Rocket, Please don't. (Dayz on Console).
[email protected] replied to alcatraz968's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
SCREAMING DOESN'T IMPROVE YOUR ARGUMENT! A bad way to port PC titles to consoles is for example to mess up the control scheme, beeing it make the button layout senseless and confusing or not properly porting it for an analog movement system. It happens less ebcause MS and Sony have a little bit of QA on console titles, while PC games don't have anything of that sort. Really? The console market is demanding easy games, while the PC gaming master race is the only place where people are challenged? What about Demon's Souls? Or Dark Souls, where Konami was petitioned by PC gamers to port it on our system because it is so great and challenging. And as far as I remember the Commander mode was only in BF2 and was already dropped when the horrible BC2 arrived. Killcams are pretty useful to detect hackers in-game and BF3 sucks because DICE wanted to copy facebook on PC, someting which console users don't have to bother with. A lot of PC-only releases suck just because they are shit, not because the non-existant console version is evil as Satan. -

PC gamers can be upset if a game is a bad console port. Console players can be uspet if a game is a bad PC port. Gamers who are pissed because "their" game is released on another system are stupid. Yes, I just called you stupid, Steve! (probably not you name, but it's fun to mess with all the Steves reading this) -
Yet again, a song for you. And people like Ice Age and stuff like that, but if it's a TV show for kids instead of a movie for kids you are suddenly Satan.

The question is if ANYBODY thinks about making ANYTHING for that brick.

Did i do the right thing?

Red cross on arm = primary target. Doesn't make much sense to shoot guys unconcious when they're up and running again after a few seconds. And since medical supplis are rare in the north, it makes even more sense to take those guys out. -

The thermal brick isn't always the best answer, I've seen countless people getting shot because they thought that their thermal uber gear will shield them from harm. Easiest thing to do is going in at night and throwing one or two flares in the middle of the runway. After that, sneak around the back of the hangars without getting harassed from Zs. Even most bandits will either go into cover or announce them by shooting the glow stick. -

You still don't know how not to get shot in the face after you've aquired that stuff? Well, not beeing seen usually helps quite a lot, or shooting the other guy first. -

Behold the glory of my ePenis: http://i.imgur.com/4Pgx5.jpg I've not been killed since a few weeks, seems that German servers are much more peaceful and untouched as the UK ones. -

-896k at the moment, I'm going straight to hell. -
I love the uber 1337 L85 guys, so easy to shoot when they think they have the upper hand against anyone with a normal assault rifle.

Sorry, bratán, but Swoboda will kick your ass anyway. And get out of here, Stalker!

You're beeing punished for using an ugly font. And humanity doesn't reset after your death, so you probably killed others before. -
YouTube ideas for DayZ?
[email protected] replied to Jesters (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's just that at the moment people are putting out videos for DayZ in massproduction, it seems a little bit silly at times, even though I am subbed to two channels myself. The most important thing is imho to set yourself an overall goal, you can still sidetrack of course, but most bad videos I see are just mindless running around in Elektro and swearing at the screen. If you have an overarching "plot" for your series, it's automatically better and more enjoyable than many other series and people who want to subscribe know a) you're going to provide more stuff and B) what they can look forward to. From what I've seen on your channel (yes I checked a lil' bit) I can say the sound quality is pretty good, which is very important for videos. And your accent is understandable for non-English speakers like me, so that's another plus. Tone of voice and speed are also fine, so you're good in the sound department. Best of luck to you, no matter what you'll eventually do. -

