  1. You are the guy with the assault rifle, the zombies shouldn't even hit you once. And you can still shoot with a broken leg, unless you are utilizing your feet to pull the trigger, which would actually be kind of awesome. And for the second "problem": Have you played any non-EA/Activision game that was published before ca. 2008?
  2. So the problem wasn't the rubble or the broken leg, but the lack of knowledge about the surrounding. Case closed?
  3. If he can hit you, you can shoot him. With an assault rifle you can shoot him about 300m away. Still don't see the problem.
  4. Fuck no, that means that they have probably two or three seconds more to Alt+F4 before I can kill them. As soon as the "heroes" get more health I want AS50 as starting equipment for bandits. Or alternatively CAS for everybody.
  5. You have an assault rifle, the zombies are running at normal human speed towards you. I don't see the problem honestly, just always remember to point the loud metal thing in your hands at the zombies and they stop chasing you. Or just go into one of the buildings which aren't blocked by rubble.
  6. So you didn't manage to sneak around the Zs and you decided not shooting them would help you in some way?
  7. It must be hard to find the V key.
  8. No need to insult him for his playstyle. It's not a good way to play the game but that doesn't mean he's some kind of terrorist. If the Elektro campers and hackers stop giving people any reason to Alt+F4, I'm happy with personally flogging every quitter personally, until then, they're just an annoyance like any other cheater and glitcher.
  9. Oh I do love the BF series, well except probably the BC spin-offs, but the problem with Frostbite is that it is really just made for BF gameplay, which differs heavily from ARMA or even DayZ. Medal of Honor had more similarities with BF than DayZ has and it was still the worst military shooter I've ever seen. Seriously, I'd rather play Daikatana than MOH 2009 once again, it was so FUCKING AWEFUL. Well... did I mention that MOH was shit?
  10. 1. This is kinda funny, just take it as a joke. It's the same as the axemen up north, at least something's happening. 2. You're basically becoming one of those guys, so you can't judge him for that. 3. Common tactic. Lure zombies to survivors and shoot their legs. Nothing non-legit about that. 4. The way to play the game. Matter of fact is, right now everyone starts with the same equipment, that's more balancing than every other solution. If you change the starting equipment for survivors, we will shoot each other withing the group and nurse us back to health to get +humanity. And thus we introduce stats padding.
  11. Replacing the heavy client-sided but moddable ARMA2 with the heavy client-side unmoddable Frostbite2 is a great idea.
  12. First of all: Congrats! Nice kills and deserved ones at that. Scond: Maybe bad Elektro snipers? They don't have the skill to fight real players anyway, so maybe they are to stupid to shoot sitting ducks.
  13. So, I guess when survivors get a free gun for beeing bad at the game, all good players must start to use script bypasses and hack the shit out of the mod, since they have to "balance" the freebe weapons out somehow. And then the survivors, who are still bad at their job even with the "guns for beeing stupid" perk, have to use godmode in order to survive. Which means that the bandits then need admin rights on servers to balance shit out again. So basically the survivors have to become part of the DayZ dev team by then for balance puproses.
  14. Sorry, but that's your own fault. You are getting shot by a sniper, so you know enemies are in the area. You and your mate, you are not alone in this, find cover and suddenly a stranger runs into the room. So you know there are hostiles around and you know he probably still wants to kill you and you assume that everybody else in the area must therefore be innocent? That's just bad assesement, nothing else. Our sniper always takes down one target and than we (most of the times three guys) go into CQC and take out the rest of the survivors. It's a pretty common tactic and very predictable at that. And Alt+F4 is basically the reason why everyoby wants those one-shot wepons now. And those who don't like sniper rifles just shoot you unconcious so you can stare at your screen for a couple minutes next time you log onto a server.
  15. Dankine and Professional n00b both got some beans for understanding the game. Something to think about: Maybe so many survivors get shot by bandits because the players who actually take that path are just the better ones? As soon as you know how to approach a location without getting shot and how to spot potential enemies, you might as well use these skills to kill other players. If you don't know these things, you can't be a bandit anyway and have to become a survivor, or alternatively an Elektro sniper pussy.
  16. No wonder, considering the fact that ARMA2 is a simulation, not a shooter. Could another engine serve DayZ standalone better? Sure, if you can find/develop one. Did the ARMA2 engine enable a rather unique mod like DayZ in the first place? Yes, since most other engines are fit for completely different games.
  17. I'm not per se against this idea, I just don't want the sniper weapons completely gone. I play in a small to mid sized group normally and we do employ our designated marksman a lot for overwatch and stuff like that, it's important for squad based gameplay. But less Elektro hill campers would be really nice, because those guys are just annoying. But removing the weapons all together is not a good solution for that problem. If you're a "friendly" player, you don't have to contact everybody. Sometimes it's just better to avoid players alltogether, and if you are really trying zo contact a group of heavy armed guys and ask them really nice if they won't shoot you, you are not part of the "smart survivor" group. And you have to get closer to survivors as a bandit too, at least I doubt that I can simply shoot everybody I see with my effective range of 200m. And I still have to loot the body of my victim, if I don't check my surroundings, the already mentioned nasty buddy comes into play.
  18. Nope, only Stanag SD mags for the M4 SD. Wouldn't make much sense to fire non-sd rounds with a supressed gun.
  19. Doesn't change the fact that beeing friendly and smart is not a drawback. Being stupid however is always bad, no matter if you are a carebear or a lunatic. Mankind is evil, don't expect anything else. ;)
  20. What about getting shot? Sometimes you don't take your target down immediatly or he has a nasty buddy you didn't see. If KOS was that easy, I would have never died in the game. Beeing friendly alone doesn't help you, beeing friendly, stealthy and smart however does.
  21. That's all possible for survivors. But if they get shot at and don't manage to survive the firefight, they shouldn't get a freebe as "reward" for bad fighting tactics, that's the problem. Nobody is obligate to KOS and it is actually risky to be a bandit. People here claim that beeing a bandit is so much easier and the game is unfair, but nobody seems to consider that, if you are not a Elektro sniper pussy, you have a 50/50 chance of deing everytime you attack a survivor. So the "reward" for good survivors is that they get less attacked, i.e. they're good at stealth, and keep their loot and life for a longer time.
  22. Still the same problem, why should people who don't know how to stay alive and make big mistakes be rewarded for that? It's not that hard to not be a bandit and stay alive.
  23. It's still better than awarding players for being bad and stupid. Good survivors shoot back and get their bonus from dead bandits or can keep the loot they already got by not getting shot. Bad survivors die, as well as bad bandits. I can't see an imbalance there to be honest. No game, no matter if video game, board game, sport or anything else, should award stupid behaviour.
  24. I think the easiest way to balance S/B is to improve the AI routines of the survivors. Seriously, right now they're just broken. Instead of stealthing like any human player would do, the stupid AI survivors shoot the loudest guns in midst of a big city and attract thousands of Zs and Bs to their location. But the worst thing about the survivor AI is the fact that the combat routines aren't implemented yet. Instead of shooting back they only close their client as soon as they hear gunfire a mile away. Strangely enough the survbots have some kind of script running which opens threads on the forums as soon as their character died because they couldn't close the game fast enough. So in a nutshell, Rocket just has to improve the combat AI and maybe implement some common sense and we should be fine.
