I've seen them spawn just NE of the most northern dear stand in Berezino. Ver 1.7.2.5

Good post. I'd say killing the zombies is risky. They respawn quicker than wildfire and most people don't have silenced weapons, so chance of aggro and detection from other players is highly likely. And when the zombies do respawn, it tends to be right back on top of you if you're already at the HCS

I play in a Hero skin and I've found, if anything, I'm more of a target. My other conclusion is that Hero skin has an ancient curse bestowed upon it. Either way you're fucked. On a different note, I wish I could tuck that shirt in. What a scruff

There is actually people with morals in this game.
Hobnobskid replied to MXGStatik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I play hero, I'm about 8000 humanity at the moment but can't be exact because the counter resets after a fraction of a second. 7 weeks, 1 murder, 1 bandit kill. The bandit kill was picked up last night... ... I had been KoS more times than I care to remember and I was starting to think it wasn't worth the grief trusting other players anymore. Camping on the hill just north of Balota, I was ready to drop my hero skin, track somebody out of the airfield, shoot and loot them somewhere safe. Indiscriminate payback Then a message appears, "server restart in 10 minutes". I haven't been by an airfield before when this has happened, naturally I keep my eyes on the airfield and wait the time out. Server restarts and I leg it into the control tower as fast as I can. I'm armed with an MP5 and not feeling particularly threatening. A female skinned survivor, armed with a hatchet, spawns in the tower whilst I'm going downstairs, we exchange friendlies and I continue looting. Next thing I know I'm axed in the back (far too common an occurrence). Luckily don't KO and unload all 30 shots into her (his) face. Bandit kill. I'm made up, but at the same time I'm almost having a heart attack. I'm on 3000 blood and in an incurable state of shock. Seconds later another survivor enters the tower and tells me not to shoot. I can't take this stress and want to take him down as well. But he's unarmed, I can't do it. I take care of his Zeds and drop him a blood pack for myself. He patches me up and then I tell him this long winded story you're reading right now. So far, this has all taken place before i can even get to the ground level of the tower. He beats me to the bottom and picks up an AK and it's pointing right at me. Shit. He has no ammo and tells me he wouldn't shoot me if he did. Thank god. This is all getting to claustrophobic for me now, I don't even tell him I'm leaving, sprint out of the hangar (it was tank trapped off so I had to fuck about with the ladder) and quickly loot the hangars. I find a Kobra, drop my MP5 (keep the mags) and think fuck it, I need to sleep IRL and can't do it with all this adrenaline in my system and when I'm out of ciggies. I run back to my hill, drop the MP5 mags and log out for the night. In hindsight: I wish I could have at least asked this survivor his name, gave him beans, pepsi and some morphine to help him on his way, but my faith in the DayZ community is that ravaged I couldn't even bear the sight of the person who arguably might have just saved my life. In conclusion: This was a 1 in 50 encounter for me, meeting a genuine friendly. I'm still going to play less friendly in future. You look at me with that hatchet and, from now on I swear, I'll shoot you in the face. If you're unarmed, we're still cool, how can I help? TLDR: Faith not completely restored / Never trust a survivor with a hatchet / Never trust a woman / Definitely, never trust a woman with a hatchet -
Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?
Hobnobskid replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Glad you got a laugh out of that and thanks for the link (It definitely needs bumping on this thread for those of us who don't understand). Was how I felt after my 5th hacked death of the day. But at least now I know better now eh? :) -
Nice deathmatch you got there
Hobnobskid replied to KillCam96's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How about a hi-vis reflective jacket skin for people who have killed 5+ unarmed survivors or survivors not totaling more than 5 minutes of game time. You could maybe get rid of it only by helping as many unarmed players as you have slain. And it glows in the dark? :) Personally though, the situation doesn't bother me. I like the sound of flies and ricochets. Spawning in Electro on a 50 man server is ace, just leave some loot for me. *edit: A hatchet definitely counts as being armed as I have found out countless times already -
Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?
Hobnobskid replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't care about artifacts. They're understandable. I don't care about item duping. I can deal with it. I don't care if my L85 just vanished in transit from my backpack to my tent. I'll go and find another. I don't care if I fell off one step and unjustly broke my leg and have to crawl 3km to a hospital, just so I can get some morphine. I might even enjoy it. I certainly don't give a flying fuck about campers, people picking off new spawns and one shot kill sniper rifles. I encourage it, I will overcome it and I will find the culprates. What I can't stand, or even understand, is Hackers. I don't want to rage, but seriously, how can anybody help this mod progress if we can't even play a stably bugged game. A game where we all over come the same bugs and glitches together? Somewhere with a bit of consistency. Something needs doing about it, it goes without saying, but seriously Rocket et Team, just let us know exactly what you're doing about it. Tell us something, anything, even if it's the worst news we'd ever want to hear about the situation. Just tell us everything is fucked. Then I'll be happy. This is your community right here, you created it, so don't forget about it -
Changing to Hero skin without losing backpack ?
Hobnobskid replied to Verticalslum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've heard hero skin is 5000(?). I'm currently at 4800 so can't be sure. All I know if the next person I heal, I'll be dropping my backpack on a nice, level tarmacked surface before hand -

So.. Hackers. (Not a rage thread)
Hobnobskid replied to cur1er's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm currently logged out mid-air and was wondering what would happen when I log back in. In the brief time I realised I was in the sky, before promptly logging out, I seem to remember the ground below me being very blue and wet looking. Will I die if I plummet into the sea? Really don't get the hackers, what is the point and what do they get out of it? (Rhetorical question of course) I'm not raging, just mildly irritated, I'll get over it and carry on as usual. They really need to find better ways of spending their time. -

Just had my first sky diving, courtesy of hackers, experience Server was UK 222, time was about 5 minutes ago, so 2150 GMT. I had to Ctrl+Alt+Del in the clouds. What happens when I log back in tomorrow? Also, I had major issues with my tent about 10 minutes before. Was putting items in my empty tent, and I lost my compass, M4A1, a box of matches and binoculars. Could they have had anything to do with this or is it just a bug? *edit - Server had about 25 people in -
New DayZ Wiki Interactive Loot Map and Database
Hobnobskid replied to smokie (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Map looks good. Vehicle spawns vanish if I adjust the loot slider. As do deerstands. Also, I preferred the old system of being able to deselect low value properties and the likes. The sliders are just too awkward and not well explained -
Hump leg option for those lonely moments in the woods? Also, I'd like to see a guard option. Maybe I could leave the dog at my camp when I dc for the night and any would be bandits would get a good ole fashioned chewing if they came close. Dog would have to be server side like a vehicle of course

Reddit - Aug 2012 - Q&A with Rocket
Hobnobskid replied to Max Planck's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Beans given. Been waiting for an informative post like this for beards. Rocket really does love his dogs, think it must be a Reddit "thing"