And here goes the bandwagon again. YT is littered with DayZ videos, doesn't make much sense to add something that's already there a thousand times. What you want to consider is what makes you different than anybody else. Most people show a bandit or semi-bandit squad sniping other people, which is pretty lame since you don't see that much on the tiny video. The other thing is the "dude... i found like... a helicopter" videos where people show one-time stuff which happens not that often anyway. So those two things are pretty much covered anyway, maybe a "I don't kill people" series of you surviving alone in the wilderness while avoiding contact? Or if you have a group, set yourselves a goal like "we will repair a heli and won't kill anybody". The second and more important thing is what you want to talk about. Commenting is not that easy, you can easily talk too much or too few. So avoid non-DayZ stuff like "speaking of zombies, I saw Dawn of the Dead the other night and...", it's not really "good content". The other problem is you have to talk about something, people want to hear you. The best thing to do is generally talk about your surrounding, since it's informative for newer players and shows how important the aspect of scouting in DayZ is. In a nutshell: Try to be different and talk about stuff that matters. Everything else, and that applies to every Let's Play, will make bad videos. And if all else fails, buy a webcam and do the facecam thing where you scream like a little girl at mildly frightening scenes. -
Arma 2's mechanics make dayz lame
[email protected] replied to Slobbergoat (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
- That is actually a problem in ARMA and I hope the inventory management gets better in ARMA3. - Also a problem. It's possible but you have to "put it away", switch the weapon back and forth and then it's ok. It's stupid. - ARMA2 is a military simulator, I doubt you one-shot a fully geared soldier with a 9mm if it's not directly in the face. But it hurts and knocks you back, which is does in-game. - I don't get that. - I've never seen soldiers saluting while not standing up. - To be fair, the backpack thingy isn't in ARMA2 per se, but I still hope inventory gets better in general. - I've seen worse, but i've also seen better. It's not really that hard, takes a little bit of practice. - You are prone, how can you lower your weapon even more? - There is nothing like that intended in ARMA2, hence the strange work-around we've got right now. All in all stuff that is the result of the mod beeing not quite what ARMA is made for or bad inventory design which has to be fixed anyway in ARMA3. -
"Balancing" Survivors and Bandits

They wouldn't hurt, since they're only pop-ups which you can de-activate. It would solve the "problem" of PvP probably better than anything else, since new "goals" for players would mean less hunting. But yes, it would be kind of silly too. -

Why not, I can think of some. Break your legs with a door Get shot unconcious by a smoke grenade Shoot your buddy who is running from a zombie by accident Shoot your buddy who is running from a zombie Shoot yourself by aiming at a door close range Trip over the lowest step of a staircase and die Bang your gun on the door frame so you break your legs -

If it's a Steamworks game, you will get your achievments, can't really imagine one without them. Take a look at the game files of older versions and say that again. ;) -
"Balancing" Survivors and Bandits

I think for regular mode servers it would be ok, there's enough stuff already displayed which breaks the game imho. But veteran and expert servers shouldn't have that, it breaks the suspense too much. Believe me, after a while the Zs are nothing more than target practice and player encounters, no matter if good or bad, are the real "kick" in the game. Knowing the intentions of a player in advance destroys that kind of feeling. Although I'm always for ePenis enlargements like stats, I am a dirty achievement whore after all. -

I would suggest to use the Survivor HQ (the sub forum here) to meet a group to join, it's easier and people tend to trust each other more if they already know you from somewhere. Just imagine how this would be in the real world, when you see a heavy armed guy running at you, you wouldn't be too friendly there either. And a tooltip for murder count would be the number one reason for me to shoot even more people. Nothing says "don't attack me or you'll die" than a big number of victims on the screen. :D Yes it does, the camo clothing also. The headscarf thingy for bandits and heroes is only displayed when wearing civi clothing, -
"Balancing" Survivors and Bandits
[email protected] replied to grasmann's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's pretty easy. If you don't want to be a bandit, just walk the other way as soon as you see another survivor who is armed. Even the unarmed can be dangerous. If a guy sees you however, yell friendly as fast as you can, while running into cover. Try to avoid anything human as much as possible. -
"Balancing" Survivors and Bandits
[email protected] replied to grasmann's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And here we see a typical non-smart survivor. If you announce yourself to unknown players, which didn't see you yet, you don't get to complain about getting shot. If you try to shoot people, which have seen you first but did not kill you, you don't get to complain about KOS. Your behaviour encourages non-bandits to shoot you even though they want to spare you and encourages bandits to kill you because you are stupid enough to give away your presence to potentially dangerous players. -

So the people who can't kill other people nor try to heal them (survivors) get better loot than players who actually know which end of a gun makes the loud noise? Again, don't punish people for beeing good at something. -
So Who Do You Think The Hackers Really Are?
[email protected] replied to Devmagic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The happiest customers on the planet. No other software company will fix problems with your product faster, or why are "detected" hacks in every game fully functional again after two or three days? And let's not forget that they are the best customers for game companies two, or do you buy two or three keys per game?
