no army or police in sight, you are alone in the forest and a guy with an assault rifle runs up to you. Do you really try to talk to this guy? -

Because you don't like simulations and you want a pseudo-facebook in your game that kicks you from your own server randomly, doesn't show you stats correctly half the time, has more downtimes than the Steam network and forces you to install two of the worst trojans out there (Origin & Punkbuster)? I run three servers on BF3 and I still have more to complain about that game than I had with OFP, ARMA and ARMA2 combined, hell even MW3 was less of a pain in the ass, and that game is peer-to-peer on PC. Because Valve wants you to have a Steam account more than they want the money for HL. Who buys HL anyway? You can play TF2 for free for the sole purpose of having a Steam account. -

The reason is simple, because BF3's engine was developed for a completely different purpose. ARMA2 is a simulator which allows the user to run scripts, BF3 is a shooter which has facebook integrated. And don't tell me you were never a victim of a masskill in BF3, I saw whole servers dying to medkits or repair tools. -
Tolerable, based on my personal experience. I died 3 times by hackers as of now, Thunderdome'd once, parachute cow bombed once and some dick teleported me really high up.

Still less buggy than anything Obsidian has ever made. And I love almost all OBsidian games. -

I like to pay for stuff that isn't broken, nobody can promise me that if I pay early, the game will get out of Alpha phase successfully. I'm not one who's likes to bash on DayZ, but if I'm asked to pay money for something, I'm kind of conservative. -

How are you paying twice? Thanks, I didn't really get that. Not really my thing, but people can do with their money what they want. -

So i went around trying to communicate with people

It also depends on the location. On the coast when both are unarmed? Sure, you've got nothing to lose anyway. But if you're trying to talk to strangers on NW airfield you might be mental. -
"Subsonic rounds" for the non-Germans here.

Would you kill the unarmed?
[email protected] replied to Ashnik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, because there are only two reasons I'm at the coast to begin with: 1. I'm picking up a mate who just spawned, so I have better gear and everyone will try to kill me anyway. 2. I just spawned myself and kill people for their supplies. Even an unarmed player can have bandages or beans. Once again: if he's not in your group, he's a target. -
Was Harry a cheater?

I also made some kills which were shown directly, I can't really tell what the problem is to be honest. -

Admin's can't do that since they can't run any script in DayZ. I've shot a full M4 mag into a guy once and he died like 5 seconds after I stopped firing, must be a delay of some sort. -
Every one I kill thinks I'm a hacker...

And this effect was strangely enough around since UT and CS. Don't blame shitty games for stuff good games encouraged a long time ago. -
Trying to get started on Youtube.

Software wise I think you're fine with VH capture or something like that. Fraps is normally a total bitch, I wouldn't rely on that program. Since you will probably record in 1080p, the important thing is that you also adjust your game settings accordingly. This sometimes means that you have to play in windowed mode, it might not be good to play for you, but your viewers will thank you. Sound is very important, so after you've got your mic, make sure to use something like Audacity to go over your voice over files. Don't forget to lower the game volume accordingly while playing and most importantly turn off the music if you didn't do that already. One thing about pirating recording software: I'm not a holy man in that regard, but don't forget that you're on Youtube. First of all, it's easy to contact you since it's connected to the Google global domination network and if you want to get a Youtube partner, you will face problems. As soon as you're making money with it, you are not only stealing software, you are using said software to make a profit. -

[email protected] replied to Nimz41's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you're pretty cheap, you will have a problem. Doing comentary isn't the magic everyone of these trendy Youtubers want you to think, but you do need decent audio equipment. If you're using a cheap headset you will sound like shit, even if you have the most erotic voice ever, so look for a decent mic. -
Every one I kill thinks I'm a hacker...
[email protected] replied to Kriptz1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Of course. Everyone who kills me must be a hacker because I'm the best human being that has ever existed on earth and I can't fail at anything. -

Welcome to online gaming. Everyone who makes a mistake is a fucking noob and everyone who gets a kill is a cheater.
