You, sir, are a trooper. Should I see you crawling near a shore I will happily help you up. Not that I make my way back down there all the time :) In the future, always keep morphine on you. It magically heals broken legs.. just like real life?

Balota Airfield and Cherno have been having MASSIVE artifacting issues for me the last few days on all servers (usually caused by ambient vehicle wreckage). If that's what you are talking about, I do believe Rocket mentioned something about fixing that in the next patch. Until then, if you have the issue, just avoid those areas.

Ghillie suit help vs hiding/detection from Zombies or is it a pure PVP peice of kit ?
Malachi Krieg replied to Siberian (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
As said above, your odds of getting killed are probably just the same when coming across other players, but at least you can hide easier from them with the ghillie. And to re-answer your question: PVP only. The Eye/Ear gauge stays the same with or without it for Zed Detection. -
Are you getting the standard hour glass timer and waking up after 2 minutes? If so and you didn't have the concussion/shock icon when you logged out, you are experiencing a bug that's going around right now. One of our group members has developed narcolepsy as we have been calling it. He was healthy and fine, but any time we logged in with him, he passed out... and we proceeded to dance around him and randomly light camp fires. I think death is what cured it for him, sadly.

The temp gauge now is horrible to read. It used to actually have a numerical listing in the Debug Monitor, but that was taken out last major patch. "Sickness" from being ill from cold or the ever-so-occasional zed hit will have your character coughing every few moments and start dropping blood, but not very fast. You being at 3k blood was probably the issue. You most likely went into shock and were already cold and hanging by a thread. Glad you got your stuff back though!
-
If your character is just shaking, take pain pills. If your character is coughing, find antibiotics. They are NOT easy to find so, nice knowing you? :P EDIT: Oh yeah, I cannot confirm this, but allegedly you can warm up by a fire (assuming you can make one) for 10 minutes or so and cure your ails, though you will still have lost the blood you did while being sick. Again, I cannot confirm this, but if you're going to die it's worth a shot! Good luck.

Noob wants to ask pro a question
Malachi Krieg replied to Bonehead3535's topic in New Player Discussion
"i" brings up the scoreboard in-game, but not all servers have it enabled. If you use DayZCommander to launch the game (and I recommend this) not only will it keep a list of recent servers you have been on, but you can simply look at the server you clicked to join (and you can mouse-over the number of players on the server and see the names). -
It seems last patch that they got telescopic vision again. I know their hearing for gunshots was fixed, so something MAY have gotten goofed with their vision because they sure seem to charge at 100+m now.

Are the zombies meant to be one hit killers?
Malachi Krieg replied to spidy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, every once in a while (hopefully only once in a while) you get the Mister Universe Zombie who gives you the old Falcon Punch and snaps your legs. Shouldn't happen all the time, but it happens. Just keep that morphine handy! -
The DayZ GuideZ Master List
Malachi Krieg replied to WhiteTigerShiro's topic in New Player Discussion
I second this! Mods, stick this por favor!? I would have loved to have seen this thread or one like this back when I started :( -
You weren't running around at night and in rain, were you? You may have been sick (since the temp gauge SUCKS now and the temp itself is gone from the Debug Monitor). Did you try logging out of the server and back in. There are random occasions where spontaneous deaths occur, though usually only when logging in.

Day 2: The day I became a murderer.
Malachi Krieg replied to LetsbeFriends!'s topic in New Player Discussion
You know, my very first kill was with an axe in Cherno also, so I feel a bit of a kindred spirit with you. However, I have to admit that "banditry", when I DO set out for it -- which is not ALL the time -- is much more fun at the NW Airfield or Stary. Picking people off in Elektro or Cherno is generally easy since they will have crap for gear. Setting yourself against someone who's not totally wet behind the ears deeper inland, pure gold. ...that's not to say that I don't try to go on killing sprees whenever I do manage to die and spawn in Cherno or Elektro myself again... -
This is a lie. How can PIE = Hunger? Oh... wait... As everyone else said, sprinting will burn through your water pretty quickly. Running up hills a lot will tire you out. If your guy/girl sounds like he/she's about to have a heart attack, you are probably burning through water quicker too. However, I don't think there's an actual formula, per se. Not to mention the rate at which you need drink/food seems to changes between patches right now anyway :)
-
You probably just got sniped. If you were in-game and alt-tabbing to the forums... that's a quick way to die.
-
From my experience, and I may be wrong, they are completely random. I've seen pigs wandering in Cherno even. You will most likely have better luck in some of the open fields, but it's not guaranteed.
-
I concur. Do yourself a favour an get the DayzCommander launcher since the filter is SO much better. Just taking nameplates off made me a happy, happy camper.

Heh, that ladder itself IS a hacker. I am pretty sure it's claimed more lives than a large handful of bandits combined. I know some people still have an issue with that ladder if they do the old "climbing the ladder with their pistol out" gig. *shrug*. Such is the life of an "Alpha" player... though ArmA II in general still has man-eating ladders...

Dying of thirst every time. Where are canteens found?
Malachi Krieg replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
I've had the best luck finding water bottles in supermarkets and deer stands, though I have found them on occasion in the other places listed. I strongly suggest you use DayZDB's map. You can put and item in the search box and it will mark spots on the map where you can find them. -
You can also use "turbo" for as the game calls it "fast forward". You'll burn through fuel a little quicker, but it will speed you up. Default keys, I "think", are W for forward (that one is obvious) and Z for fast forward. But this is all just assuming you have a repaired vehicle to begin with :)
-
Just what she said. if you check www.dayzdb.com you can see the spawns for vehicles in-game. Sure, they may not be where they are "supposed" to be if someone managed to repair it, get it moving, then ran into a barricade, but you can click the actual vehicle spawns on the Map there and see the images of the vehicles. This will give you a good start. Bear in mind that on top of the "parts" (engine parts, fuel tank parts, wheels, Rich Corinthian Leather seats. etc.) you are going to need a toolbox on your tool belt to repair said vehicles. By the by... bicycles rules!
-
Yup, that would be the ArmA II bug. There are a couple YouTube videos of it out there. Look for Cherno Fire or titles like that on YouTube.

Want me to make you a happy camper? I own a GT70, one model above your MSI, and I know the problem. Uninstall the Qualcomm Killer Atheros Network Manager crap and just install the network drivers from your Utilities Disk that came with your laptop. The Killer Manager crap is useless and is the cause of 95% of the networking problems you will have on your laptop. Dump it like a crazy ex-girlfriend.
